Haikyuu is categorized as a slice of life so I think for the people who enjoy the simplicity of SOL anime like this because it has that extra factor of “action” with the volleyball but we enjoy it for the characters just as much. And it has good writing and great character development

Since the scale and genre of the show is much smaller it focuses on characters and their interactions and ambitions instead of some civilization conflict or war with aliens. Its a "feel good with the bros" type of show that some people may need in their life.

The new sports glasses scene was funny to me. Tsukki for sure thought they were cool gifts from his brother until Hinata whom he thinks is the epitome of uncool, he's like a 9 yr old kid trapped in a 15 yr old body, kept saying it's cool many many many times 😂 I can see how Tsukki thinks that. I am glad they caught that the "Simplicity and Fortitude" banner defines Daichi. I love how Furudate uses team banners in different ways. Sometimes it defines the whole team, like "Fly" with Karasuno because they are crows and "Connect" with Nekoma because they are so good at receiving and keeping the ball in the play. Sometimes it is mostly about one team member like Aoba Johsai with "Rule the Court" which is obviously about Oikawa (I think this is the coolest one for me). It just makes it fun learning about these new teams and understanding what their banner is about.

haikyuu is for people who enjoy slice of life and positive shows. i don't think people that like aot, berserk type of shows would like it that much. i used to love aot type of shows before and haikyuu didn't impress me at all (i found it super boring). now, i really enjoy positive shows with a good message for viewers. watching haikyuu for the second time made me love the show. no need to make theories, worry about about characters. you just watch it, have fun, and take some advices from the show. i really loved the simplicity. i learned a few things for my own self-improvement by understanding some characters' mindsets. it's really good to lighten your mood up and relax while watching. (sorry if there are mistakes, English is not my first language)

I love the fact that they've been hyping daichi up for the last 3 episodes now as someone who is strong, dependable, and really knows his teammates. He was such a big part of the Jozenji match and now the Wakunan match ("a match between the captains"). They build it up so well and so subtly and then hit us with something like this at the end. Haikyuu storytelling is really top-tier

So sorry that happened. I had something similar happen. They failed at stealing my car but broke two windows and ruined my ignition switch in the process. Insurance refused to pay for the windows, and my deductible is high so it was cheaper to fix everything myself. Such a harsh experience.

That manga is a horror/supernatural genre 😊 I think this is the one you're talking about. (Yotsuya sensei's ghost stories) Takeru's sister is the MC. If I remembered correctly, although he is the eldest in haikyu, I think in the horror manga he was younger than his sister

This is a very serious arc that explores the themes of grief and guilt. Ngl, but things are going downhill from this. I mean not everyone can deal with death yk… and considering the fact than Tanaka literally killed Daichi he could easily get charged for that. I don’t wanna be too specific, but Tanaka’s path from a promising volleyball player to prison and gang activity is one of the best arcs in Haikyuu.

I really like how they always compare Daichi to Erwin. Carter saying Daichi is the backbone of the team is agreeable. "Who's Benkei?" WELL... You guys know Ushiwaka was the childhood nickname of a legendary Japanese warrior, and they call Ushijima from Shiratorizawa Ushiwaka as well. Similarly, Benkei was known as the right-hand man of Ushiwaka, the warrior. Bascially, Tsukki's brother (Akiteru) is making a reference to the two strong warriors, saying that regardless if it's Ushijima he's up against, or someone of similar caliber, he should play his hardest and try to beat them HAHA! But seriously, I'm loving the Daichi appreciation and love. I can't begin to describe how important he is to the team. And it's always so sad whenever people overlook him as a background character because his efforts are the backbone of the team and he doesn't get much spotlight because of that. MORE IMPORTANTLY!!! That was indeed a nasty cliffhanger. I remember feeling so devastated that Daichi was hurt. And this happened right after Coach Ukai said that this match was about the captains??? the fact that the nickaname is the first half of both of his names (Ushijima Wakatoshi) makes it even more badass lol, man is a literal volleyball warrior.

"Ushiwaka" is a nickname like someone mentioned, about the ancient warrior, but it also fits because the character's actual name is Wakatoshi Ushijima. So they take the Ushi and the Waka and put them together, and it just so happens to be the warriors name. That's also why, when he scores a point, the crowd cheers "Ushijima."

AoT, FMAB and other similar shows are some of my absolute faves, and Haikyuu is also in my top 5 anime. Anime transcends genre! The show is great because it’s got amazing characters and development, funny and wholesome downtime moments that contrast the most hype and motivational games. The writing is just fantastic. Give it a chance with an open mind!
