Anbu black ops are not better than Jonin, they're mostly Jonin who specialize in reconnaissance, stealth missions, and assassinations. Most of them are low jonin strength. If you wanted to make a powerscale, it would mostly go Genin < Chunin < Jonin < Sanin (Sanin isn't an official ninja rank but a title. Howeverer the gap between Jonin and Kage is huge so people include it) < Kage. Other people online use low/mid/high when stating a rank too. So Kakashi would be high jonin/low sanin.

Also canon yea the Anbu black ops are kind of a retcon. In OG Naruto they’re touted as the best of the best yet all we see from them is getting bodied to show how strong orichimaru and other villains are in comparison. Def one of my complaints with the series.

They glaze the anbu like crazy and then always show them getting packed up. So i think Kishimoto felt like he had to keep them hidden to not fuck up his power scaling. Also Anbu members could leave anbu and go back to standard jonin operations. Like if a navy seal left to join the army rangerse lol.

But also I feel like you guys aren’t paying attention enough which sometimes happens with subs bc it’s hard to watch what’s happening and catch all the details in writing, but certain things have been made fairly obvious or repeated and you’re not catching it. Like the sand siblings for example. Also, it was stated earlier by lord third in OG with a CHART AND EVERYTHING about the ninja ranks and how it all works. But sometimes group reactors miss things bc they’re reacting to each other. Again it’s hard with subs not to miss everything, but you can’t say you didn’t see it or “how would I know” ANBU are not higher than Jonin. Jonin is the 2nd highest rank after Kage. ANBU is just a division. Assuming everyone wants brig to answer these questions on things already revealed without spoiling for future.

Agree except for the sub blaming. This has nothing to do with subs. JACK is doing an awsome job understanding the premises of the show in sub. Problem IMO is with the retention of information and storage space which is LIMITED due to the amount of shows they watch at the same time. Not liking or fully understanding the show doest help that memory, it probably diminishes it even more. Even if ppl watched in Dub I'm sure they wouldn't be able to connect all the pieces like others can, I being one of them.

P.S. Bad match ups do exist in Naruto. Where someone who scales slightly higher than one person will end up losing due to abilities/jutsus or team synergy. For example, Neji being able to defeat Kidomaru because the gentle fist technique and byakugan hard countered Kidomaru's spider abilities. (I can't provide more examples that I want because they'd be spoilers)

He did say that. Kakashi hasn’t trained for years because his only focus was mission. He only picked up training after Team 7 was formed to protect them. But even in OG Naruto, Kakashi was regarded as the strongest shinobi in the village (except for Hokage and sannin)

@Cannon atm it isn't defined but it doesn't hurt to clear up: jinchuriki are the HOSTS for the tailed beasts. So naruto and garaa are jinchuriki.

Regarding the anbu though, up to this point it's never mentioned in the manga or anime that Kakashi was a former anbu member so in Canon's defense this is information that the Geks weren't aware of yet

Though they did forget the time Kabuto infiltrated the hospital to kill Sasuke & took down a couple anbu members in the process yet when he was confronted by Kakashi he ended up running away so they should generally be aware that the anbu black ops are typical jonin but It's also understandable why Canon assumed anbu black ops were stronger than your average jonin as they're implied to be the cream of the crop aswell as the fact that they're cool looking ninja, with cool looking masks/outfits who hide there identity & directly take orders from the hokage

One reason Kakashi might not seem as powerful is that he doesn’t possess large-scale ninjutsu like some other characters. The Geks always marvel at Gaara’s ninjutsu, and while Gaara is indeed formidable, there is actually a huge power gap between the OG Gaara and OG Kakashi, which the show doesn’t fully convey. Another possible reason is the caliber of his opponents: Zabuza, Orochimaru, and Itachi. Kishimoto deliberately uses Kakashi to highlight how formidable these opponents are. You’ll see more of his abilities as the show progresses. Think about it: why else would the Third Hokage entrust Kakashi with the only Jinchuriki, Naruto, and the last Uchiha, Sasuke? Even though it’s not stated out, the arrangement of classes cannot be random.

@S0ul YgR @RichieSour we see his anbu tatooo when he's in the hospital aswell as around the third hokages funeral I believe - I also think it's alluded to in the Land of Waves arc when Haku is masquerading as a "tracker ninja" from the mist so an attentive viewer could assume he's in the anbu based of these clues but based solely off manga/anime it's never explicitly stated. I say solely based on the manga/anime cause I just did a little research & in the first Naruto movie (not canon) Kakashi is apparently assigned an anbu mission aswell as in the games Ultimate Ninja 2 & 3 which were released as early as 2004 - Kakashi can be seen in anbu attire

I might have missed this, but when did Jack say that Kakashi was in the Anbu? I heard him say at the beginning of this video that Itachi was in the Anbu Black Ops, but nothing about Kakashi. Also I just saw @Big Brother 2's comment and it’s true, Kakashi says he was a former Anbu member in chapter 27. However, when I look at the anime scene, which is in episode 16, that line isn't added, and I didn't see anything that is indicating that Kakashi was a former Anbu member.

I'm sorry but Sasuke pre-Itachi comeback was an actual angel. He might've been shy or more blunt or whatever but he's a fucking genocide orphan. Otherwise he was always there giving food to Naruto during the bell test, jumping in front of Naruto to save him from Haku, fighting that Sound ninja guy because he hurt Sakura. While fighting Gaara in the forest, he straight up says he never wants to see people he cares about die again. Sorry to get so defensive but it's been YEARS, DECADES of people in the fandom and outside it mischaracterising Sasuke and his friendship towards Naruto. I love Gaara, top 10 material for me, but for now Gaara did absolutely nothing to be considered a better friend to Naruto. Thankfully he got really inspired by Naruto and is doing absolutely amazing in changing his ways and working through his trauma but he was a murderous maniac in Part 1. Maybe that's why some elements of the final fight in Part 1 Naruto didn't hit as much for you guys, but understanding their two characters and their friendship is what made that fight absolutely generational as a side note

The Anbu black ops are not necessarily so much higher then Jonin. They are actually jonin themselves. But they serve the Hogake as a "secret" personal squad that carry missions on the Hogake's personal requests. They also serve as bodyguard's. They are a special kind of Ninja that deal with some more obscure underground type of missions that regular ones dont.

As a doctor (not working as one as I just graduated lol) Sakura is one of my favourites - as a kid because I knew I wanted to become one and finally there was a main character from a popular show that is related to medicine, and as a grown up because I wish people would acknowledge the importance of people in medical fields (more so a problem in Eastern Europe, I think in America not so much). She may not be a good ninja for attacking, but without a healer in the team they are very screwed up.

One of you mentioned that Gaara had Temari and Kankuro, so he wasn’t totally alone. That’s true, but I think both Temari and Kankuro were reluctant to be around him since he was pretty much a psychopath from what we saw in OG. They were probably kept away from him when he was a kid, as well, since his dad was actively trying to drive him to the brink. So, while they were there, Gaara was still alone in the sense that he had no one who actually cared for him.

Tokebetsu Jonin are chosen as specialized Jonin who have exceptional skills in a certain area: (communication, infiltration, interrogation, info gathering, tailing). But the having the full rank of Jonin, has to mean that you're big step above nearly every chunin the village in both combat, stealth and general tactics. And Elite Jonins(not an official rank, just a classification) would be a step even beyond that. Leaf Jonin at this point in time in general tend to be on average stronger than the Jonins from other villages.

I feel like in the manga it was only implied the Anbus were the best among the non-Elite Jonins... Since most Anbus are shown to take Orders from full fledged Jonins. Like they probably on average scale to Tokebetsu/low Jonin level to begin with. Since we know that Chunins themselves can actually apply to be a member of the Anbu, they usually have to complete a special mission in order to do so.

YO you're right @Ke Sendo... I just rewatched ep 16-17 and Kakashi makes no meniton of being a part of the anbu. Although I dont know how I could've known that Kakashi was an Anbu Member by the time I had finished part 1. I only started to even read the manga after reaching a certain point in Shippuden. The anime in Part 1 still shows Kakashi's Anbu Tattoo, but honestly I dont think any first time watcher would even be able to infer anything from that. Cannon, you were partially right. Temari and Kankuro were physically present in Gaara's life. So he wasn't technically alone as a child. But they explored some in the first series of how both of them were terrified of Gaara, they stuck by him out of fear and duty, not love. It was only after the chunin exams that they started to act more like siblings.

The power scaling/system in this show is terribly inconsistent and all over the place, so don't blame yourselves if it confuses you at times. I recommend not to think about it too much and not waste times trying to compare power levels between characters, or else you'll lose your minds lol.

A poison that kills you over the course of 3 days means more resources will be spent on the care of the victim, with the expectation that he will die anyway. Even if they survive, you still made them useless for all the duration of the treatment+recovery, while having drain the enemy's resources. In war the objective is not just to kill for the sake of it, but to also waste your enemy's resources and time. That is why land mines are usually designed to blow your legs off and hopefully not kill you. That said, it could also just be because Sasori is a sadist and wants his victims to suffer lol, who knows.

The Scaling in this show isnt all over the place tbh... Its closer to HxH scaling all things considered. The Powersystem itself is not very well-explained and has certain inconsistencies... It can be very confusing especially in the anime where certain 'techniques' are double mistranslated. Although I wouldn't necessarily say its all over the place either. Its simple in design but has alot of universal diversity thats established very early on in the series.

Sasori stated it takes 3 days for the Poison to finally kill you right? Later on we're shown that the Fuinjutsu: Nine Phantom Dragons takes about 3 days(or 2, I forgot) to completely extract A Bijuu out of its Jinchuriki host. I think Sasori potentially initially designed the poison to be used on Jinchurikis, although realistically it should've been made to take 4-5 days to kill someone since travelling to a hideout where the _____ can be summoned would probably take 1-2 days. Maybe he had initially designed the poison under the assumption that they'd get to the hideout on the same day they capture a Jinchuriki? I don't know.

@FerociousSpark SPOILER ALERT That's true to some extent early on (I even indirectly acknowledge it in another comment). Later on, especially in the Pain arc forward, we both know that's thrown out the window and whoever has the biggest d*ck wins 99% of the time. Characters like Kakashi, Jiraiya or Orochimaru become basically fodder compared to many characters later on, even when they were setup to be legendary shinobi at first.

SPOILER ALERT It is nothing like HxH in my opinion. Hxh sets up very specific rules to it's power system, and for the most part abides by them. Even when there are abilities and/or characters that are broken or overpowered, there are always very good reasons to justify them. There are characters that are introduced as being very strong, and they remain to be considered very strong all the way (Hisoka being a clear example). In the case of Naruto, not only the rules of the game are keep VERY vague, but whenever you are introduced to a character that is supposed to be very strong, you are almost guaranteed that eventually they will feel incredibly weak compared to future characters, and whenever a powerful jutsu is introduced, you are almost guaranteed that it will become useless on the foreseeable future (probably because every character onwards will have a way to deal with it).

Oi, I doubt y'all are even gonna look at this and nobody will particularly care to read this, but I just thought I'd say your reactions have been kind of lacking as of late. I started watching when y'all were partway through aot season 1 and thought that mayhaps you guys could fill the void that I've felt I had in regards to online content creator entertainment, but I think I was wrong. I respect everybody's opinion, especially in regards to entertainment since its pretty subjective, but I feel like you guys just get a bit too nitpicky, miss stuff that seems pretty obvious to any of the media you watch (anime in particular), or focus a bit too much on one aspect of a show that might be lacking. Also, y'all seem to care about face paced or action oriented shows a bit too much imo. Despite all I have said, I just wanted to say thanks for bringing me the entertainment you did. I'll perhaps check back in however long to see what's up, but until then just keep being yourselves and thanks for reading this word vomit if you've made it this far. ✌️

Guys don't pressure them too much. Maybe they posted OP first because they like that show more. Carter just said that 40 episodes of OP were much better than all of Naruto so it makes sense

Nothing wrong with how you feel. but why expect reactors, to react a certain way to validate your own point of views. I think it's an extremely selfish point of view. I totally get it tho, when you're passionate about something, you'd rather find reactions that validate how you feel, rather than the opposite. But I just think it's unfair, to expect that of reactors. They can't .. possibly, realistically, react to all things, in a way that'll always validate your own views.

he didnt say he wants them to like or dislike whatever shows hes talking about to validate his feelings. his message is moreso about the manner of the reaction (the nitpicking or tunneling on certain things and just missing things that affect the reaction). I know, it's their job but instead of pressuring them we should just let it be. I empathize with them and understand that just pressure will lead them to even hating doing reactions. I understand everyone's point of view, since we payed and everything but at the end of the day, if they continue to do something you don't like you should maybe just find another reactors ( ik it's hard bcs I like their reactions too much to not watch them).

That's what I find really strange about the Naruto reactions at least from Carter mostly. He liked Shogun despite the lack of constant violence yet Naruto talking (not the flashbacks) puts him to sleep, maybe he is just tired from all the videos they react to, idk.

What!? I don't think about that as POWER GAPS. I think that's one of the themes of Naruto, there's always someone better, hence keep growing/never settle? That's what makes Naruto special IMO, they connect to real life with the lessons they try to convey and this is a basic one kids and grown ups need. There's pain and everyone's time comes to an end. It's awsome that they come up with crazy cool characters and keep shoving these lessons down your throat so maybe they can actually stick

I didnt think the flashbacks were THAT bad in OG tbh(though they still were pretty bad at times), the real problem were the long ahh Recaps. I don't know whether or not Carter will truly enjoy Shippuden.

@Gaboxxy SPOILER: Are you referring to HxH's powersystem or scaling? Cause I'm talking about the overall scaling itself when comparing to HxH. Not the powersystem. Also I just disagree, I'm not sure if you're also reading HxH so I'm not gonna spoil too much. We both know Naruto and HxH establish insanely strong characters from pretty early on within its verse. Although neither HxH or Naruto establish the upper-ends of the top of the verse via just its introduction. One of the first ever characters Naruto introduces is a Tailed Beast stated to be capable of smashing Mountains with its tails and creating tidal waves, and we know this beast gets sealed by another really strong character(the 4th Hokage) that is essentially what the main character's initial benchmark is set to be(later on we get introduced to the 1st Hokage and Itachi as well). Ofc these earlier established characters don't come close to what the true top of the verse looks like in terms of scaling but I disagree with the notion that they ever feel 'weak' throughout the story. Because otherwise the likes of Hisoka and even Netero would also feel weak, because we know that they don't compare to the currently established top-of-the verse in terms of power(PR Mereum) or even hax(Nanika). And I'm of the opinion that the top-end of the powerscale in HxH is going to rise even more, based on certain things and implications from the manga's current arc(assuming it finishes). I think the reason you feel certain characters in Naruto feel weak later on is probably cause of how INSANELY fast the main characters themselves end up growing within the context of the verse in comparison to HxH's main character cast(besides Kurapika ofc). Especially after the Time-Skip. Which in turn increases their adversity(in terms of villains). The main characters' get super strong super fast within the context of the verse(during certain arcs). Which I suppose can make some people feel that the villains in the earlier arcs were weak. Although I'm ngl it does take quite a while for certain characters(specifically certain 'villains') established to be extremely strong, to actually be truly surpassed by the main characters even after they've perished. Regardless, I went on this whole spiel forgetting that my initial point of my original reply was Naruto's powerscaling itself isnt really inconsistent. Its closer to HxH in terms of ease of scaling the leagues between alot of the characters. And it doesnt really break any established power-levels(except for one) for the most part, other than characters just getting generally stronger. Its just that in Naruto Shippuden the scale in terms of adversity(per arc) tends to rise with its main cast(as they get stronger), whereas in HxH it fluctuates per arc usually uninfluenced by how strong their main characters are at the time. Its a lot more DBZ-like with Naruto.

You have to keep in mind that they (more like Cannon & Carter) were introduced to the crème de la crème of what anime has to offer (aot, JJK, hxh, …). They’ve also watched a decent amount already so they can compare. Now even though they do their best to remain openminded to the shows they’re watching right now, it’s hard not to be critical. Naruto is usually one of the shows that has introduced a lot of people to anime (me including) so they’re emotionally attached/biased to it. However, rewatching it now after all these years got me legit realizing how blind I was to all the flaws that the show has. Yes it has very high peaks further down the line, but accept the fact it also has major lows… Add to this personal taste every reactor has and you’re bound to get different type of reactions
