JoLen

LET’S GOOO I’ve been waiting

Bradlynn Andrus

idk why but I got so teary at the end 😔😔

studiogek

Pretty unanimous that Bilbo is the goat of this trilogy

Kacie Mills

I don't know if you guys have already mentioned it, but are you considering doing a group watch of Rings of Power?

Alex

Damn wish you guys watched the extended editions.

weekzz

Wait, is this not the full version? I remember correctly seeing there’s a battle first between the elves and dwarves for a couple moments before they’re fighting together

Reflekt0r

Thr girls should watch Dark with you together.

Samuel

Noooo y'all should have done the extended edition missed some cool scenes😭 The only thing I don't like about the extended edition though is the way the lighting looks

TheSauceGuy

Bradlyn with the hottest take ever in first two minutes

JoLen

You guys have to watch the extended scene with the goats

TheSauceGuy

I forgot that Bard used a normal bow at first as there was no Windlance lol. It's crazy that he was able to get enough force with that makeshift crossbow thing.

Scinaps

If the girls think Kili is cute they should watch Poldark 😉

TheSauceGuy

Alfird is so comically vile.

Scinaps

The ginger one (Gloin) is Gimlis dad. The white haired one is Balin whose grave the Felllowship find in Moria in the LotR films. The scribe corpse holding the book saying "they are coming" is the goofy haired young dwarf.

TheSauceGuy

I forgot that the hobbit movies even had extended versions. How much longer are they?

Brig Andrus

ABSOLUTE CINEMA

Scinaps

Christopher Lee was the true GOAT. 92 when filming this. That man also made metal albums at that age, his life was ridiculous 😆

TheSauceGuy

Thranduil's elk looks like an Irish Elk. They're extinct now, but their antlers were enormous like that.

Scinaps

I wonder if Galadriels power was drained here which is why she's more subdued in LotR. Elves power is in their internal life-force (light) - Galadriel is from the original elf lands and was present while the trees were alive and bathed in their light - which means she had a lot of OP power even without the ring.

JoLen

I may be biased because I watched Hobbit before LOTR, but I enjoy these movies over LOTR. Of course all 6 are amazing, but the Hobbit just has a certain charm

TheSauceGuy

We got Thorin's Jeff Bezos arc.

JoLen

See you guys back for Harry Potter or Pirates of the Caribbean 😉

TheSauceGuy

I think the fact that many of the Men are from a simple fishing town, yet still bravely fight the orcs is saying something. The elves almost decided not to fight at all despite being a massive army; at least the dwarves charged right in lol.

Scinaps

"The peak of men killed Sauron and stuff", nah Brig those were mostly Numenoreans elite 7foot+ race and again with the help of elves 🤣

Shadow

Lesgooo

Scinaps

Ngl "Azog the Defiler" would be a great p*** actor name 💀💀

TheSauceGuy

Bolg had that cartoon "uh oh" look for 3 seconds before Legolas killed him lmao

SirCatelot

From the wiki The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey contains 13 minutes of additional footage. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug contains 25 minutes of additional footage. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies contains 20 minutes of additional footage.

SirCatelot

Personaly my least favorite of the trilogy. mainly because of the long ass battle, but the whole Thorin and Dragon sickness was awesome. 7.5/10

safaricat

Lemme just clear up the Frodo confusion. Frodo has parents, they live elsewhere I think out where the Tooks live. Bilbo has no heir to his home and fortune so he chose Frodo to inherit being as how he enjoys Frodo's company. Frodo came to live with Bilbo in his 20's or 30's. Frodo explained it at the beginning of the Fellowship. Also the Eagles were grabbing Orcs and dropping them from high up. the wind was the first attack then they started picking them up and throwing them. Not to mention they probably got a few with their talons cause they gotta be massive on birds that big. Amazing watch. This one has always been my favorite of the 3.

TheSauceGuy

Would Smaug no diff the eagles?

TheSauceGuy

"Smeagol, maybe he's just close to God" lmao, so true.

TheSauceGuy

I'm gonna be weird and put Azog, Bolg, and Smaug in my top three since they're such fun antagonists.

TheSauceGuy

I think my love for the second film is probably due to Smaug, but without him, it'd be lower than this one for me.

TheSauceGuy

What movies do you guys plan to watch next?

Oliver

Not watching the extended edition skipping so much battle is a crime. It was only years later i saw that the elves and dwarves actual killed some of each other

Paula

Never saw a group of people who didn’t understand Thorin so much. Like don’t get the character at all Still, thanks for the LOTR and hobbit reaction, even though I grew sooooo frustrated at the last two :D

NoneOfYourBeeswax

"Da" is the Welsh equivalent of "Pa", it's just "Dad" without the last d. Bard and his family all use Welsh accents.

Voskar

Loved your reaction. This movie is one of my favourites especially the extended Version. There was so much cut out of the battle between the elves and the dwarves that it's sad. Maybe rewatch next year the extended Versions of all Lotr and Hobbit Movies?

NoneOfYourBeeswax

"(Thorin)... couldn't even take Azog" - she says of the man who defeated him once already and chopped off his forearm in the process :D

NoneOfYourBeeswax

The goats were the Goats. How else would Thorin and the dwarves got to Azog's tower so fast? ;)

NoneOfYourBeeswax

He also told Peter Jackson what sound Sauron would make when Wormtongue stabbed him in the back in LotR - he knew because he had actually stabbed and killed people as part of the UK's original Special Forces units World War 2.

Sasha

I wish Harry Potter reactions are coming soon🙏

NoneOfYourBeeswax

Blaming Thorin for his behaviour under Dragon Sickness is like blaming your grandad with Dementia for his conduct.

jrnoodles

Thank Geks+! One thing I noticed in this trilogy and also from LOTR I guess, is that the orcs and trolls immune system have some crazy adaptability. They have crazy body modification and it doesn't seem to bother them one bit.

CoLdBITeR

Did carter lose his ring?

Carrie

I would be very interested to see what they think of ROP. I know it’s a bit controversial but honestly so are the Hobbit movies 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nomaan

Have all the Geks seen all the Marvel movies? If you have would u consider doing rewatches? It would be fun to watch along after Harry Potter!

Nasty

oh please no, that one shall not be named it's horrible in every aspect.

Mysterious Figure

Carter's side eye to Bradlynn when she said about Thorin: "he's kinda juicy now, I like a powerful guy..." LMAO Carter

Liam

Fuck no please don’t do this I’ll upgrade my membership to prevent this from happening

Seth Aasland

elf drip/weapons will always be top tier. over half the time whenever i’m playing DND my character is an elf lol

NoneOfYourBeeswax

That's what they keep telling us... and there's an obvious agenda behind that. I'm enjoying it and I suspect the Geks would too because I don't see any evidence of them having that sort of agenda.

Blackeyedlily

Frodo’s parents died in a boating accident when he was young. Afterwards he lived with Merry’s family, before Bilbo adopted him.

Scinaps

Bradlynn - check out "Poldark" for Killi and "The Fall" for Legolas dad. Both are masterpieces

Gam Mac

The extended edition is 100000000x better. My first time watching this movie was the extended edition (without knowing it was the extended edition). I rewatched the movie again with friends who had not seen the movie before and we streamed the regular edition and I was so disappointed cuz all the favourite parts that I wanted my friends to see were missing 😭😭😭😭😭

Chris Sanford

Ya'll's opinions on Thorin genuinely blows my mind. Like to the point where I'm wondering if we even watched the same 3 movies. Btw this is 0 hate, just sharing my criticism because the Thorin slander was unreal and a little bit of mob mentality. 1. The fight with Azog in the first movie. Just my opinion but I don't see how Thorin could have been in the wrong, or have looked like a chump. Azog was on a massive warg and refused to fight Thorin on equal terms, which as we've seen Azog does that at every turn against Thorin not just in the first movie. Yeah sure he got clapped but Azog on his own is menacing, the warg was just way overkill. Thorin would have also been tired from all the running, fighting and tree climbing going on up to the start of the fight. 2. Saying he's a failure is INSANE. YES he got bailed out by Gandalf in the first movie, and by Bilbo in the second, BUT aside from those moments Thorin was usually the only Dwarf in the company willing to take action. He was the mastermind in the plan to force Smaug out of the mountain, and considering 0 Dwarves died in that effort I'd say it was a massive success. He was able to do what an entire army/ civilization could not, in getting under Smaug's skin enough to tilt him into making a mistake. 3. I know Carter and Cannon mentioned it, but the Dragon Sickness did plague his mindset for basically the first half of the movie. In the first 2 films though none of the decisions he made seemed off to me. From his point of view he's one of the last of Durin's line, who was the most prolific Dwarf in the history of Middle Earth by every single standard. Having to keep up with that legacy while also trying to provide for his group of Longbeards would make him very proud and extremely unwilling to let go of things others have done to wrong them. Case in point, Thranduil offered them aid and freedom in return for gems that Thorin genuinely would not miss. Sure Bilbo bailed him out, but the fairy tale style in which the Hobbit was written makes it to where time and time again the Dwarves would get lucky, which you can see in all of their fights. Fate also played a big part of it, but I don't at all see any of that making Thorin look like a failure. If he was a failure he would have found a way to screw it all up regardless of luck and fate, which he could have easily done in key moments where we saw his true character come out. Like I said before 0 hate and maybe since I only mostly recall the extended versions of these movies they left some important Thorin character arc moments out (PJ left out integral parts to the story so he could make the extended versions have a better reason to be purchased). But I still feel like the Thorin hate was wild, I think once 1 person kept hammering home their hate for Thorin before even letting his arc happen that's really all the rest of you kept believing until most of you were on his hate train. He really isn't that bad, and easily has the best character arc in this trilogy. Bilbo is obviously second but in my opinion he completes his in the first movie. In 2 and 3 Bilbo doesn't really have room to evolve. Also if we want to compare Frodo to Thorin, Frodo was time and time again tempted by the ring into making mistakes. Fate itself and Sam were really his only saving graces in the Two Towers and Return, whereas Thorin broke his temptations and made the right decisions when it mattered. 1 more thing, I'm obviously suuuuuper bored at work right now or I wouldn't be typing all this lmao. Love you guys, keep up the dope content!

Arctic_stark

Geks, I have to say this so I hope you see this. Watch Rings of Power. Ignore the noise outside and watch and judge for yourself. I am probably the most well read Tolkien fan here and you’ll be shocked to know that the Peter Jackson movies were also not accurate to the books. These shows aren’t either. But they’re starting to become really good live action Tolkien adaptations in their own right. There are questions you’ve asked today in this video that can only be answered in that show for instance. As a true fan of Tolkien, after these reactions I see you the same. This show is for us.

LuvStarburst

Those white gems were for legolas' mother which is why the king wanted them so bad

LuvStarburst

You see the mountain goats in the extended version and the fights are better in the extended version.

LuvStarburst

Love everything you mentioned and the extended versions are so much better

parALICEis

Galdadriel standing up to Sauron has to be my favorit scene in the whole franchise ngl
