No when a gate turns into a red gate the level of the gate does increase because Red gates cannot be any rank lower than B, which is why they were so surprised that a C-Rank gate turned into a Red Gate, but you are right that it did not increase to an S rank gate. In the manhwa and the light novel it explained that it increased to a high B, low A rank gate

haha funny how this isn't a major fight scene, compared to future scenes this is child's play. Super exciting to see the next arc animated. Also I'm irked they didn't animate a few scenes where they detail Jinwoo becoming a dark, mortally bad character. There was an inner monologue to use the A-rank tank for the fight and some fighting to THEN get iron. He keeps trying to keep himself in check so hopefully we see more of that during fight scenes. of course I doubt we'll get a 1 to 1 to the source material.

In the manhwa jin woo actually gets way more pissed off when he couldn't summon the boss. Yelling at the corpse for not arising. And the girl didn't say that his mood turned sour, she mentioned in the manhwa how he seemed annoyed after saying something to the boss corpse. She literally mentions it to the others.

To answer some questions you have or might have: No, Jinwoo doesn't need mana to resurrect dead organisms back as shadow soldiers! He can also store them in his shadow, and summon them from his shadow without needing mana! The only thing he does need mana for is to regenerate them if they are destroyed during battle:) Ice Slayers are what hunters call the Ice Elves on occasion due to their cruel and brutal nature! Yes, Jinwoo stabbed Baruka with his right hand on the first strike he managed to make contact. It was using Knight Killer, the orange blade, so no poison unfortunately! Although, it might not have worked either way since Kasaka's Fang, his other dagger, is only a C-rank item. A high tier A-rank or low-tier S-rank boss like Baruka would probably have easily cancelled out the paralysis and drain effects of Kasaka's Fang. The red forcefield effect that Iron uses on Baruka is actually a taunting skill! He had it the moment he was resurrected as a shadow soldier iirc! When Jinwoo throws Knight Killer past Baruka and "summons" it back, it's actually him using his skill "Ruler's Hand", which he got after defeating Igris, and allows him to control objects without touching them! The proficiency of this skill is low rn cause he just got it not long ago, but he can use it on small objects like his dagger! Resurrecting the dead into shadow soldiers doesn't get rid of an organism's dead body btw! After Jinwoo resurrected the slain Ice Bears and left, Kim Chul found their remains in front of their lair, so it proves that! He probably just didn't want to touch Kim Chul's body haha!

Some details from the manhwa that were left out: When Kim Chul was crashing out and counting to 3, in the manhwa, Jinwoo actually arrives and says "4" before he smashes that guy's head into the ground HAHAHA It was really cool, so it's a shame it's not in here! ALSO, I don't know if it's the subtitles on the screen that are different, but the boss Ice Elf that Jinwoo fights is actually called Baruka, not Barca(this is what yall's screen displayed)! And yes, Jinwoo's decision to turn Kim Chul into a shadow soldier after killing him is one of the first glimpses we see of his darker side coming out. In his defense, Jinwoo did give Kim Chul a chance. If he hadn't attacked him with the intention of killing, Jinwoo wouldn't have done anything in return. But because he KNEW Kim Chul is a pos and would def do it, he didn't hesitate. Nonetheless, this is the continuation of Jinwoo's personality warping a little, which starting last season when he killed humans for the first time. At the end of the episode, he says "this is the third time", he's probably referring to this as the third time he's killed a human (first was Hwang Dongsuk's squad, second was Kang Taeshik the assassin). The difference is that this time, he wasn't doing it for survival. He stated before he killed Kim Chul that he needed more combat power to fight against Baruka cause he's too strong for him and Igris to tag-team him tgt. So he PLANNED to kill Kim Chul, tho he probably wouldn't have done that if Kim Chul wasn't a certified asshole.

the manhwa was a bit better with the summoning of the bear leader and Iron/Kim. In the anime it felt a bit rushed.. i think they are trying to get as much out as possible this season and thats why. Not much of a difference, but the scene with Kim feels a bit more personal in the manhwa which is nice. Its like a "sit down dog" scene xd But this whole episode had me creaming lmao. Especially the decapitation and Woo stopping Baek and Hwang Dong-Soo

I love this show and this was a great episode but I’d be lying if it didn’t feel sort of disappointing. The elf guy was super strong, it just seemed kinda weird how easily he was beaten. Also why was that Kim guy so much stronger when brought back ? I don’t remember that ever being explained. It was still a great episode and a lot of fun to watch but felt a little bit cheese. I’m sure this fight won’t stick with me for long though. Kinda just a step towards more. There’s also no way he can keep his level a secret for much longer. How many times can he come out of a gate as the hero, when other “stronger” people have died and his secret not be revealed?

It was sorta explained in the manwha. The "soldiers" that get brought back are stronger than they were when they were alive. Something about his job upgrade for surviving the whole time during that quest to "Monarch of Shadows" that does that. I'd have to go back and read it again to know exactly. Pretty sure none of this is spoilers.

the thing is it is not really a "secret" that he is a lot stronger than he was, people are already suspecting or they already know if you paid attention, I mean they literally showed it in this episode. the boss being defeated too easily I kinda get but he used his 2 strongest shadows (igris and Iron) plus three mages, plus himself with his op abilities so I also think you are being harsh there. Just enjoy the show and wait for it to pick up because it really will, the later arcs are so peak, just enjoy the ride for now.
