Fatipapi

HAHA oh yea i forgot ed sheeran was in this lmaooo

Marcusinmilw

Woo hoo! LFG!!! Like a lot of people, I don't love season 7 as a whole (and season 8 even less so), but it still has some awesome and epic moments. Really curious to see how you all feel about these final 2 seasons.

Cake eater

Hi there. I read there was an issue with the GoT reaction comment section. Play nice kids. You only get one life-make it count and treat others as you would have them treat you. Also Brig is a handsome boy.

Paul Durbin

They cookin with these uploads. It seems like they're going into season 7 in the right frame of mind. It's possible to still really enjoy this series while acknowledging a lot of the issues. Only 12 more to go

Daenerys Targaryen

Let's go!!! The score when Dany is pulling up to Dragonstone is one of my absolute favorites from Ramin. It's called "Dragonstone."

Nomaan

The final scene of Dany arriving at Dragonstone hits different after watching HOTD

Oliver

20:08 The painter on screen is the actual painter that did the seven kingdoms map she stands on

Seth Aasland

oh boy oh boy!! i‘ll say it again it’s unreal that we’re actually here right now

TheSauceGuy

I forgot he was in the first episode of the season lol

Sean Johnson

Shadow lands of Ass-hai

Mitch

How are they gonna beat the white walkers man… multiple giants and an insanely massive army. I really have no clue how they can possibly do it.

TheSauceGuy

This will be a ride

Ryan Ry

To address the elephant in the room. Yes. I have been mia the past few episodes. No I did not forget about Lord of the Sus Brig and his “Predictions”. Surprise surprise, he’s batting 1.0 on his guesses. “Oh we need little finger to show up” (little finger shows up 10 minutes later). He’s not even trying to hide it. Come on Lord of the Sus Brig. Be true to yourself. You’ll feel better.

TheSauceGuy

The smoke bomb demon army is coming

Ana

Forgot about Ed Sheeran being a bloody Lannister

Cannon Andrus

This episode was actually fire imo

Robert W

The way people constantly try to undermine everything Cersei has done. Most men watching this show and turn into little boys who believe in black/white/good/evil. Cersei has played the game and Sansa is speaking facts to Jon.

Sophia

I’m not sure if it’s completely true but the rumor was that Ed Sheeran showing up was a surprise for Maisie Williams (Arya) cause she was a big fan

Kneegrow

gimme gimme

Nash

lol I forgot that Ed Sheeran appeared in this episode

Bambina

See how we won’t respond and turn it into a pointless argument? Very mindful, very demure, very cutesy! 😌

Anna

The Sam compilation 🤣😭 gets me every time blech

Hannah

D.B Weiss and David Benioff confirmed that Ed Sheerans cameo was a surprise for Maisie because she was a major fan of him and they were apparently trying to “score” the cameo for years…I know it doesn’t make sense and a lot of people weren’t happy when this episode aired but he’s not the only musician that’s made a cameo drummer of Coldplay and members of Monsters and Men etc but they weren’t really noticeable whereas Ed was right in your face🤣😫

Bellaa

can someone let me know how to fix the notifications🥹idk why i dont get any

A_Daddy Daichi

I forgot how great this first episode was!

Caraxes🐐DT

Not gone lie I was kinda hoping you would upload this kinda late so it could help with the wait for 2k lol now I gotta watch it 🤣😭

Bellaa

most of the original fandom liked season 7. idk why a lot of people on this patreon are putting it on the same level or anywhere near 8. i think its mainly fans who watched the show after it finished imo🤷🏽‍♀️

Riley

I love you guys and your reactions—I've been watching since day one of Attack on Titan! I have my fair share of criticism toward this show in the later seasons, and it certainly has a lot of flaws, especially now, but I'm still excited for the reactions. Now, let's finish it off and get to Band of Brothers! I'm excited!

Sean Carroll

Living in Australia sucks only because I wake up as soon as these drop and have to wait 9 hours until after work

TheSauceGuy

Robb was a 🐐, but he made more than one mistake. He knowingly sent 2,000 soldiers to their deaths, executed Rickard Karstark in the middle of the war, and didn't inform Edmure of his plan. The one that happened to kill him was marrying Talisa.

Ana

I actually like season 7 a lot

ThaDoubleB

General audiences mainly were okay with Season 7 because they were expecting it to build up to a great Season 8. It did not, and on a repeat viewing, or if you have your brain on when watching the show, Season 7 is near as bad as Season 8

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

I finished s7 one month before s8 came out. It just seems to simple in the grand scheme, but it's exactly for why you'd think it is.

nymeria

not “looks like andrea from love island” 😭

Niffol

Carter over here just looking up the secrets of the shadow lands beyond ashai.

maria

LMAOOO i forgot how good this episode was and the ed sheeran cameo 💀

Rodrigo Figueroa

Lol Ed Sheeran...now about code geass..

Niffol

Brig the Faceless men use more magic in the books. It's not just a silly mission impossible mask. It's of course much creepier and much more blood magicy.

lola

Robb was epic but for some reason the appeal he had never really gripped me. To me he was cocky and it was only a matter of time until he would screw up especially after he married Talisa.

lola

HOT TAKE: Sansa stans swear she’s the smartest person in the room. She isn’t. She’s just VERY cynical now and does not trust anyone because of her experiences. Which is understandable and I can see where she is coming from. Yet, Jon was literally killed. He isn’t trusting people blindly either but he knows that the way you get people to work together for a common goal is not to divide and punish. You need to know when to swing the sword and when to be merciful. Those kids now owe Jon their lives, they will forever be indebted to him. If they had done it Sansa’s way, who’s to say the umbers and karstarks wouldn’t rise up against the starks eventually AGAIN.

Icchi

Little finger deserved his fall off more than anyone, he’s been a clown

Nomaan

Can’t wait for their reactions to future episodes. And yes idc if the writing is bad, it’s still gonna be fun to see their reactions😭 episode 4 for me is 👌🤌

Marcusinmilw

OMG, I completely forgot about the Samwell montage. It's SO freaking gross but SO freaking funny!! The gagging is hysterical. 😂🤣

Jasper

For all my issues with the show past s3, I love the ending scene of this episode with Dany landing on Dragonstone. It says so much with no dialogue, just the music and Emilia Clarke acting her butt off; the way you can see the impact this is having on Dany, the conflicted feelings of being "home" but it not fully feeling like home because she can barely remember it, and this coupled with the score? It's so good. Glad y'all enjoyed it! Thanks for always bringing a lot of heart and fun to your reactions, it's always a great time!

A_Daddy Daichi

I enjoyed this episode but I totally understand what you’re saying as well Carter

Amna 🍉

SANSA NATION WE NEED TO REUNITE FOR THESE TWO LAST SEASONS

TheSauceGuy

I thought that leafblower was Sam humming or something lol

Paul Durbin

Season 7 has a few redeeming elements in my opinion, but I view it (and viewed it at time of release) as the worst up to this point. They started off season 1 being 95% faithful to the source material, but strayed in, at the time, very minor ways. As the seasons progressed, the writing became exponentially diverted from the source material to remedy the changes. Some things were added, some things were omitted, and some things were changed altogether. This wasn't so much of an issue until season 5 for me, where it became a glaring issue. All things considered, I supremely enjoy this series, I just wish they would have done it justice. I've read all the books and started watching this series in 2011. I immediately needed to know all the history and lore of the world. You could say it's been an investment for me.

GB3

Ed Sheeran broke my immersion so hard when I first saw this episode

Joe Mama

Agree w all these besides beheading Lord Karstark. He killed Tully men to murder those Lannister boys, as well as talk shit to Robb about how he’s just going to get a scolding.

Amna 🍉

Arya taking out a whole house while telling the maids the North and a Stark was behind it and then not facing any repercussions has to be peak fan service and clown behaviour by D&D. The downfall of house Frey in the books is a lot more haunting.

Niffol

Tell them Carter! Tell them how Gilly went to the shadow lands beyond ashai. Where ghost grass flows like the dothraki sea.

Reeker

Oh my peak

Joe Mama

Need George to hurry up I need more Lady Stoneheart chapters!

TheSauceGuy

Jorah should've gone to find a cure in Asshai instead of the Citadel lol

Niffol

Ed Sheeran was summoned in the shadowlands beyond ashai and teleported to westeros to star a bard career.

Shadow

Books do a lot better job at making him sympathetic. He’s also a lottt younger so the mistakes make more sense especially with even more context

TheSauceGuy

he's younger in the books and more complex (like most characters), so his cockiness makes sense

Amna 🍉

Sansa wasn't telling him to kill the children of Umbers and Karstarks imo. She wasn't exactly wrong, as a leader you need to show that treason has consequences and that loyalty will be rewarded. And Ned would've sided with Sansa on this one. Ned was honourable and extremely strict when it came to rules.

MateoP

The start of the downfall of GOT begins 😭😭

TheSauceGuy

He could've killed him after the war; "sending a message" by executing him only caused him to lose the largest bulk of his forces.

brog.

the ed sheeran pull im dead man

Camilla

@lola yuppp i felt the same way about his character

brog.

i dont think i have literally ever heard a single person claim sansa is the smartest person in the room

TheSauceGuy

Yeah for sure, Arya's arc there was rushed. I think many problems in seasons 5-8 (but mostly 7 and 8) could've been avoided if things hadn't been rushed. David and Dan were steadfast in concluding the show within 8 seasons (the last two only totaling 13 episodes). George felt that the show needed 10-13 seasons to be concluded properly.

Amna 🍉

What's worse is that hbo even offered them up to 12 seasons

Funkystar

The thing about Arya is she’s been in essos the whole time. the last thing she know is that the Boltons rule in winterfell so why would she go there? And she said to jaqan she’s going “Home not winterfell I think she just meant back to Westeros and she has name to cross of her list because she’s consumed with Revenge so it explains why Walder and the frays where the first thing she did and now she’s going after cersi because of revenge she has nothing else to live for!

Joe Mama

Lord Karstark spit out a broken tooth. "Yes, Lord Umber, leave me to the king. He means to give me a scolding before he forgives me. That's how he deals with treason, our King in the North." He smiled a wet red smile, "or should I call you the King Who Lost the North, Your Grace?" He sealed his fate with that little speech and the fact he killed his own allies to murder some boys. Robb would have looked weak if he didn’t take his head. Plus he had to show that he doesn’t condone the actions of killing POWs, as Sansa was still a captive. Robb messed up a bunch but I just don’t think that was one of his mistakes.

Funkystar

I agree maybe they should have shown more of walder fray and how she ended their house but the season final of last season was so packed with drama and so much happened. I can’t really complain bc it’s only 8 season so they had to cut something out. It’s nothing to really but they executed that scene in the beginning very well Carter ain’t gonna like some episodes of season 8 very much if this bothered him😭😭

TheSauceGuy

Arya's actress was 12 in season 1 of GoT and was 22 in season 8 lol.

Ana

@Joe Mama. Robb messed up but I still like him better than Jon

Amna 🍉

As always, Mckay and Carter cook whenever they speak

Amna 🍉

Sophie's height makes it seem like Sansa was much older than Arya but I think they're only suppose to be 2-3 years apart lol

TheSauceGuy

I can understand them being tired and ready to move on, but they didn't need to condemn the series because of that. I think they kind of forgot George existed hehehe. I'd imagine he could've given them some sort of support on how to end things within 8 seasons, but maybe I'm wrong.

Niffol

Want to know what set IS a real place? The wall. George was in an interview and was speaking about it. He said its at the base of a canyon at an old mine. He went to see the set and was looking up the wall and asked how tall it was. They said 400 feet. Georges Wall is 700 feet. he said he just thought "I made the wall too big....". Obviously It's not the length of the wall, but still cool real location.

EtherealLlama

God I love the Dragonstone scene. It’s so cool seeing it like this after watching HotD

Chakra

I'd say that starts in season 8, season 7 did well critically as well for the most part. Lowest rated episode was an 8.5.

TheSauceGuy

Almost all of the major characters are younger in the books. Theon is the only one I can think of who is older than his show counterpart.

Shadow

The coulda at least did more then 6 episodes for the final season

TheSauceGuy

Looking weak > losing an entire army. I don't think it's a difficult decision to just handle it after the war. He needed all the support he could get.

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

Pretty sure I listed my fav characters with LF as #1 so .... sometimes it's personal.

Shadow

Dany does indeed look unreal

Joe Mama

@Ana I agree. They wrote it so show Jon can basically do no wrong. He’s a badass fighter, and honorable leader. Basically made him a shonen MC, while Robb is a whole lot closer to his book counterpart. An actual flawed character, who pays dearly for it.

Blackeyedlily

While Ed Sheeran seemed like an odd addition that many people felt took them out of the story, it was actually quite common for Game of Thrones to include some well known musicians in almost every season. This includes musicians at the Red and Purple Weddings and a couple of other episodes. Ed Sheeran was just the most well-known musician they ever used. And his song was highlighted, whereas other musicians played more background roles.

TheSauceGuy

Show Jon is basically fan service embodied into a character. He's good-looking, does the right thing, is a good fighter, isn't completely stupid, etc. I'd say I like him more than Robb simply because he's around longer and has a more interesting journey, but book Jon is undoubtedly better than book Robb.

TheSauceGuy

Yeah, Jon fits the Gary Stu archetype more than any other show character that I can think of. He's still not a Gary Stu, but he's closer than everyone else.

Renek

carter made the perfect point about all of season 7/8 from one episode only that's insane

bateman bookworm

Well actually tywin came in at the last minute when it came to the rebellion. Joffrey called him out for it when he said that tywin hid under casterly rock while his father won the real war. Robert was a great soldier, he won that war. He’s just a terrible ruler. Also i agree carter, arya’s storyline has always been my least favorite. She had a whole arc of leaving the red god to be arya stark but still gets all the perks lol. Then suddenly she’s at the twins and massacres the frey house, it was too easy

bateman bookworm

yeah but jon understands the gravity of the situation in the north, they need to trust him. Just like he should listen to sansa when it comes to cersei

jrnoodles

Thank you Geks for the episode. I kinda wish they played some sort of a version of Rains of Castamere when Arya decimated the Freys. Would've been a nice throwback.

milfnyra mai

yes jack let cannon know!! sansa has good insight in general. i’m not claiming she’s the smartest or anything & she was wrong about ripping family homes away sure, but she’s been in the company of some of the best players in this game. put some respect on her name.

Jordan Drake

Arya didn't say she was going to winterfell, she just said "home" meaning westeros. Last she knew before leaving to essos in season 4, winterfell was in the Boltons hands. So she doesn't know it was taken back recently.

bateman bookworm

the thing is carter, the pace of the last seasons are super fast which is why they are disliked. Especially when we had a whole season watching jamie and brienne walking back to kingslanding. This was supposed to be 10-13 seasons.

Count Dooku

fr, writing a college essay on a reaction video is unhinged. the less they know about the show, the better their reactions will be. no hate, just take it to the discord lol

Blackeyedlily

That great scene with Sandor Clegane burying the father and daughter is a homage to the actual storyline that the Hound has in the books, which is quite different from the show. And the gross out scenes with Sam in the Citadel feels like the typical stuff that the show runners, Dan and David like to do, along with the gratuitous sex of the early seasons and some of the over the top shocking violence that don’t feel like it has any real purpose other than shock value.

Jules

Great reaction as usual! maybe someone has mentioned this already, Arya isn't going to Winterfell; she said she was going "home" and she meant Westeros. She thinks her family is dead, and she's just interested in crossing people off her list. I was pretty happy when this episode came out but looking back now... For the Frey's, I think D&D at this point were mostly counting on the shock factor and crossing things off of their list pretty quickly. I remember on my first watch liking this element of surprise and getting thrown into it like that, but icl i would've loved more of it. Also you guys should re watch 3x10 Bran tells a story that foreshadows what Arya ends up doing to Walder Frey!

Michael H

I wonder how many people are like me and have no idea who you are or what you’re talking about…

Melczech

Arya's revenge wouldn't have been as epic, if you would have seen it coming.

Blackeyedlily

House Frey hasn’t had its ultimate demise in the books yet. But the set-up for it is definitely there. And the scene from Season 6’s finale, where Arya feeds Walker Frey his sons baked in a pie, is based on totally epic events in the book A Dance with Dragons out of the ASOIAF series. Both show watchers and book readers should pick up on how this is related to the tale of the Rat Cook that Bran tells to Jojen and Meera. But I totally agree that the way it was handled in the show was purely fan service. And that is why after the episode ended these guys were discussing how hollow that scene felt, which is the total opposite from how epic the book scene is that they were paying homage to.

Derek

That song was wrote about Tyrion and Shea in the books.lol

Paperview007

Season 7 is actually good. The main difference is this is the first time they shortened a season by 3 episodes. If they made it 10 episodes probably would be a lot better. Epic and enjoyable things. Just a lot of times feel rushed because of the shortened season and it being the second to last season wrapping things up with shorter time is my main complaint. Other then that I like the season. Especially watching in real time after watching 8 it’s easier to clump the last two season together they just should have never shortened the time to finish the story. If they were all 10 episodes it would have went a lot better for the last two seasons. But still not bad while watching until for a lot of people you get to the actual end.

Thicc Thanos

I’m at the phase where I’m past the disappointment of “what could have been.” Now I’m just happy we got as much good stuff as we did. I think at this point everyone on the show was completely exhausted. Kit Harrington(Jon Snow) said in an interview(paraphrasing) that he didn’t think they could have done another season and if you watch back ‘you can see how tired I am.’ They gave up significant portions of their life for this show and if it would’ve went on to 12 seasons they’d literally be in the same roll for like 20+years. I think D&D took the heat for ending it(and rightfully so for bad writing) when it could’ve gone on longer and would’ve been better for it. But I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the main cast was telling them, “Alright guys I think it’s about time we wrap this up…” I also bet in order to continue the show the main actors were asking for enough money to buy a castle IRL or ‘RDJ money.’ With the ballooning CGI costs for dragons, whitewalkers, and actor’s salaries it would make each episode cost as much as a Marvel movie. I think the bigger episodes even did cost that much. But of course part of me wishes they would’ve passed the show off to someone else who is fresh and continued. House of the Dragon proves it could’ve worked.

Teri M

Season 7 has some of my favorite episodes. I hope you guys enjoy!

Amna 🍉

Yeaa but breaking oaths and committing treason still has consequences. I understand both sides but she still had a really important point

Amna 🍉

My goat lord manderly coming through in the books. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK ASAP😭

Kite

the writers forgot how to write littlefinger lmao

Nanashi

And still gives dogshit advice and withholds key information

Darrell Henry

“Queen you shall be, until there comes another, younger and more beautiful to cast you down and take all you hold dear”

lily p

I think it’s really interesting that you guys have the perspective of seeing House of the Dragon and then seeing Daenerys homecoming! For those of us who watched Game of Thrones first, the homecoming was a wonderful moment to witness. However, since you watched the series in reverse order, you already understand the significance of that place to the Targaryens. You've seen much of what has happened there, which makes it feel even more like her ancestral home. You’ve had the chance to appreciate the connection more deeply and that was a super cool moment to experience with you guys

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

Look up (or don't) The Northern Plot. Just saying it would/could have been if it involved more of the northern houses, so the phrase actually stood. They basically swapped out the BotB and only Bolton house for North plot. Bolton's, Greyjoys, Freys running rampant corrupting the north, with zero representation for the loyal houses, acting like the Manderlys of all people would betray .... just saying. It was there to do.

Smokey

you're grown enough to know you're in the wrong

Amna 🍉

How does one go about sending a gift to the geks👀

ayaerika

thank you for making that video about the GOT comment section. I personally never check comments and even write one cuz i just like the content you guys post and thats all. So knowing the comment section was always negative i was so shocked like fr?? i thought we were here to re live the great GOT show and have fun lol

DerekSniper30

30:40 I with Brig on this one.

Daenerys Targaryen

I feel your frustrations, Carter. We all do!

Melczech

I was just pointing out to Carter that if they would have shown Arya get there and kill Frey’s sons, it wouldn’t have been as epic of a scene. She trained as a faceless man, so the art of surprise was important for that very reason. It was incredibly satisfying to me lol! “Leave one wolf alive and the sheep are never safe” LOVE IT!! 🙌

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

One does not simply character reset my Geks insert character (Carter) 😁👌🏾 ^^Edited for clarification, although it could also apply ironically to my *fav* characters, LF & Varys

lily p

Here’s some Tywin Lore as an extension to what Brig said: Tywin and the Mad King were once close friends, but their relationship soured when Aerys began to lose his sanity. Aerys started to see Tywin as a threat and rejected the marriage proposal of Cersei to Rhaegar. The final blow to their relationship came when Aerys named Jaime to the Kingsguard, stripping Tywin of his heir to Casterly Rock. Tywin was also absent from the Tourney at Harrenhal, which was a cover for Rhaegar's plot to conspire with the lords of the realm to overthrow his father. Tywin chose to stay away to avoid being associated with the conspirators and to protect Jaime from potential repercussions if he were to be caught up in the scheme. Unfortunately Rhaegar disappeared shortly after with Lyanna, Aerys killed Rickard and Brandon Stark, Jon Arryn had no choice but to call the banners and off they went to war. Instead of declaring for a side, Tywin sat on the sidelines , refused to engage with the rebels or the crown and it wasn’t until Robert killed Rhaegar at the Trident that Tywin finally acted. Tywin threw his support behind Robert, Tywin sacked Kingslanding, Jaime killed Aerys and he married Cersei to Robert. He acted only intervening when he was certain of victory. This approach is a key reason why people feared him.

James Moss

I actually don't even hate season 8 (I binged the show in like a month after it had aired and had low expectations for the finale), but I do think that there are definitely some major cracks that start to show in season 7. It's kinda like how The Last Jedi did well critically but it ended up putting The Rise Of Skywalker into a hole it couldn't dig itself out of. GOT just turns really cartoonish in Season 7 imo and more of a spectacle rather than smart. I still really like it though.

Dakota

There's always a few bad eggs ruining things for everyone else. Lol

Dakota

This season gets a bad rap, and I said in the finale of 6 that you guys would think this season overall is fine and I still hold to that. Especially after seeing your reactions to this episode. Season 7 overall has some of my favorite episodes/scenes in the whole show, and though its somewhat controversial, I do like it overall, I was always of the mind of "I wanted more." Glad you guys enjoyed this first episode. I knew Ed Sheeran was in this but I couldn't have, for the life of me, told you which episode or season it was. It was so funny hearing Carter say "is that Ed sheeran?" and him appearing right after lmao.

Brady

I'm not caught up with the show but I was looking at the imdb ratings and I'm surprised season 7 has an average episode rating of 9.03, considering how much I've heard about how bad both 7 & 8 are (season 8 has an average of 6.4, though the last 3 eps are rated way lower than the first 3)

Mitch

Literally had nothing to do as soon as season 5 started

Kare

Did brig just say Daenerys looks like andrea from love island😭😭

I❤️movies&tvshows

Ed Sheehan was brought in for Aryas birthday. The actress Maisie it was her birthday and this was her gift from production

I❤️movies&tvshows

There are only 7 episodes this season which is why the Frey’s and other important storylines were condensed. The writers are wrapping up all the loose ends and they rushed it.

I❤️movies&tvshows

The painted table looks so different not lit up. Glad you guys noticed the dagger on the page before the dragon glass map. That was great attention to detail.

Blackeyedlily

Yes, it was widely reported that they did this for Masie. Yet this was also something they had done with musicians from popular bands in several previous episodes. But this was the first time that lots of people said they felt it was jarring to suddenly see Ed Sheeran in GOT.

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

I love that sentiment too, but they could have had her stealth infiltrate and nab them at least, the pie and face reveal could still be a surprise. Like maybe we don't know where she is going exactly, but she's sneaking around like she did in Braavos and then we see where she's sneaking and it unfolds with just a couple more logistical/tactical nods to previous stuff besides just the changing faces. 🤷🏾‍♀️ For me that would have been more delicious 😋

JC

Arya's scene with the Lanisters soldiers is interesting, she arrives half-prepared to attack and then sees that they are normal people, victims of the great lords' wars. I think it's good for her character who is 100% focused on revenge

Seth Aasland

it’s actually so great that you guys watched HOTD before this season of GOT, it makes the scene with Dany more impactful, having seen Dragonstone a ton in the prequel show

Charlie Bronson

GRRM is never going to finish the books imho, so here we are. Hes going to take his sweet time apparently to share everything he didn't like with HotD... just something hes spending time on stead of finishing GOT

Seth Aasland

“leave one wolf alive, and the sheep are never safe” is one of the most goated Stark quotes

NoneOfYourBeeswax

The Hound wasn't burying the dead man and his little daughter for fear they'd turn into White Walkers - They're still in the South, and if the Army of the Dead ever made it that far it would be game over already. No, he is burying them because he feels guilty; they starved to death because he had robbed them of all of their silver, hence they couldn't buy food enough to keep themselves alive. The scene shows how, despite his coarse and offhand manner, The Hound is not the same person he was when he was last at this house.

Ethan

Jack is right, why has no one taken dragonstone after Stannis left years ago? Seems like such an important castle

Calen

"With the ballooning CGI costs for dragons, whitewalkers, and actor’s salaries it would make each episode cost as much as a Marvel movie." Don't forget the Wolves. We were constantly being told by D&D at the time that they were trying to write Direwolves out of scenes as much as possible because they were too expensive. But we are talking expensive episodes *for tv*. The most expensive GoT episodes were about $15 million apiece (Which was the budget for each season 8 episode, making it the most expensive season, despite its 6 episode length), so an order of magnitude lower than most Marvel movies' budgets, which average about $200 million

NoneOfYourBeeswax

Tywin had nothing to do with Robert's Rebellion - he certainly wasn't the mastermind behind it. He sat it out and did nothing until the very last moment, When Ned Stark was about to march on King's Landing. The Mad King, who had been desperately messaging Casterley Rock to come to his aid, though that Tywin had finally come with his army to defend him and opened the gates of KL to his armies - whereupon they sacked the city, burning looting and r*ping, and after the Mountain had killed Rhaegar's children, Tywin laid the dead Targaryen children at Robert's feet. And that was the cause if Ned's falling out with Robert, who was happy to see Targaryens dead, no matter how young they were.

For the good behavior in the comment section, please bless us with 7x2 tomorrow 🩵😌

NoneOfYourBeeswax

And -in the book - the bard who composed it was killed by Bronn on Tyrion's orders and ended up being served up in bowls of stew in a pot shop in Flea Bottom.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

And yes, it was the birthplace of Daenerys "Stormborn" Targaryen, born there during one of the greatest storms in living memory. Hence the name.

Timmy Turner

He went from one of the key players behind the scenes to smiling mischievously every now and then

Amna 🍉

Tywin did absolutely nothing during Robert's Rebellion. He didn't pick a side and refused to help anyone until Rhaegar died and then he decided to get to KL before Ned to get an upper hand. Tywin and his army then sacked the city, murdered and raped women and children. Tywin then ordered the Mountain to kill Elia and her two children. When Joffrey calls him out back in season 3 for not doing anything during the rebellion, he wasn't capping lol. Not to mention, the show humanized him a lot compared to the books

Timmy Turner

It’s not just that the pace is fast, but that it’s fast and illogical. Time and distance were key factors in decisions for early GoT, to the point that sometimes information delay would vastly impact the outcome of events. Now characters and information will travel in 1 day what should’ve taken weeks or months, as if Westeros got wifi and airplanes.

Timmy Turner

I’m not even gonna say the “kinda forgot” meme cuz it’s overused at this point.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

Ned never has and never would do the dirty on innocent children. \\all his fallings out with Robert were because he wouldn't stand with his treatment of children. He even spent his life with a false stain upon his honour because he was protecting a Targaryen child

maria

dude i laughed out loud when carter guessed ed sheeran

Amna 🍉

Again, Sansa wasn't asking those children to be killed. But there's consequences to treason and breaking oaths. He still was super strict about following rules. One of the biggest reason he was mad with Robert was bc he allowed the killing of Elia and two children, completely innocent people who were no harm, he allowed the Lannisters to get away with it. If Sansa straight up said "oh you need kill those children" then that would've been a problem, but she only asked for their names to not be in charge of the castles anymore.

Enma

God I miss Ned, man. Jon and Sansa talking about him in Winterfell, revitalized my love for him. Sean Bean was so perfect in that role too.

Amna 🍉

I would just like to bring something up, because I just noticed it on my third rewatch. During his confession, Ned said something like, "let the High Septon and Baelor the Blessed bear witness to my words. Jeoffrey is the one true king..." etc. The High Septon and Baelor are both figures from the Faith of the Seven. Ned worships the Old Gods. He "swore" his false oath by a religion he doesn't follow. So basically a false confession lol

Enma

Yep, both him and Oberyn. They were only in the show for their respective seasons, but they had such a significant impact and presence that I feel the show hasn’t quite been able to replicate since.

thebirdcatcher1

My favorite part is Jaime's reaction to Ned Starks's bastard being named King in the North and that murderous whore Sansa standing beside him.

Timmy Turner

Idk what it is but he was my favorite character (and GoT S1 is my favorite season). I just loved his POV and the mystery he was plunged into. For a time I would just reread AGOT and rewatch S1, I didn’t even feel like moving on after his death. I’m glad I did though because the other books cook (AFFC to a lesser degree).

Sean Carroll

Back in the day most people just loved anything that was game of thrones. While season 7 has its moments for sure it also is the major decline from a writing perspective that majority of people back then either didnt see or ignored.

Bellaa

they just wanted to go work for star wars it wasnt even them being tired😆 they are just selfish and got too cocky

Jessica

Love the scene with Arya talking to the Lannisters and her seeing there’s still some good in the world after everything she’s been through. It’s gonna be a solid season with some big moments!! Tho I really like your critical thinking. Personally I can see the flaws and still did while watching live but could still enjoy it (some things less than others 😅) so hope you’ll be able to do so as well either way I’m excited to see your reactions to this season!! 🤍

Alex

no build up with arya is wild she watched her whole family get killed been waiting seasons for this. She had walder frey on the list forever too. lol

Skyz

Faceless men being able to perfectly mimic their victims voices makes no sense but anyway. Edit: Game of Thrones is Fantasy yes, there are Dragons and there are White Walkers, none of them are human. Arya isn't a witch or a mage, she is a regular human being. The face cutting is plausible to me, the voices though not so much. It's not like i hate the show for this one reason but it's like GRRM said even fantasy needs to be grounded in it's rules. Like literally just show her getting trained in blood magic or praying to the lord of light or some shit and bam i have no issues. She didn't even get on screen training wearing faces, the only time she wore a face was killing Ser Meryn and it's not like she had to put up a facade, her arc made her a better fighter, hardly any time spent on assassin training. Honestly this rewatch has made me realise how poorly Arya's entire arc was handled on the show.

ken

Makes about as much sense as cutting someone’s face off and putting it on imo

SirCatelot

There are Dragons, Ice People, Army of The Dead, Children of the forest, Magic. But you draw the line at voice mimicry

Amna 🍉

I'll come back to this comment once he releases the next book

BloodyBen

Its magic. In a world of resurrections, flaming swords, dragons, ice-zombies, wargs etc. lol

Arthur Fields

After making us wait 13 months for season 7 to begin, I feel like they wanted to quickly reward us for our patience by giving us that very satisfying Frey family slaughter. I didn't mind that there was no build up. It reminds me of Mystique in the X-Men movies. They don't always tell us exactly what her plans are or who she's planning on morphing into.

BloodyBen

The song Ed Sheeran was singing - in the books it was a singer named Symon Silver Tongue who wrote that song about Tyrion and Shae after he found out about them, and Tyrion had the singer killed.

LuvStarburst

I was eating my lunch while on break from work and just lost my appetite on the bathroom cleaning scene.

Alexa

Saying Little Finger is a meme at this point was so real 🤣 he's like a fly that won't stop buzzing and I feel the way Sansa does every time he's on screen.

Alexa

I love the predictions guys, I'm sad we are so near to end of the Gek of Thrones journey but there's still more great reaction content to come!

7thdilemma

I fucking love how much you guys enjoyed the Arya scene with the soldiers. Have never understood why some people feel so so against it. Might be a little jarring just because with these being the first decent soldiers we've ever met like you guys say, but it's only a small thing.

Sean Carroll

SPOILERS BELOW Arya: season 8 ep 1: “she’s the smartest person I’ve ever met” 🤦‍♂️

Kaibur

not sure if its just me but for some of the uploads i feel like the media volume is really low compared to the geks mic, bit hard to hear the show sometimes and trying to turn it up just makes the mic volume insane. anyone else think the same or could just be my end?

Sean Carroll

Yeah but we also didn’t see walder Frey for 3 seasons and as soon as he’s brought in again he is killed in one of the most anticlimactic ways ever. For someone who deserved one of the biggest deaths in the show it was done so poorly

Sean Carroll

Aryas story fell off a cliff as soon as she went to bravos and it never got back to being good

Sanji

Arya killing the frays felt unsatisfying bc of the randomness. I felt the same way for s6 ep10 with Cersei killing the Tyrells and the Filth Militant. Felt a little cheap and random to me in the same way.

7thdilemma

That's not really what they mean by buildup to Arya's revenge though. What's missing is any sort of progression towards making the revenge possible. Thinking about how much she hates the Freys doesn't serve that at all. Maybe it could count as buildup toward the decision to kill them in the future, except not really because Arya made that decision forever ago. Also consider how long it's even been since we had any mention of the Freys or revenge of any sort from Arya. Imo, part of Arya's struggle with the Faceless Men ought to have been, not only to give up who she is (which we saw some of), but perhaps more importantly to give up her desire for revenge. You know, the thing we've seen grow towards more and more characters as she fled captor after captor. They almost went into this when Arya killed Meryn Trant, but then we never saw any sort of internal struggle or anything. She saw Trant, killed him like she wanted, lost her eyes because of it, and then got her eyes back when she appeared willing to give up her identity to serve. But no where in that plot line does she have to deal with the prospect of giving up her need for revenge. Not that we see, not directly anyway because there's never another instance after Trant to test if she changed or not. Instead we get all that with the actress which isn't related to Arya's character progression at all. All it did was show us that she still has moral difficulty killing innocence. Ugh. Now I'm ranting a bit, but it's just painful because something like this can feel so intentional and have so much potential, at least in my eyes.

7thdilemma

Completely agree about the lack of buildup to Arya killing the Freys and just missing any sort of progression towards making that possible. You might consider seeing how much Arya hates the Freys as serving to buildup toward the decision to kill them in the future, but then not really because Arya made that decision forever ago. And to be fair, we don't even have that because it's been so long since we even had any mention of the Freys or revenge of any sort from Arya. Imo, part of Arya's struggle with the Faceless Men ought to have been, not only to give up who she is (which we saw some of), but perhaps more importantly to give up her need for revenge. You know, the thing we've seen grow towards more and more characters as she was forced to flee captor after captor. They almost went into this when Arya killed Meryn Trant, but then we never saw any sort of internal struggle around that or anything. She saw Trant, killed him like she wanted, lost her eyes because of it, and then got her eyes back when she appeared willing to give up her identity to serve. But no where in that plot line does she have to deal with the prospect of giving up her need for revenge. Not that we see, not directly because there's never another instance after Trant to test if she changed or not. Instead we get all that with the actress which isn't related to Arya's character progression at all. All it did was show us that she still has moral difficulty killing innocence. Ugh. I'll end my ranting here, but it's just painful because something like this can feel so intentional and have so much potential, at least in my eyes.

AlucardIV

Their predictions are such a mood! Brig's list of predictions reads as an in memoriam. Cannon's predictions are missing one more death to be the complete reverse of Four Weddings and a Funeral. And Carter's vary from Captain Obvious to Charlie Kelly's deep-dive into the Pepe Silvia conspiracy. We're off to a good start!

vally

Kinda makes it even more emotional to see Daenerys on Dragonstone after HotD. We saw Rhaenyra, Damon and the others Targaryen in this castle and to have now Daenerys there really means a lot. She is Targaryen and it’s where she belongs.

darist

It's hilarious how Littlefinger went from being one of the most captivating players in the show to now just being a nuisance to every other character whenever he's on screen lol, the fall off is crazy

hannahbee99

I’m glad you guys enjoyed this first episode. I actually quite like Season 7, it’s definitely not my favourite, but I personally don’t think it’s anywhere near as bad as Season 8. My biggest gripe with Season 7 is the same issue I have with Season 2 of HoTD. There is just no good reason why Season 7 shouldn’t have been 10 episodes. Cutting it to 7 episodes just makes no sense to me, and I feel if we had an extra 3 hours to flesh out some of the storylines, it would’ve made this season a whole lot better. That being said, like Season 6, there are a lot of great moments and great scenes in this season, some of my personal favourite scenes are in this season. Love that you boys are keeping an open mind. Thanks for the great reaction!

r stark

LOL the ed sheeran cameo always makes me laugh cause it’s exactly what i would do if i was a famous person. he was a huge fan of the show and when he heard they needed an extra to play a lannister soldier who sings, he asked to play the role 💀💀

Jenny D

You guys had good predictions! I love Daenerys's outfit in this season. It is very Targaryean and serious. I feel bad for Sam. He probably thought training to be a Maester was going to be epic and instead he's emptying chamber pots, cleaning, etc. As for the Arya situation. I get what Carter means, but I'm also glad it wasn't super drawn out. I think they still could have done more with it. I'm glad they didn't show her carving them up and cooking them though. That would have been gross. I'm excited for the next episode reaction!

lola

Only time I’ll agree with Sean… thanks for the receipts 😭🤣🙏

lola

I need you to go to Twitter and TikTok at least once in your life 😭

GooberM

"CARTER READ THE MANGA" lmao that killed me

hollow soul

liked the ep but feel ya carter

Uros Vesic

Solid first ep. I remember when I watched it, hype was real.

Jake

Here’s to a toxic free comment section👌🏼 killin it bois

Leo

Nah, people waiting for right episode

Chris Sanford

Facts, Carter!! The Cold Opens on this show are sick, I think the first one was with Robb attacking that Lannister camp, but the one with the return of the Hound is absolutely epis as well

Joey Brock

people hate on the ed sheeran cameo a lot but genuinely i had no idea who he was when this came out and i didn't notice him being any bad at acting, like yall said that was just a good scene. for the most part, i like season 7 but there are issues which i ain't gonna speak on until they come out but, this is a good premiere

Jessica

Think it was different when you waited so long bc I remember that scene being extremely hyped and it was so satisfying to watch

Brig Andrus

Are you saying Cersei isn’t inherently a bad person? I’m confused lol

Afra

Daenerys arriving at dragonstone always gives me such goosebumps

Nomaan

Anyone else read George’s post about HOTD before he deleted?😂

Jake

lol true these last few seasons gon make people spicy

Bellamy Blake

You know it’s bad when he started to spoil HotD S3. Do you think the HBO snipers got to him?

Nomaan

I mean someone probably told him to delete it cos of the spoiler😭

Shadow

I honestly hope it’s that. He has been sitting this post for a few weeks so to just delete it so fast is… odd to say the least. Definitely an L for the overall discourse how it all played out

Ryan Ry

I see one like. And 7 comments. I feel like that’s a W.

Samuel

Did that map in Kings Landings says Rook's Nest instead of Rest?? Lol

Amna 🍉

That new post on GRRM's blog is......maybe they should just cancel HOTD and restart lol. “I have no idea what Ryan has planned — if indeed he has planned anything” - GRRM. Like that's rough😭💀

Shadow

Grrm just needs to make sure he’s gonna get what he wants before he sells the rights. Most of that blog post shoulda just been a meeting with hotd people

Amna 🍉

I don't think GRRM has been that involved with the writing by the looks of it. Previously, he also has talked about how the authors of the books don't have as much rights regarding these things as people think they do. I think he's 100% justified. Ryan and Sarah Hess were not the right writers to bring this to life. The fact that he went as far as spoiling season 3, yeah he's not happy

Timmy Turner

Angry GRRM is my favorite GRRM

Shadow

Well he’s had posts sayings he was locked inside for 2 days with the team for season 3 and future. Then had posts where the worked a little. Now saying he has no idea what they have planned but is complaining about it. It’s also mainly about the impact of one character on the story. I love grrm my peepaw but he’s a little all over the place. He said he’s having a rough year and I think emotions are getting to him. Him not being involved is mainly his fault. He chose Ryan. Ryan loves him and has an open invitation to grrm for the writers room. He should be calling them up with these issues rn before they start fr working on s3 and his words should mean something… like contract meaningful.

Amna 🍉

I wish he hadn't deleted his post 😭 but I'm guessing it was bc of the spoilers😬

Leo

If you don't pull them up when they are down, they will never bend the knee - Tywin Lannister. What jon did was absolutely perfect.

Leo

That sigh of relief on alys karstark face after jon let them live is everything. That's my king 👑

Leo

GRRM is fraud. IDC about what you all say.

Niffol

If you want a glimpse of what it is like. The faces are more flayed off giving them more of a bloody wet rag and less like a mask. Arya starts the process and says she feels like her own face is being removed and when the new face is put on she has the final memories of the face rushing into her mind and feels the dead faces husband strangling her. I dont recall any mention of a glamour so more blood magic than glamour spell.

Ray

Came flying on dragonback to this comment section when I saw the post 🔥👀

Ray

Makes me wanna see a blog post on S5 - S8 of GoT now tbh! Feeling justied ngl the Author HIMSELF is on our side, shame we can't get loyal adaptations anymore like LoTR anymore... 😭😭

Shadow

People really overstate the loyalty of that trilogy. They are just peak

Arctic_stark

The biggest misconception around is that LoTR is a loyal adaptation. JRR Tolkien would’ve hated it. Christopher Tolkien definitely hated it.

Joe Mama

You liked it yourself lmao you’re not fooling anyone here

Arctic_stark

Glad that GRRM is finally wrestling some control back on his life’s work and criticizing HotD for its mistakes. Probably too late to save HotD but might bode well for the next couple of shows in the works. Just stick to the actual story written by one of the greatest authors in the fantasy genre, don’t pretend you can do better.

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

It's always like this for me on headphones. I have it up to 87 on volume and manually turn it up and down when I know it's going to get loud 😔 I have sound sensitivity so this just goes to show what I'll put up with for this reaction, if they were annoying as people I'd be long gone. But I think the volume and sound mixing stuff has to do with yt and copyright more than anything

Clegane (GOT Season 1-8 enjoyer)

If you want to read the deleted article GRRM published earlier today 9/4 see below... WARNING THERE ARE SPOILERS HALFWAY DOWN THE PAGE!!!

Emily P

I live for Carter's impressions

Cannon Andrus

I don’t think any of us thought they were going to kill them but I still disagree with Sansa

Sean Carroll

Ok can finally give my comment on this episode. Episode rating 6/10, nothing too bad yet, just lacklustre Positives: Jon giving the umbers and karstsrks a place back in the fold, great to see Jon doing the right thing as king. Aryas scene with the soldiers is quite a nice scene, I’ll comment more on this in the negatives Hound burying the bodies is a good scene and the hound continues to be the funniest character in the show That’s all the positives

Amna 🍉

I see where Jon was coming from as well, they both made good points for me but I agree more with Sansa on this one

Daenerys Targaryen

Thankfully RedTeamReview and The Dragon Demands channels are doing a video all about George's state of mind and his recent blog post. Can't wait to read that!

Sean Carroll

Negatives: Arya: first of all Carter is absolutely correct regarding the rushed and anticlimactic feeling of Arya killing the freys, something that deserved far more buildup and a feeling of triumph was lazily and poorly done. Why did we also need a second scene for this when we already got the scene in 6x10. How did Arya find the poison that killed all the freys, did she happen to steal the poison from jaqen that they used on people? If so why hasn’t jaqen come after her or sent people to come and take it back from Arya, I’m sure this wouldn’t be too difficult for them. Why is Arya 100% healthy after having been stabbed and on the verge of death mere episodes/days ago? Bran: ed asks how can he be sure if bran is who he says he is and bran decides to tell ed stuff that ed has experienced himself and say the white walkers are coming and somehow ed takes this as good enough evidence as to who bran is and just lets them through? This scene was so weird and clunky. Jon: Jon tells everyone that men women and children aged 10-60 will be trained ready to fight when the time comes… remember that for later. Jon then sends tormund and the wildlings to defend the castle at eastwatch which is a nights watch castle. Jon is no longer the lord commander so how does he have the authority to make this decision?? Lyanna Mormont being cringe again yelling at everyone for no reason, “I don’t need your permission to defend the north”, that was never in question or being argued, glover was simply saying he didn’t want his granddaughter fighting, he didn’t say anything about Lyanna Mormont so why is she getting angry at him, people love Lyanna for being a tough girl boss but I just can’t take a little girl trying to act tough seriously. Sansa literally compares Jon to Joffrey which is just mind boggling. She than says that Jon should listen to her advice from time to time but yet she had no advice for him in season 6 and decided to withhold key information from him… why should Jon listen to Sansa at all when she has proven incapable and untrustworthy. Cersei: so let me get this straight, in 6x5 euron loses all of the iron fleets ships when Theon and yara escape and so they are somehow able to build thousands of the greatest ships the world has ever seen?? 1. There is no possible way they were able to build these ships in that time period, 2. The iron islands definitely doesn’t have the supplies available to create those ships, 3. He also has all the crew he needs to man the ships even though the majority of them left with Theon and yara, how did euron suddenly get thousands of men?? this is a clear example of of the show just deciding to let something happen simply for the plot to progress, no matter how illogical it is. Euron also said he would travel to Daenerys and give her his army and his big cock but now he decides to go to Cersei, why?? Cersei was the one to invite euron but as soon as he offers proposal she decides to decline him, what was the point of inviting him then. She then says that euron has broken promises to allies before… when? Where did she get this information. Given eurons naval strength why didn’t Cersei tell him to go to dragonstone and head Dany and her army off? This would have put a dent in danys army and given Cersei a better chance going forward. Matter of fact why hasn’t Cersei put anyone at dragonstone? Are we supposed to believe that the place that Dany is knowingly travelling to is just empty? Obviously stannis left so there is no difficulty for Cersei to put soldiers on dragonstone to attack Dany when she arrives. Sam: we did not need this montage of all the shit Sam had to clean up, what purpose does this scene serve, maybe to show how mundane the life of a maester is, but this still serves no relevancy to the plot in any way. Sansa: how did little finger hear brienne beat the hound in combat?? The only people who could have told him that are brienne or podrick and neither of them trust him so they wouldn’t tell him, I guess we are supposed to brush this off. Brienne asks Sansa why little finger is still here… THANK YOU THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYIJG FOR THE PAST FEW EPISODES. As soon as they won against Ramsay why hasn’t Sansa told lord Royce that little finger killed lysa, the vale are not loyal to little finger they are loyal to Robyn arryn, (where is he by the way) so if Sansa were to tell the truth little finger would be killed on the spot. She says they need him because the vale came to help because of him, but as I’ve explained above that is not the case at all. Arya: why is ed Sheeran in game of thrones, this is completely ridiculous, this takes us out of the world for the next 5 minutes. Arya is still in the Riverlands when she meets these Lannister soldiers and the weather is a normal autumn day but…… the hound is also in the riiverlands given that they find the house he killed the man and girl and the weather is a snowstorm…… where is the consistency Dumb and dumber??? How is the hound also able to dig up frozen ground? Sam: it’s a bit convenient for Sam to find the book he needs to learn everything he needs about dragonglass in one episode but I’m not to bothered with it. Why does Jorah who knows he has greyscale decide to lunge his infected arm out to reach Sam, the only thing I can think of is dumb and dumber wanted some shock value to reintroduce Jorah but this goes against everything he tried to stop from happening in the last two seasons. Dany: again why is nobody defending dragonstone or ready to attack Dany and her army when Cersei knows she is travelling there. I wouldn’t say anything in this episode is too terrible enough to give it less than a 6/10 but there isn’t really anything good in this episode either. It’s simply a mid episode

Ryan Ry

I’m not trying to fool anyone. I’m not denying that I liked it either. Is that a problem?

Shadow

I was watching QuinnTheGMs vid as grrm deleted the post lol

Amna 🍉

hotd behind the scenes drama kinda more interesting than the show itself 😭

Amna 🍉

I don't think he would randomly decide to make a public post about his issues just to be messy without trying to communicate with Ryan about them first, this felt like an final attempt so the writers can receive backlash and change things next season. I also don't think he realistically only has issues regarding one character when they've ruined multiple characters. He stated there's other things wrong with seaosn 3. I think is unfortunate that he had to deal with GOT and then this tbh. Maybe we should take a break from adaptions lol. Writers clearly don't have respect for his work nor want to honour his books.

wilcox2146

Ya also have to realize that the "buildup" for the Frey murder was the entire year spent waiting for a new season to release. The very first scene of this season with a COLD OPEN was that revenge scene. That set the tone for the whole season.

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

Yes it's my understanding that he is trying to get ahead of backlash falling solely on him as it did with GoT. He took the high road and stayed silent about Dave & Dan not listening to him (only giving small hints here and there) and this time he will not go down quietly. He's speaking his truth! And not going to make the same mistake of being smeared by a con twice!

Shadow

He said he walked away from the writers room to focus on twow. And he keeps okaying more shows. Nothing will ever change for him if he keeps just signing stuff over. He also keeps getting to choose the people that work on it. He said he doesn’t even know some of the season 3 stuff… that’s his own choice

Mitch Krueger

This comment section not gonna know what do when they are positive on this season. Yes there will be critiques every episode, but it’s crazy to see people wanting them to dislike a show, just because they did. It’s like they are judging their taste every episode. It’s batshit crazy.

Jada

I'm not even a Daenerys Stan but I was so hyped seeing finally at the place where she was born

Afra

yea she’s been through a lot running away all her life from Robert’s assassins, being married off to someone with a whole diff culture and more but never felt home or peace…

Amna 🍉

I mean naturally people are going to point out the good and bad. I hate this season but there's still some moments I love.

Jada

So many people in the comments on previous game of thrones videos stated that the geks will like this season and probably the last one. People have notice that they have the pleasure of binging the show, versus us who to wait a whole year. The Patreon members said they will like season 7 and probably season 8 countless of times. Yes, there are a few people who said they won't like it, but best believe there is a whole lot of people that came to the conclusion that they might just like the last two seasons.

Ana

Imma have to disagree. Sansa is a goofy. That still doesn't know how to play the game. Jon was completely right in that situation

Nymeria Stark

Awesome reaction as always!! 🐺 🔥good point about the Arya scenes. 6x10 is so amazing... if her revenge was developed more it could be savored a little longer. still love the episodes and these epic moments! glad they revisited part 2 of the get back in 7x1. this watch thru it made me think of the hound also having a cold open with a surprise reveal recently

milfnyra mai

notice how i said, she was wrong in that situation & isn’t the smartest person ever? i never said she was some grand master player. she’s not goofy. that’s crazy to say. like i said she has good insight into how these people think.

Zahra A

The way i keep refreshing the page for episode 2…literally can’t wait idc what ppl say even tho s7 does have its faults it’s still up there in my favorite seasons. Love your reactions and hearing your thoughts through it all!

Anna

Omg he is so mad 😮‍💨 I do not blame him

Anna

She thought it was Sansa first, then Margaery, she really is so paranoid about it 😂

Anna

The one Ed Sheeran sings! “Hands of gold are always cold, but a woman’s hands are warm” haunts Tyrion in the book bc the hand of the king wears a chain of golden hands not a pin, and that’s what he strangled Shae with in the books

Anna

D&D loved to surprise the cast with crazy stuff like the Ed cameo, they once wrote an entire fake script back in season 2 where Theon got killed by Bran while riding Hodor 🤣 they contacted all the actors and reps to make sure Alfie (Theon) believed it lmfaooo poor guy

lola

Literally like “black/white/good/evil”… bffr. Cersei blowing up the sept with hundreds of innocents within and outside of its vicinity because she did not want to face trial for crimes she has committed whilst being the sole reason the Faith were in control in the first place… how is this not her just being straight up evil??? 💀

Mitch Krueger

Yes, but they have also been told countless times, so I would use the word “manipulated” since season 1 that the show “falls off a cliff” after season 4. The entire run if this show they kept saying they hear the show sucks after season 4. This is mainly a talking point from book readers.

Lydia

Dragonstone homecoming was so visually stunning. Can we have ep 2 pls? 😩

Bellaa

im sorry but based of the geks talking about diff characters/plots in multiple reactions i dont think they will like season 8. i have not seen any comments saying they would like 8 bc i have not met one person who genuinely liked it🤣

Bellaa

and people can appreciate cinematography throughout that season but overall and story wise no

Ana

I understand what your saying. But Sansa still doesn't know anything. She just thinks she does. She's been a captive majority of the time. She hasn't been out in the world. She doesn't know how most people think. She thinks she can tell seasoned people (Jon, Davos) what's right when she has no idea. Sansa thinks she's smarter than what she is. Little finger barely showed her anything. She's never been battle. She's never had to secure alliances. Jon barely survived due to her not telling him about the Knights of the vale. All she does is undermine Jon and still haven't gave him a proper apology for how she treated him. Now book Sansa is gonna be a boss but show Sansa is an L. And don't take the word goofy seriously that's just how I talk and the slang used in my environment. I just disagree with putting some respect on Sansa's name because she hasn't done anything to earn that respect

NoneOfYourBeeswax

I just think it's because the guys are talking over tne scenes a great deal more than they used to.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

You had no problem because you saw just another Lannister soldier. But to people who recognised him it shattered the willing suspension of disbelief and all they could see was a huge 21st c, Pop star in a Lannister costume, surrounded with extras in Lannister costume.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

The only GRRM post I'm interested in is the one that says he's finished writing TWOW. However, I'm resigned to the fact that I'll only see that in my dreams!

7thdilemma

Plot contrivance... hmm. What about the construction of the scene feels unnaturally contrived? Other than perhaps the soldiers being too wholesome. It does feel a little odd that the first scene we see of Arya travelling is when she stumbles unto someone else's camp, but then that's more of a pacing issue.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

If he spent as much time writing TWOW as he does whining in blog posts, the damn book might have been finished by now.

TheSauceGuy

Yeah, this season has those "epic" moments as I've said before, but if you pay attention, you'll see that all logic has been thrown out the window lol. I do disagree with a couple of your points though.

TheSauceGuy

I bet he knew that he'd have to delete it but also knew that people would just screenshot and reupload it.

TheSauceGuy

I mean, he doesn't have that much more time in his life left. I'd imagine he wants people to just stay faithful to his work; budget restrictions shouldn't cause an entire ripple effect like that.

TheSauceGuy

Well he makes it clear that Maelor the Missing was missing due to budget constraints, but this probably should've been planned better.

TheSauceGuy

The final sentence of the blog shows that he knows some of what is in store (or at least ideas) for seasons 3 and 4. When he says he has "...no idea what Ryan has planned," I think he's referring to Maelor specifically.

TheSauceGuy

Well, the writer's betrayed his character in order to make him fall off lol

TheSauceGuy

i'm not defending their decisions, but a decade of a show is bound to be tiring for everyone involved

TheSauceGuy

Block everyone. Seriously though, I still get my upload ones but they come up after I've finished watching the upload half the time lol.

TheSauceGuy

This was the worst-rated episode of the season on IMDB at 8.5 lmao. I cannot fathom how people rate some of the episodes in this show. I'm sorry, the bitterness is taking hold.

wilcox2146

All fair criticism, but Arya as a character now is all secrets and moving unnoticed. If they had shown the lead up to the murder the payoff wouldn’t be as big. Ex: the scene with Meryn Trant wouldn’t be as good if we knew Arya was wearing that girls face the whole time. And to be fair, nobody cares about Freys sons, even Frey himself lol.

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

He said he walked away because he was being the bigger person and not going to smear them. He really walked away because they refused to include details that were critical to the story. His last straw was not including Lady Stoneheart, Young Griff, or Connington and some other angles along the way. Eventually they kept him out of talks and downright refused his input, using their power as show runners and his little power under contract as "only the author". It isn't totally his own choice or under his control. How many times have we seen stuff happen with shows because of producer or network interference??? It's because corporate has the most power. He was essentially put on as a writer. Why are there writers strikes every few years? Because they have no power and say to ultimately dictate or override creative decisions. Just because it is his creation or he writes for the show does not mean squat once he signs rights to adapt away and franchise. He already wrote on TV shows back in the day and left explicitly because of the limitations that had. ASOIAF exists BECAUSE of his bad experiences with tv and producers and I don't know why he thought it might be different decades later. He is not totally absolved of responsibility in putting faith and trust in the system, BUT as I've said with Dan & Dave they manipulated him into thinking his say would be king, that they were true and genuine fans of the source and would honor the material. It's happened again with Ryan who he had full trust in. He can't soley be blamed for being conned or betrayed by people he has relationships or built trust, even if it's false on their account. He didn't think someone he trusted would then just decide not to listen, care, or be sensitive. There's also a lot of pressure for changes from high ups as things go along for profit reasons that everyone underneath wanting to keep their jobs just shuts up about. The media institution as a whole is the problem. You've seen Hollywood? How is it not obvious this isnt isolated or down to a problem of solely individual responsibility? I honestly don't know why he keeps writing more, probably because twow isn't fun to write anymore with all the hate and backlash from other people publicly corrupting his work and endlessly vilifying him, and idky he has no one around him he can really trust, probably because power and institution corrupts as we should all be attuned to by now, but imo we should all be supporting him, creators, and writers everywhere, and condemning interference by corporate mass scale profit motives alone. We have to see the real problem to get what we want. The Geks said they don't want to watch H&L for future shows answering those questions, but I personally won't be watching because the state of things dictates there will mostly be dissatisfaction imo. I'm not trying to be a doomer or tell anyone what to do, but these types of scenarios and let downs are not going to improve until the actually workers dictate the means of production. Ted Lasso, Severance what streaming service were those on? Apple? Some filters through but the reasons are based on where power consolidates. If anyone read this unibomber rant thanks 🥹😭😅

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

Can you point out which people, comments, or percentage of patrons "want" them to dislike it? I see people stating their own criticisms, and thinking they may not like certain things literally based on their own words throughout their watch. I really don't understand how 3 people saying they don't like season 7 without including any caveats = "a large percentage of patrons are subconsciously manipulating them into thinking they don't like something". Give them credit. 7x1 is pretty good compared imo, if any of them see any glaring issues going forward, will they be able to speak up without you and others in the comments condemning them as brainwashable sheep? Is it that hard to believe that people exist who don't like s7 for actual specific reasons and people exist who do, simultaneously? Genuine questions. 🙂

Leo

Yeah. They shared the final season script to bran actor. He thought it was a prank.

Leo

I agree with Sean on lyanna being cringe.

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

And we can't really get into detail why we dislike s7&8 yet so maybe that contributes to this idea that it's just this general sentiment for nothing. I honestly think most will generally enjoy both, minus a few things (which is all I've actually seen anyone else say). And book readers opinions shouldn't have to go unspoken, the OG fans that made this property popular enough for it to be screen adapted all these years later.

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

I can't explicitly say until next season. GEKS DONT READ further for a non spoilery hint ... But I can say plot contrived set up is audience manipulation and =/= character development. There was a faithful way to do it that they coulda done, it barely pays off correctly imo.

Icchi

He’s literally the same character from s1, and I’m not a fan of blaming the writers for everything we don’t agree with. He’s always been a cringe bag simp, only in it for himself and Catelyn, the girl he never had. His fall off is perfectly in line with that. And he betrayed the Starks… we really defending this dude?

Mitch Krueger

He literally uses the exact trendy talking points in this video that everyone uses for Season 8… “The creators wanted to go make Star Wars is what I’ve heard”. Which means they obviously have been paying close attention and have had major pre-conceived notions which started in season 1 and was only exacerbated throughout the first 4 seasons from the comment section. They literally just had to make a video addressing rampant hare comments…You’re missing the point. It’s not about giving criticism, there is no issue there, critique away. It’s the people that have been telling them since Season 1 that the show sucks after S4 and then a whole other group that like S6 telling them it sucks after S6… How about just let them decide, and you give your criticisms when those episodes come. It’s a fact that this comment section and fandom have affected their watch…

Leo

Over 2,000 costumes, weapons, props, and set decorations from HBO’s #GameOfThrones are being auctioned off. Items include: • Daenerys Targaryen’s dragon egg • Jon Snow’s Longclaw • Arya Stark’s Needle • Daenerys & Cersei’s wardrobes • The Iron Throne (Auction link: entertainment.ha.com/c/auction-home…) Guys can someone donate me $20,000? So that I can buy longclaw 😂🤣🤣.

JAY

Your link didn’t work but I found the auction via google. There some realllllly cool stuff in there 😭 wish I had money

Mss Lee

It’s pretty hilarious when y’all ask logical questions (how did she mimic his voice!) —in a series that features blood magic, witches and dragons 🤣

Nomaan

I’d rather they just gave the stuff to the cast that deserved it especially after that ending rather than a little cash grab 5 years later 😭

Al Boxley

This is my first time following a Patreon and I’m new so idk if this is normal, but am I crazy for thinking if they’re gonna be late, in this case an entire day, just giving a heads up. I love the guys and know they all have lives but I see people commenting about refreshing for like hours on end. A simple update would show a lot of respect for other peoples’ times. ion even personally care until I see these people commenting and I’m not sure why they’re not sticking up for themselves. They pay for this lol

Eliana Ayala

Same I put my volume all the way up then turn it down when it gets loud for example when they scream from excitement 😂👍

Leo

Chill, dude. They won't release episode on special day in a week but they will release three episodes per week.

Al Boxley

Oh I’m an idiot lol, I thought it was Mon-Fri, like I said I’m new and don’t know how this works haha. I couldn’t find any pinned schedule so I wasn’t sure how it worked. I made multiple assumptions for sure, but thought I prefaced my comment w that well enough, my b. Think you could have also maybe just said that, instead of throwing on your gold cloak my boy. If it’s just three days a week tho, wouldn’t people appreciate some kind of schedule at least knowing the day?

Al Boxley

Wow good point, I have no idea what I was thinking asking that question, I have so much experience on here. Thanks Leo for volunteering to moderate the Patreon comments for free man! We really appreciate it!

Jake

That’s fair I think a lot of people bitterness be starting to creep in. Do you think it was rated too high compared to the rest? Or you think all the episodes should have lower ratings?

Fatipapi

“Dany and Jon, and I’m gonna be so jealous” same Tsukki, same 😭

Fatipapi

Alys Karstark looks like Sansa from Temu

CHIEF

tiktok talking point, not the first, won't be the last to say so. I think GRRM poorly planned his series causing his current dilemma but this point is just tired, lazy and untrue

CHIEF

"You think I listened to father for 40 years and learned noth-" "Yep" LMFAO that was so good

TheSauceGuy

Are you the Anna that explained to me on the Discord the super long theory about Tyrion being a Targaryen in the books? If you are, I'm looking for a couple more people to join a group chat of mine for HotD/GoT yapping. If you're down, just DM me on Discord (the.sauce.guy). There are at least three Anna's that regularly talk in these comments lol.

JBurley

I've never heard anyone complain about how Arya killed the Freys....I personally found it perfect. He was on her list since season 3 ep 10. Arya is also my GOAT so I may be biased.
