1:48:41 almost Jack… Nevill’s parents aren’t dead (though tbh I’m not sure how you’d know other than through the books). They get tortured enough that they eventually lose their minds, so they end up in St. Mungo’s in like a full time psych ward. There’s a chapter in book 5 where the gang go to visit someone in the hospital (iykyk) and run into Neville visiting his parents. It’s actually really sad 😞

Here are some things you might have missed out on: 1. Neville's parents aren't dead, they were tortured to insanity. Both of them are permanent residents of a wizarding hospital. 2. The reason Barty Crouch got real sus of Fake Moody was because he saw him do his tick: occasional licking of lips. Crouch saw that and immediately remembered that his son used to do that a lot. Fake Moody realized that, and that's why he killed Crouch. 3. The original plan in the books was to use Barty Crouch Junior as proof that Voldemort had returned to power. However, Cornelius Fudge shows up to meet him with a dementor, and the dementor sucks out Crouch Junior's soul. So now there is no proof whatsoever that Voldemort has returned, only Harry's word which his friends and Dumbledore believe, but no one else does. 4. At the end of the 4th book, Harry receives 1000 Galleons as prize money for winning the tournament, which he tries to give to Cedric's dad, but the dad refuses. Harry then decides to give it to Fred and George as seed money for their business venture. 5. The goblet of fire itself doesn't have an age restriction, the only rule it has is that it will only choose one person from a school. The reason it also spits out Harry's name is because Crouch Junior wrote a 4th school's name on it as well, making him the only student of that school and guaranteeing his name being chosen.

This one was my favorite book growing up. Can't lie, was a little disappointed in the movie at the time. Didnt feel long enough, they never do, to really go into detail about the Goblet and the games that are held. Also the beginning, with the portkey and going to the Quidditch World Cup, and the aftermath with the death eaters attack is much more fleshed out. Don't get me wrong though, its still one of my favorite moves of the series, just wanted more lol. Loved this book. Still do, but the movie left a lot of stuff out. Maybe the show will do a better job of it? It's gonna be so weird to not see the normal cast though. They said its apparently gonna be an entire season per book. But its HBO, so a whole season is like 6 one hour episodes. Still better than 2.5 hours for 1 book though.

"how do we sort out the liars?" is more of a dig on some death eaters who claimed to have been under the imperius curse (like lucius malfoy), because no one can really know if they're really voldy's supporters or if they were just cursed. the ministry is also not allowed to use the torture curse because it's a crime.

Percy Jackson is definitely not on par with Harry Potter even in the books for me but they messed up with the new tv show. That's why I think it will be a very bad idea to start making the Harry Potter tv show. Although it would cover a lot more of the story but you cannot replace these characters. Thinking about the trio or Snape or McGonagall with different actors is a terrible idea😵‍💫

My current ranking: 3 4 2 1 I'm excited for the new TV series, although I'm not prepared for all the sexuality and race swaps nonsense that it will probably have. I'm grateful these movies were made way before all the liberal weirdos took over. Then again, I've seen that JK will be heavily involved, so I guess it can go either way, hopefully she'll get it 'right'.

Neville's parents are not dead. They were tortured to insanity using the Cruciatus. They are in Saint Mungos Hospital for Magical ailments and injuries. Neville and his grandmother regularly visit them on holidays. They were very talented Aurors when Voldemort first gained power. Barty Crouch Jr. and two other Death Eaters captured and tortured them. I love these movies but they leave so much out, this one especially leaves a lot out such as how Barty Jr. escaped Azkaban. I have to say this is one of the best movies but also not at the same time. I think this was my favorite book because it was such a mystery and the explanation made sense but was insane. Rewatching the movie after rereading the books, this movie feels like the last season of GOT, rushed and lacking in context.

Just a bit of information about the unforgiveable courses: they are also forbidden for Ministry Workers. Doing the first war against Voldemort, Barty Crouch was the Head of Magical Law Inforcmant Department and allowed the Aurores to use them against the Death Eaters. And in regards tot hem being easy: in the Books Mood says the students could use them on him and nothing would happend. You need the power behind it (so a bad wizard wouldn’t be able to) and the intent. In the books a character says that you really have to mean it. You need to want to hurt or kill and than have the skill. Oh and also, Harry tells Dumbledore and the Minister about Malfoy and the other Death Eaters, they just don’t show it.

I like Brig being confused at the end because the more the movies advance more things starts not making sense. Maybe it is much to suggest, and I know Im being annoying here maybe 😆 but I'd say it anyway: all the answers are in the books. For instance the priori incantatem thing. What happened in the graveyard was something very rare even for Dumbledore, because it happened due to 2 wands that share the same core (Fawkes tail feather) dueling to death. That is (according to Dubledore's conjectures) the reason the wands connected and Voldemort's wand started to spit off the last spells it had performed: Cedric's murder, the house caretaker and Harry's parents. Why was Voldermort wand and not Harry's the one forced to spit out the last spells? Because Harry's courage beat the fear Voldemort started to feel when the wands connected, because (again) something unexpected happened when he tried to kill this - according to him - powerless, untalented boy.

I felt so bad for Hermoine in the scene at the ball. You can see other girls comforting each other while Hermoine doesn't really have close female friendships and is left alone. I can totally understand how she feels, imagine putting so much effort to look beautiful and have a blast night just for you best friend (who all this time thought that no one was going to ask you out) keeps being a downer, not saying even a one positive word :(

I used to like “Goblet of fire” movie and book least of all, but they were growing on me over the last couple of years! Maybe they was too dark for me in childhood and adolescence eras

This one is almost my least favorite. So many cringe scenes and dialogue, everyone in Hogwarts having brain fog and being extremely careless, the other schools being comprised of only men and women respectively, the needless Ron and Harry beef, the Quidditch World Cup being short and lame, Dumbledore as a whole in this one, etc etc. A lot of the cinematics are good but as a whole this movie has always been just so mid to me. The initial shock of Voldemort returning and Barty Crouch Jr. are the only redeeming parts for me, but even those are bad adaptations of what really happened in the book. My least favorite part is how the director for this one saw what Alfonso Cuaron did with PoA and intentionally decided to change everything up to add his own personal flare, instead of just trying to make a good movie. Also John Williams only did the score for the first 3 movies, this one was done by Patrick Doyle. The first time I saw this movie I loved it, but the slanderous rendition against the 3rd film (which is my fav) using this movie to do it makes me hate it. Btw Victor Krum is 18 in this film, so the whole him being a "physical being" joke is a little gross considering Hermione is 14.

It's easy to overlook that Ron is a hormonal teen going through puberty who feels like he is always just in the background. Not only because he is overshadowed by Harry in the friendgroup but he is also the youngest of 6th brothers and only gets hand me downs like the dress robes in this movie and the wand that broke in the second movie. Fun fact there was a new director for this movie and the main cast didnt cut their har before filming because they are told not to cut it over the summer and it is usually done by the studio for the movie and when they showed up to set after months of growing it out the director just said great went with it.

The Hogwart student body is the most fickle group of people in fiction. They love to switch from idolizing Harry to hating him for the stupidest reasons. All sneering at Harry thinking he cheated when just the day before they were all cheering as Fred and George openly tried to cheat in front of them lol

The reason why the tone changed at the third and onward is because it got new directors. The guy who did the third, only did that one, then a new guy came in to do the fourth and another guy came in to do the remaining 3.

It's more that he was 14 while Fred and George was 16. Bigger age difference to 17. Also it didn't work, only Harry's worked, so people were pissed that he didn't share how to do it. If you remember, Fred and George both had told everyone how they were going to do put their names in, and if it worked then everyone could take a stab at it.

Loved this reaction. This and Order are the two movies I rewatch the most when I am in a Potter mood. I can't wait for the next reaction where we meet the best student character, the best villain, my favorite fight, and my favorite bit of acting from Dan Rad (although there's a sequence in the sixth movie that rivals it.)

You can really see the change in Ron in this movie. Before he was fine with Harry buying things for him but now that he's becoming an adult he's ashamed of it and refuses to have Harry pay for anything. I never noticed that before until the rewatch. Last time I watched it I was kid and I missed a lot of these hints I even missed the jealousy when Hermione went with Viktor but now at almost 28 I see it all.

About the Wormtail thing, they never spell it out in the movies and most of this backstory is completely skipped, but the Marauder's Map was made by James, Sirius, Lupin and Peter, using the aliases Prongs(because James can turn into a deer), Padfoot(because Sirius can turn into a dog), Moony(because Lupin is a werewolf) and Wormtail(because Peter can turn into a rat). They never show Harry realizing this in the 3rd movie, but in the 4th movie they use Peter's nickname Wormtail to make it clear that they were the Marauders for those who didn't catch on through the clues in the 3rd movie. Because Lupin was a werewolf, he would be locked up in the shrieking shack every full moon, and the whomping willow was planted on the secret passage into the shrieking shack to prevent anyone from accidently stumbling upon Lupin in his werewolf form. The whomping willow in the books also has a knot at the base of the tree that immobilizes the tree temporarily when someone presses it. James, Sirius and Peter being his best friends found out about this, and in order to help Lupin taught themselves how to become animagi and turn into animals. Peter's rat was small enough to sneak to the base of the whomping willow to disable it, and James' deer and Sirius' dog together were strong enough to contain Lupin as a werewolf. Every fullmoon they would break out Lupin and the four of them would explore the area around Hogwarts and Hogsmaede. When it wasn't a full moon they would also regularly sneak around the castle to explore. Eventually they made the Marauder's Map with all the knowledge they had gained of Hogwarts with their nightly activities. It's also said in the books that no other group of students until then ever knew as many of Hogwarts' secrets as the Marauders did. A Marauders spin off book or tv series could honestly be so good, they are probably my favorite group of characters in the books.

Couldnt said it better myself. Harry's patronous being a Stag after his father is a lost too. Still can't believe we never got a marauder's book. So invested in those characters.Jame and Lilly love story would have killed me knowing where it ends.

As a Potter head, this is my least favorite. By far. The book is soooo good. The film lost most of what made it good in my opinion. Not a bad movie by itself, but compared to the book. No way. Having said that there are many things that stand out, like Ralph Fiennes’ performance.
