Usopp is one of those characters that always bring contrast to the elements of the show. Kinda like how strong people don't seem as strong until the "average" person is shown. Like how brave people don't seem as epic until the "cowards" have their moments. I'd almost say its a necessity to include characters like him so the cool moments are that much cooler, whether they're from Usopp himself or from other characters.

There’s a novelization of Lougetown where Oda did a character design of Daddy. But in this filler, they modeled him after Clint Eastwood from the Dollars Trilogy.

Omg I loooove Daddy TP because he’s definitely an early tease to what the shows perspective of true masculinity can be. Imo it’s empathy, loyalty, and courage. Honestly that perspective was one of the more surprising features of OP. ✨

Hey Jackson, if you’re still gonna make the geks watch episode 51 (which is filler) & 52 (is canon) as one video, and then episode 53 (canon) & 54 (again filler) as another video. Look up and research where the canon Calm Belt is explained in Episode 55 since that episode is part of a filler arc. Then look up where the canon part starts in episode 61, it should be when the bumper with the characters’ theme song plays. You should be good if you do that when you get to episode 62 with context. Theres no way you guys are gonna watch and react to that filler arc of Kid Dany Targaryen and her old grandpa dragon. I would be genuinely surprised if you do tho, it’s an alright filler arc imo.

Sure that’s fine. They can even skip the next episode, 51, which is Sanji’s filler episode, and episode 54, which is the start of a filler arc. I only care if Jackson shows them the canon scenes in Episode 55 & 61. If they jump into episode 62 after watching episode 53, ig they’ll be confuse? 🤷‍♂️

zoro was my fav for awhile until another character later on and luffy always was my 2nd or 3rd. But now after seeing the whole show, I slowly grew to like luffy slightly more than zoro. Sanji was always right behind them. Then with usopp, I’ve slowly grown to tolerate usopp but def not close to my fav. Not bad tho. I could see u guys kind of slowly tolerating his annoying personality over time maybe.

Its canon filler, meaning Oda originally wanted to include it but couldn’t due to time constraints so he gave the anime team his full blessing to bring it to life. Whether or not you feel like it adds to the story though, is totally up to the individual. I can understand your distaste for it but I feel like there is an argument that can be made for canon filler. At the end of the day, some Usopp character development isnt too bad.

i love zoro and have since the beginning, but with usopp, he had to grow on me, which wasn’t until later in the show. i enjoy both zoro and usopp but for different reasons. i think you guys will really enjoy seeing usopp’s development as a character!

At 22:18 when Smoker asked 'why would he attack you?' about Zoro, I think it was more like him asking 'Why tf was Zoro in a marine base attacking non pirates.' 28:50ish. I think swipe mightve been a mistranslation. Idk Japanese but I do know mistranslation/misinterpretation and censorship happens often for a lot of exported media from the East. Swipe could have been something with a more derogatory connotation. I could also be wrong 100% and he really just said swipe in Japanese and girls shouldn't say that for some reason 🤷‍♂️

You can binge or enjoy the journey it’s up to you there are a lot of characters you guys have to see that play big roles in the future but the show get you emotionally at times just building the bond between characters on screen throughout the years you start feeling attached to the characters after like 300 episodes 🙏but we all just waiting for you guys to react to the epic moments there are so many episodes just thinking about it glad you guys are skipping fillers honestly

I get that they’re enjoying One Piece more, and I respect it. But whenever One Piece does something they criticize Naruto for they say something like “it’s just One Piece” or “One Piece is just funny man” so I feel objectively criticizing it is a bit tough 🤣

I think the problem is that people call out early one piece and its "pacing", but rewatching OG Naruto and the start of shippuden with the Geks, the reality is that the pacing problems are there. Yeah, sometimes One piece gets a freebie, but as you said, they're liking it more so that's something that you can't get mad at. I loooove one piece and I like naruto too, and I really think that when the time comes, they'll enjoy Naruto as much as they're enjoying One piece.

Yeah I think it’s moreso the lack of substance in the first episodes, because by this point in Naruto we are already well into the chunin exams. The storytelling pacing in Naruto is amazing, but the anime adaptation just ruins it by replaying flashbacks and reshowing scenes for stalling purposes.

I’m just going to say it: I love Usopp. He is hilarious. But he is also so much more than just the comic relief character. He is smart and resourceful, caring, and honestly, the most normal of them all. People can say he’s cowardly, but it only seems that way because he’s surrounded by people who laugh in the face of danger, when in actuality his reactions to the situations and settings around him are very normal. He’s just your average Straight Man to Luffy and co who got thrown into the fray. He just feels real in this bizarre world and it’s grounding.

I think Oda made Ussop so to be this way. If he can be part of Luffy's crew than anybody even one of us could. He sets a standard that anybody can reach and that makes it relatable and normal.

When I started one piece, I never hated or even disliked Usopp. Every reaction he had to danger, I was thinking the same thing. He’s so relatable like why would we leave the safety of this boat?? Yes he’s a straw hat pirate but at the same time, he’s just a normal guy who wants adventure and he really is trying to help in ways he can. And when he can’t, the others pick up the slack. Granted I’ve only watched up to 240 or so eps but this is why one piece is so special. If every straw hat was the average battle crazy shonen mc, this story wouldn’t be as interesting at all. The straw hat dynamics are the best part of one piece to me.

What it really comes down to is one piece and Naruto’s tone is just so different which is one of my big problems with Naruto. One piece is also, just being real, much better from the start. They’ve also acknowledged a lot of the similar flaws from both already
