LETS GO!!! Just finished watching s3 reactions. sorry for all the comments on the last aot reaction lol. people got me heated and thinking

hena

barney u are the only constant in my life

Megan Kirby

That beginning with falco was done purposefully for the viewer. Since it changed up so much they wanted us to know it was the same show.

Lukeasbot

Good idea to put off the season 3 review. I'm sure most of us care more about seeing your season 4 reactions than your season 3 review.

Veloskiy

mane i love u guys 😂

KowalSky

Im not saying skip the review, but i would rather have the episode reactions first

bondbond53

My War best OP

Michelle Cao

IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT

Carter DeWitt

Love Brig, but he lowkey spoils things

Prime

Cannon is right, Ymir is stupid af and I don't know how people defend her actions 💀 She basically helped Marley out by giving them another titan shifter💀 Isnt your "best friend" Historia Eldian??? Shouldve fought for paradise SMH

Gu

That would have made her an ass, she felt bad for berthold

Lag Sold

Galliard is way better than ymir bc ymir didn’t have any experience

MissKing

They announced today that Part 3(part 1) will be a 1 hour special, not multiple episodes like the first 2 parts.. so now i definitely think yall should keep it in chronological order and not release part 3 ahead of time.

T heFearlessAbsol

I agree with Cannon, them coming to retake the founding mean’t that she would’ve died as a pure titan if they didn’t, but its their carelessness as “marleyan warriors” that got their friend eaten. Also as if they didn’t realize who that was at the end 😭

Prime

That's stupid reasoning. Why does she care more about bertholt than Historia when her whole character was built on Historia?? And what's worse is that she was willing to help Reiner and bertholt take Historia to marley knowing the shit marley would do to her 💀She would've been forced to breed to produce more royal bloods like zeke...

Keneizha Rubanarayana

I’m not a huge fan of Ymir, but I can understand the choice made by her character. She’s supposed to be someone selfless. She felt in debt to Reiner and bertholt since she got a second chance to live life because of them. She felt like she owed them and did it to protect them. I think it’ll make more sense after rewatching her arc after s4

keyton bush

Ymir knew the consequences of R&B failing their mission and losing two of the nine titans in the process. She also understood that the only reason she got to meet Historia in the first place was because she took the life of one of R&B’s friends. It wasn’t practical or prudential on her part, but she empathized with the situation R&B were in so she gave up her life in return. She talked a big game about not lying to herself, and as such presented a rude and selfish Ymir to the world, but in truth this was a lie. The true Ymir was the girl who selflessly said she had the King’s blood in order to save those who adored her.

YourGuy

so relatable that the episodes feel like they go by so quick

Jeremy

Ymir only reason for going back was for simply feeling bad for Reiner and bert if they went back empty handed they would of been eaten and given the powers to other eldians but I agree she should of stayed with historia since she’s the only person she truly cared for

Techno

Ymir made a comment about giving back the power she stole before she went off with Reiner and company. If they hadn’t come to paradise to destroy the walls and kill humanity, she never would’ve had the opportunity to become human again and meet Historia. Ymir had two things to think about and that was Historia’s future and hers. She might know of the curse of Ymir and that she only has a few years left anyway. She also knows that when Marley attacks again, if Reiner is still alive he will make every effort to protect Historia, which Ymir can’t do by herself.

Zekrom XI

Don’t watch the trailer to the new season. You guys should watch it blind.

Ash

Hyped for season 4! Hope y'all saw the after credit scenes for some of these episodes. Also Ymir believed there was no way for the people on the island to win the war so she sided with Reiner and crew. It still doesn't make sense though because she knew they would take the titan power back.

keyton bush

That’s the interesting thing about her, that her whole personality is a facade. She seems terrible and obnoxious because she’s trying to be. She wants to distance herself from her painful past by being “brutally honest” because even when she lied it didn’t save her subjects. It was all self delusion though. She was a kind person, and in the end she proved it.

mikkelias

Do you all exept brig live together?

nomorepartiezz

this is why when you guys were watching season 2 i was saying that even after understanding the context and backstory, Ymir’s decisionmaking and indecisiveness still made her an annoying character. i think the rationale is that she realized that she took something that didnt belong to her and decided to give it back, she wasnt really supposed to be alive or a part of this world. she was basically a random NPC titan that accidentally became involved in the main story because she happened to eat Marcel. she leaves Krista behind because Eren reveals himself to have the coordinate (founding titan) and thinks she’s probably safer on Paradis after all. she realizes she owes her life to reiner and bertholt’s friend and last second decides to be a good person and pay that back to them.

Melizé

"They don't have a Levi" LOL that made me laugh so much. So hyped for S4 LET'S GOOOO!!

Devzy 793

The thing is with Ymir is you could argue she's either a very nuanced character or a very illogical one. She probably knew about the history of Marley; how there was no hope of her and Historia being together with the curse of Ymir and didn't want to break Historia's heart with the truth; and how she stole the power of the Jaw Titan from Reiner's friend. Stealing the power allowed her to be human again and meet Historia but there's alot of regret and guilt from stealing that opportunity from another person. So in the end she wanted to return what was stolen as a thank you for Reiner and Bertholdt for giving her that opportunity to feel human one last time

Katrina Vieira

the thing with Ymir is she felt bad for Reiner and Bertholdt. She knew they'd go back empty-handed, so she sacrificed herself and told them the least she could do was return the power she stole from them. Yes, she wanted to be with Historia, but she knew how terrible Marley was and what they would've done to Reiner and Bert. Tbh I do think she's a little dumb for that since she was always about doing things for herself and no one else, but who knows? Maybe the final thing she wanted to do in her life was something selfless. It's not like she was on the Scout's side or Marley's side to begin with. After she ate Marcel and got the titan power, she realized she was finally free from both sides. So idk. I've said this before but Ymir is a very complicated character and a lot of her actions contradict her words. Maybe she decided to leave the walls because Marley might've come back for Ymir along with Eren if she stayed, and that would've put Historia in more danger. She decided to remove herself from the situation entirely. EDIT: someone said that she felt she was given a second chance at life, but at the cost of eating Reiner and Bert's friend. She felt guilty, like she wasn't meant to be a part of this story. So, as thanks, she sacrificed herself to Marley. Another person said that her annoying nature, bluntness, and selfishness was all an act. I think it's half-true. She knew she was given a second chance at life and wanted to live it only for herself, so she allowed herself to act that way. But at the end of the day, her true kindness was shown through her sacrifice.

at the end of the day they’re still running a business. releasing their reaction at the right time will get a lot of engagement for them and probably attract a ton of new viewers. plus they would finally get to be caught up and enjoy the hype of seeing new AOT for the first time with their friends and all of their viewers. its not like they’d be faking or doing things out of order, it’s just a matter of the upload’s having to catch up. and its not like it negatively effects the viewers either. everyone is perfectly capable of understanding the situation and deciding to watch their part 3 video whenever they get to it.

Elle

Mappa's animation is incredible imo. And the characters look more accurate to the manga. The style suits the mood of this season WAYY better, like I can't even imagine Wit doing season 4. People were mostly just upset that Mikasa and Levi look more like an actual people now lol

also as others have said: Ymir is from Marley. She knows how terrible life is for Eldians back on the main continent, how they’re all abused and oppressed in internment zones. She most likely is aware of whats at stake for Reiner and Bertholt and what will happen to them and their families if they went back empty handed after losing Annie and failing their mission. this is all coming from someone who found ymir annoying too, her character is good, its just presented in a super frustrating and confused way where it doesnt make sense unless you put in the work to go back and rewatch it and piece things together with new context

Amir Ali

Why Ymir let her self die: TLDR - She is the most selfless character in the series. She was a homeless kid who was then picked up to be used as a vessel to be worshipped. She didn't even have a name. When Marley cracked down on them, she could have told the truth (which wouldn't really change anything though) and say that she's not royal but she looked at the panicked people & decided to sacrifice her self by claiming that she is royal. She was then turned into a titan as punishment only to wake up and eat Reiner's friend and getting the Jaw titan. She started living a lowkey life not trusting anyone (rightfully so) but then overheard the priests talk about Historia and how they will give her a new name and basically don't want her. Ymir related to that and sought out Historia and stuck by her and developed feelings for her. Jumping to S2 finale, Ymir just gives up the love of her life and also her own life which at that time seems such a dumb thing to do. But knowing what we know now of how Eldians are treated outside of the walls and know how awful Marley treats them. She sees why such a confused guy like Reiner and a depressed guy like Bertholodo would choose to do this. She knows it's ultimately not their choice and she empathises with them. She wasn't giving her life to help anyone other than Reiner & Bert. We have seen heros give their lives for their family/nation/belief. These are all, no matter how nobal, acts that are done to give a peace of mind to the hero. However Ymir is one of the few characters in media that gives her life for her "enemies", because she understands where they are coming from.

i think theres fair criticisms of Mappa. For me its mostly that the cgi beast titan looks terrible. I honestly think the other CGI titans look great when used properly which is mostly in P2. but the beast titan never looks right unless its 2D. i think its the fur. and my other complaint is that Levi’s fight scene having average animation is a little disappointing when he used to always get god tier animation. overall im a huge mappa defender though. P1 is a little rough around the edges but I think S4P2 is incredible and based off the trailer that dropped today, P3 looks to be the highest quality the show has had since Season 2

Teresa

I think it’s a good thing he explained what he did tho. So they actually understand what they’re watching and can enjoy rather than being confused the whole time.

Amir Ali

She was taking Historia to Marley because she knew a war was coming that Paradis was not prepared for nor aware. She only changed her mind when she, along with all the other titans, got zapped and felt Eren use the Founding titan abilities. In that moment she knows about the titans in the wall and everything so she decided that Historia still has a better chance of life in Paradis. Ymir didn't choose Reiner & Bert over Historia but rather chose those guys over her own life. She empathises with them and always has been selfless. She knows she's going to die in a few years leaving behind a heart broken Historia. So Ymir gave her self up not to help Marley but just to help they guys because she has seen the treatment of eldians in Marley.

ssj4rit

Nah, in S2 she literally says (or rather, thinks) there's a future in the walls once Eren reveals the Coordinate power. She joined Reiner and Bert out of sympathy for their plight (we see after Bertholdt pleads for someone to see/understand them, Ymir is impacted by his words). One could argue that to protect Historia it would've been better to stay in Paradis, but then again, it's basically a logic vs emotion debate.

Gaby Rangel

“I feel like i’ve seen a comment about a Gaby. Nothing specific just a name” well im hereeee ✨🤭

CherryTart

The show explains it eventually though, that’s part of what makes the show so good is that you’ll have so many questions and they answer them…

Amir Ali

There are 2 possibilities: Possibility 1) They upload chronologically and the Patrons who want to watch their reaction in the same time now won't be able to because they haven't uploaded it. Possibility 2) They do upload the new part and the people who want to watch it chronologically can opt to not watch it and the people who want to watch it can do so. How is this such a big deal.

Gianluca Angeli

The animation of titans and ODM gear is an objective downgrade but i like the new art style of the characters plus i think it fits since there is a timeskip.

nans

the song playing in the background of the battle (Ashes on the Fire) is absolutely goated bgm!! y’all remember when the season 4 trailer dropped with it playing??? CHILLS

ssj4rit

Agreed. I think it does make sense overall (we see how much it impacts her when Bertholdt pleads with the scouts at the end of S2), but that was like one line 20+ episodes ago with no context about the outside world lol

nans

yeah he was literally trained for it so his Jaw is way more OP. Makes sense why all the candidates go through such intense training so they don’t end up like ymirs Jaw lol

CherryTart

The closing song for this part is my absolute favorite, I’m excited for them to watch and react to it

studiogek

I am sorry but I will VEHEMENTLY disagree😂😂😂😂😂 at least up through 4x17 I do not like her😂😂😂😂

studiogek

I chose to wear black also but then have a light jacket for the contrast😏

studiogek

Hopefully not screw it, it’s almost 2.5 hours long😭😭 we spent so much time on it hahaha

Lag Sold

Jeez if you don’t upload it here you can at least upload it to YouTube

Amir Ali

It was both - She felt in debt to Reiner & Bert and also put up a facade of being mean. She says she wants to live for herself but that's just not her. She has always been selfless. To the point she doesn't even have a name of her own. She tried sacrificing herself before for the people who were praying. She told Historia to use her real name and live for herself. She told Sasha to speak in her real accent and not care what people think. These were the things that she basically wanted someone to do for her / tell her. She says she wants to live for herself same way I say I'll start eating healthy... I'm trying but it's just not me.

Elle

Agreed yeah. I'm not a hugge fan of the cgi titans in Pt1 but it's still good and the animation team was working so hard to meet deadlines and expectations. I personally do prefer a lot of the 2D animation, so I get the criticism, but it was so annoying how some people were so dramatic about Mappa's work. Very excited to see how Pt3 looks

Shiro

I think Ymir's choice needs to be contextualized here - Firstly, the warriors lost the Jaw titan to Ymir, and towards the end of season 2 episode 12, they were in no position to get the Coordinate either, thanks to Eren unlocking the power of the coordinate. I think one can assume that the punishment for the warriors would have been to get eaten themselves and hand over their own titans to the other warrior candidates for sure (Zeke even threatens Reiner and Bert in episode 15 of season 3). 'Capturing' Ymir would mean that at least they managed to recover the power of the Jaw titan from the enemy, so that Paradis cannot use it! The other part of the equation has to do with honor - Ymir, in spite of being a selfish person, felt grateful to Reiner and co. as it was because of them that she got a second chance at life and hence met Historia. She feels she needs to repay that gratitude such that at least their lives are saved and they are not eaten for their failures. As it is, we know that the lives of the Nine are only for 13 years, she made a difficult, albeit personal choice to save the warriors over her own selfish desires rather than spend the remaining years with Historia (also Eren controlling the coordinate reassured her that there was still hope in Paradis Island). Also, in answer to Cannon's question as well, maybe the punishment for failure is not limited to the warriors alone, but also extends to their families (i.e., turning them into pure titans on Paradis). Hence, perhaps the reason why the Eldian population is compliant with Marley, and why the warriors cannot fail (maybe their families are also punished). Knowing these facts, Ymir made her choice. I hope this helps to understand her decision, whether good or bad is subjective.

Every day you go on hating her she gives another one of your faves the blicky 😈😈

I don’t think it’s a big deal. But they asked for people’s opinions so I was just giving mine is all

studiogek

I really appreciate your input Zahria! I just totally agree with nomirepartiezz. It’s just so exciting for us to be part of such a huge event in the anime community, and it will only replace 1 day of the normal upload schedule. But trust me when we first talked about this as a group I was more on your side for sure. But ultimately it was a group decision

hman70

Real talk though, I get the hate, the story sets her up at odds with the main cast. But I hope with time you’ll get to a place where you don’t hate her and understand you probably hate a bunch of things surrounding her character rather than her herself. She’s just season 1 Eren only now we the audience know that the Titans are just people, we know Eren’s hate in season 1 was misplaced and not constructive, but try telling him that right after his home town was destroyed?

MissKing

Completely understand! I’m gonna keep watching your videos regardless lol

2024-01-09 00:43:15 I think after Ymir saw Eren use his ability to control titans, she realized that his power was a massive advantage for the scout's side and so at that moment, she made the decision to leave Historia behind because she thought she'd be much better off with them instead of her. She even said, "So that's why Reiner was so desperate for Eren. Which means, even inside the walls there's a future" and by future she meant Historia's future. I highly doubt the scouts would welcome her back or trust her after everything that had happened. They would've been extremely suspicious of her since she withheld information from them and kept switching allegiances. She understands and strongly sympathizes with Reiner & Bert's situation and feels beholden to them because if they hadn't come to break down Wall Maria, she still would've been a mindless titan forever. She didn't go back with them to help Marley; she did it to return the titan power that she believes she stole from them. Sorry if what I'm saying doesn't make sense since it's hard to articulate my thoughts through text, but what I'm trying to say is that there's always more to a character's actions and decisions than what's on the surface. Her decision wasn't wrong or right imo; it just made her a tragic character but to each their own. Can't wait for y'alls reaction to season 4!

I highly doubt the scouts would welcome her back or trust her after everything that had happened. They would've been extremely suspicious of her since she withheld information from them and kept switching allegiances. Sorry if what I'm saying doesn't make sense since it's hard to articulate my thoughts through text, but what I'm trying to say is that there's always more to a character's actions and decisions than what's on the surface. Yeah some viewers can't control themselves and once they watch the part 3 they won't want to watch the prior reactions because they're part 3 cells are more informed so it won't feel natural

Centric

after ep 20 they need to watch ending 2 please

YaBoyKamui

Theres actually nothing wrong with them watching the intro because theres no spoiler without context

Reckless

im so glad you guys immediately uploaded season 4, im so hyped for yall (although yall probably already finished by now xD)

I like it when they are confused and are trying to figure out what's happening haha. But to be fair they were very minor things, so it's not like it's a big deal

AOT fans started getting toxic around when season 2 dropped but that was more ex-AOT fans that were trying to slander it or started spoiling stuff from the manga to anime only people all cause it took so long of a break. So they turned on the series hoping it would flop. Then of course you still got the loyal AOT fans that defended it, which leads to fights. AOT fans are the worst when it comes to fans fighting within the fandom, especially the shippers side of things. But it was still pretty tamed back in those days in comparison to how it is now, it only started escalating around Season 3 part 2 all because AOT started getting popular once again ( I mean it was still popular but the number of people starting to become fans of AOT was rising pretty quickly ) and it was getting high ratings on a few review sites. Other fandoms were not happy that AOT was threatening the top spots and getting so much attention again, so they started doing things like review bombing 1s on episodes and leaving reviews like ‘a cartoon doesn’t deserve to be rated that high’. Keep in mind, this all started around the time Hero dropped and that episode went viral and so many people loved it. So those bad reviews pretty much caused the AOT fans to snap, they got so into defending the series that they didn’t even realise they were fighting multiple fandoms at once and even each other lmao. They held their ground though, even against so many different fandoms on multiple review sites. Now though the fandom is so ridiculously big that it’s kinda impossible for it to have no toxic fans. That’s why it’s best just to ignore what some of the fans get up, otherwise you’ll just end up getting a headache

Miranda

Our boy Reiner is back!

Jacob Gronas

One thing that Wit did was take years and years to animate single seasons of Attack on Titan. Mappa has this one season but they still kept a high quality despite their lack of time that Wit had

Synad

"Why do they make us root for the bad guys?" Oh boy, season 4 is where the emotional rollercoaster goes up to 11

Derrick

I’m so impressed with how quickly Carter picks up on key plot points

Gael

Brigg's "HAHA"'s killed me 😂😂

Antares

bro y'all's outfits makes me think of the meme where its a bunch of guys surrounding one girl on a couch.

Ceecee

Please upload all the s4 part 1 and 2 vids soon

Ceecee

Mappa followed the illustrations on manga. And it was a good thing that they were the ones animated the s4 since that part is dark and depressing which Wit can't do.

Gael

I’m loving the Reiner love! Fun fact: Isayama‘s fav characters switches between Reiner and Jean, but especially Reiner post-Marley (though in Nov 2022 he said his fav went back to Jean). S4 really made me love Reiner. He’s in my top 3 :)

ZYGGY

They're saving the intros for a video where they watch them all at once and rank them.

Sean Fuller

About the animation. I think it works well with how different the show is. It’s more gritty and the animation matches that. It helps it feel like we are in a different era

kiiturii

ymir went with bert and Reiner because she knew she "stole" the titan power from their friend, she was paying back what she did. Yeah it sounds kinda silly to willingly die, but she was grateful for the years she got and probably would've found it hard to live on with the guilt. Especially since if Reiner and Bertholt returned empty handed they might've been killed too..

DirtyRebel

Do not let the action distract you and take a step back and think about how the writer wants you to know how Eldian’s were treated throughout the episode. They were in the front lines , equipped with explosives to run and the enemy, used as literal bombs from the sky while having young Eldians watch from the trenches as they are being told they are devil’s. One of you said why do they tolerate being treated like that. Feed people the propaganda that they are trash and aren’t worth anything and I’m sure you guys can understand why.

Nick

It took me a while to figure out Ymir's intentions, but it actually makes a lot of sense if you go back and re-watch the episodes with the knowledge you have now. At the end of season 2, she realizes now that Eren has the Founder and might be able to defend the island ("so there is hope for this world") so Historia will be safe within the walls, but she also realizes that the Colossal and Armored would not let everyone else escape (remember they were not close to a safe area they were way into Titan territory). They would have kept on coming, because if they went home empty handed, they would have died (which Ymir knows because she's from Marley). So she sacrificed herself to give them something so they would stop chasing after Eren and Historia and they could make it away safely.

Ivan Hundric

"Paradise" ultimately comes from an Iranian word that the Greeks modified into "paradeisos," meaning "enclosed park."

Julia Perez

Everyone’s talked about Ymir a lot already, but I just wanted to say a couple more things on that. First, her character is one you have to rewatch to really get I think, since everything you learn about her doesn’t make any sense before Season 4, and even after you watch Season 4, you remember the things she did, but not all the subtleties of her dialogue that give you a clue into what she’s thinking and feeling. As for why she decided that, I think one thing people haven’t mentioned is that - from her perspective - she was quite literally resurrected. So she sees her life as a Titan as a borrowed life, and a second chance to do things differently. And then she does live her life differently. Rather than the first half of her life, which she spends giving into people’s wishes and abandoning herself, she lives however she wants after that, allowing herself to exist and take up space, and acting as her own ally. But just bc she’s living differently doesn’t mean that her perspective on that second phase of life changes: she still sees it as extra, something special she was given, as opposed to something that’s hers. So I think her thought process is more along the lines of “Historia’s safe, these people and their families are going to die without me, I’ve lived a good life and that’s bc of them, so I might as well help them live and return what I borrowed.” But yeah it’s complicated. If you ever get a chance to rewatch after you guys are caught up, I might give her a second chance then, but if you still don’t like her that’s obviously fine. She’s not my favorite character by any means, but she definitely made sense to me after rewatching, and I think she’s well-written (like every character in this show lol)

Jeffrey

Right?! Remember when Cannon slammed the ottoman and shows his frustration because the duck titan saves Zeke and then later Reiner. He legitimately wanted them to die. Look at him now. He's rooting for Reiner and Zeke, especially Reiner. To be fair, he does look cool.

Myrtenaster18

I think Ymir deep down was a truly good person and saw her returning what she had stolen as a good payback for being released from those 60 years of being a pure titan and also to protect reiner/berthold

NsideKorea

Gabi does have one of the best developments in this show though, so I feel like anyone who has seen her entire arc who hates her is hating just to be spiteful. I guarantee if the story was told with equal depth from Marley's perspective, the watchers would've hated the people of Paradis instead of Gabi

Jeffrey

The animation style grew on up me and you're right, it's like a different kind of show now. Everyone from Paradis know the truth and are no longer living in ignorance, the Scouts have grown more experienced, mature, and their goals have completely changed, and then we're getting to see the world from Eldians' perspective living in Marley, and so on. I think the only thing about the animation that was jarring to me when I first watched was the 3D rendered titans. I much prefer the 2D hand drawn titans, but it makes sense why they went that route. Now as I watch, I don't mind it as much as we know what Mappa is capable if given enough time.

rosa_gris

Jean would prob be happy to be mistaken for an Ackerman ngl

rosa_gris

Speaking of Ymir, did they ever watch OVA 1: Ilse’s Notebook? I might’ve missed an announcement saying they were/weren’t. But I guess at this point in this story, it doesn’t really matter anymore.

Chris R

Is the phrase feral like a state thing for u guys or is just something you’re family just says

Ahmed Alnajar

Long story short, Reiner and Bertold didn't follow Eren and the Scouts BECAUSE Yemir went back with them (They got her titan back). and she saved their lives because they indirectly saved her life from being tortured as a pure titan.

Cameron Justus

OMG I get the joke with the all black clothes and one not LMAO

btw (another soundtrack comment) but the reason birds are such a big theme in AOT is bc they generally represent freedom, as they can go anywhere they please, most notably they are not bound by walls which is another theme. As further evidence of the bird theme, one of the most iconic tracks is called Vogel im kafig (which in German means bird in a cage), i forget what episode but I believe in season 2 Eren refers to humanity in the walls as birds in a cage

Desiree Retterath

I watched the dub and Gabi was horrendous there (very loud) but she is so much more palatable with the Japanese voice actor

Nick K

I would say this is the best read of Ymir's actions. They talked about "living for yourself, not for others" but ultimately she still wanted nothing more than to save the girl she loved. Before she was "sent to paradise" and before she was "chosen" as Ymir, she was living in squalor as an orphan in the Eldian internment camp, in a country that hated Eldians, in a world of people who hate and fear Eldians. Within the walls those, Historia was not Eldian but just a human, and with Eren having the coordinate that meant Historia had a chance to live a life safe from the deep hate of the rest of the world. She felt that she could convince Reiner and Berthtold to end the fight that was ensuing that day, and then ultimately she felt pity for Reiner and Bertholt because she knew WHY they were doing what they were doing as well. The things we the viewer come to understand in season 4 she was already painfully aware of, and I think that makes her thoughts more relatable as well. Ymir just liked to act like a shitty person but she actually was pretty nice. She was just over compensating because of the person she once was who would say or do anything others wanted.

e r

thank you man!!! i really hope they read some of these comments. ymir is my favorite character, her story is incredibly well written and it hurts when people dont like her only because they dont really understand

e r

Ymir knew if she didn’t go back with Reiner, they would not stop. Historia would not be safe. She knew when she saw Eren controlling the Pure Titans that he had The Founder, and that if she left with Reiner, they’d draw back, and Historia would be extra safe. She died selflessly because she was ashamed of being selfish her whole life. Also, please rewatch Ymir’s Letter in Dub. It is way more emotional!

Fatema alrowaiei

Ymir knew paradis had the founding titans so technically there is a future for them as she said…Historia will be safe… she went to reiner and bertolt cuz she knew the consequences of losing the power of the titans she understood what will happen to reiner..just like she said” i will give back what i borrowed from you” .. She was selfless i dont think she did that to help marley but mostly to save reiner and bert ❤️

T. Law

He's so cute and he knows it 🥺❤️.

Toff

T. Law

T. Law

Thank you Brig for defending Zeke!!!

T. Law

The last thing about Ymir and why she didn't stay is as I said before you'll understand it more in this season, second part, and since I don't know if you watched that episode yet so explaining if might be a spoiler. But if you understood it by watching ep 3 of this part then that would be cool.

Jag_227

Ymir went back with Reiner and Bert because if she didn't, they would have been fed to other Warriors upon returning to Marley. Reiner and Bert fucked up their mission so badly up to that point. With Ymir, they can return to Marley like, "Yeah, we screwed up terribly, but look we got the Jaw Titan back." Ymir gave her life for them to live. There's a lot of complexity to her character.

Mel

Ymir said to Reiner and Bertholdt that they saved her from the nightmare of being a Pure Titan (bc they came to the walls and she ate Marcel) and she basically said she owes them for that which is why she agreed to be their consolation prize. Otherwise, Reiner and Bertholdt would have been killed in Marley for failing their mission.

McLovin

This ^^^ was said by Ymir herself in the last season

Jag_227

Right. And Cannon said "Why wouldn't she just stay with Historia and live with the person she loves for the rest of her life." That was the whole conflict present during that arc in S2. Ymir, in her past, sacrificed her own life so that all those people that manipulated her could get off the hook. She wanted to be a "hero" for them, to please them. Her life was ruined because of that choice. And she sees herself in Historia. Making choices to be a hero and to please other people. So, she wants to "live for herself" Which, like Cannon said, should mean she chooses to stay with Historia. But, Ymir is really a softie, and understanding the position Reiner and Bert are in, she chooses to return with them to Marley. Sacrificing herself once again. No longer because she was a naïve child, but because she is a good-hearted person.

waughrus

Why no watching the intro? It doesn't really give anything away.

Owen

paradis:(pahr-uh-dee) (like you're saying it with a french accent) its sometimes called paradise as slang because its where the eldians are sent for punishment (so its meant in a demeaning way). In japanese, 'rakuen', one of the translations of that is literally 'paradise'

Bladee

Been waiting to watch yesterdays uploads till I could spark and we obliviated rn 😤

L.Lindberg

Their rifles, pike bombs and trench warfare, along with their artillery are all reminiscent of WWI. Even the shape of the MARLEYAN/ELDIAN helmets echo this era, with the ELDIAN helmet resemling the Brodie helmet/British Mark I.

Wulfheart

I'm late to this party so I'm sure someone answered this but the reason Ymir went with them is because she knows how cruel the Marlyeans are and that if they returned empty handed while also having lost 2 titans it wouldn't be good for them. She had empathy for them and guilt for having eaten their friend so she decided that the life she lived as a Titan shifter was more than she deserved and wanted to give back. Her whole story is about wanting to please others and trying to break out of that.

Lukash

maybe, just maybe guys that seen the show already should stop talking so much (especially during the scenes), and maybe dont give hints to things that should/could be discovered later

Lukash

I dont mean it in a toxic way, I do enjoy all of you and I understand the hype an urge to explain things but still I believe its best experience for hem to figure out things on their own and for my experience to see their reaction when they do it

Rena Unnie

What a journey! very glad i discovered your channel, guys!

ssj4rit

They've already caught up so it's a bit late, but yeah. I understand the urge to clarify questions as they come because we've seen the show or read the manga already, but these questions or confusions are intentional and the series usually explains them later. We survived with those same questions when we first watched lol, there's no need to get jumpy and think you need to 'correct' a newbie's thought process. But that's just me and I don't wanna be a weirdo who tunes into a reaction and then demands how one reacts. I just enjoy watching them.

I know this was filmed before we told brig not to answer their questions but the fact that he told them the Jaw was Ymir's titan before they showed the scene from Episode 2 that mentioned that kills me 😭

OG Phat1

Been thinking about what falco said at the beginning of this episode so much while waiting for the next part

Ayn Orbuda

btw 30:08 is Jean :)

Mohammed

i think the reason ymir went with them is because they promised her to let historia stay alive. i still think its not enough

Season 4 is just presents the real world to us and in the real world any discussion regarding moral is toxic so don’t expect it to be not🫡

lydia

Brig is just simply impatient, love him tho just hope he could lay back a bit and let the show explains itself

lydia

This is the world where being selfless and empathetic being called dumb/stupid ☺️

lydia

No, read the older comments, a lot explained it every well. It’s a make sense decision

lydia

I knew they are going to hate Gabi when they say they hate Ymir. They are just not those people who can read deep into character’s background and sympathize them. It fine though ^^

12:59 The difference is that I'm prepared.. "She's a boy scout!" I caught that too, my boy haha always Be Prepared

Sohrob Ibrahimi

why don't you let them look at the intros?

CherryTart

I appreciate Brigg trying to help them figure stuff out but I feel like it is kind of spoiling, the show goes to great lengths to explain things even if you’re confused at first. Part of what makes the show so great imo is how well they’re able to confuse you then give you enough information to go “aha!” and connect the dots. brigg explaining things sometimes almost takes the mystery away from certain scenes and theories, and it can get frustrating to someone watching their reactions. I think answering questions about stuff they’re already seen and might be confused about is the best thing to do as someone who’s already seen AoT

Joshua Stephenson

I’m with Cherry. Brigg…love you bro but stop lol. Also don’t

Joshua Stephenson

understand why y’all aren’t letting them watch the intro. Y’all had to of watched it when you first saw it. Just let them have the normal experience.

The amount of backseating here is crazy. Yall tell them everything before its revealed or properly explained

Sohrob Ibrahimi

are there really any spoilers though, like we saw the same ones when watching for the first time (besides the season 4 part 2 intro, that legit has a lot of spoilers lol)

BoredVoid

Just so you know about Falco talking about swinging on a sword, it's just a fourth-wall break joke. That the setting for this season is a complete 180 from where the entire show has been this whole time.

zed.x1

Seriously, you guys need to stop answering questions and let them think on their ones. The backseating is getting really frustrating to watch.

Abdurahman Shiine

Guys please stop telling them things, this part is meant to be confusing on purpose and they are meant to discover themselves, please don’t ruin it for them

I have not heard anyone mention this, but this war between Marley and the Mid-East Alliance can be used as a stark contrast between the war in Shiganshina. In this episode, we see that the world has gone to great lengths to develop anti-titan weapons, and Marley’s titans are barely able to snatch victory. On the other hand, we have Paradis which is 100 years behind time, and yet through a sheer display of human brilliance, courage and ingenuity, they are able to defeat 3/4 of Marley’s titans. It also puts into perspective how much of a game changer Ymir’s jaw titan was. If she hadn’t chosen to withdraw and the jaw was on Marley’s side, Paradis would’ve lost. If the Jaw was on Paradis’ side, hopefully Erwin or Armin or both would’ve survived!!

everytime the guy on the right says something i panic

Doodlez

I dont think so. Cause everything is connected threw the paths he might have some memorys of the future like eren but not as in like eren but just one or two shots. For me this sentences confirmed that Falco in the future will become one of the titans who knows odm gear. So Eren and Armin are not it(obviously). So he must become the Armoured or the jawtitan. I was pretty sure he become the armoured but with aot you never know.

Doodlez

In season 3 eps 21 you can see in the flashback of historia that ymir is in a same position as eren was underground. So if you can do math 1+1 its obvious that ymir is 100% dead and someone ofcourse will get her power. If you just go after looks your 100% correct you really cant know its the jaw titan but after 5s of him momving around it should be pretty obvious.

BoredVoid

Well thing about that is that only the Founding Titan works with memories like that. Others don't interact with memories at all pre-inheritance. The other is that Falco didn't say this in the manga, where there wasn't a year's plus gap between for production. It can definitely be argued to have canon validity, but it would be a retcon then.

rayman

"Honorary Marleyans"??? Why the hell does Cannon already know what that is before they even STARTED Episode 1? I'm shook, they should barely even know what's happening in Marley let alone the rward to the families for being a Warrior.

rayman

You can theorize it's Ymir's titan, and I inferred that when I first watched 4x1. But they didn't pick up on that, and the scene of Ymir about to be eaten went by really quick and is one of those things that you might not notice/think about until AFTER it's revealed. Which means Brig still shouldn't have said anything because the show literally reveals it as fact the NEXT episode. Revealing stuff right before the show does itself is such an annoying thing to do.

Jay_chu

That was mentioned in S3 E20 when Grisha made Zeke become a candidate

locomojoboy

Yeah he loves to run his mouth just like when he told them what they can expect with the first 5 episodes of S4. He literally cannot help himself.

SYD

I always start geeking when Jean shows up reading that newspaper at the end

Kazuma Satou

Ymir doesn't know this at that point, but Reiner and Berthold don't leave the island after that and instead the fight in Shiganshina happens. Where is Ymir at that point? It's not like she decides to go with them, they drop her off in their homeland and then Bert and Reiner come back to Shiganshina. Also, how is bringing her back with them a reason not to punish Berthold and Reiner for a failed mission? She got the power from the 3rd boy that was sent with them on the mission. It's not like they recovered the Jaw Titan from Paradis Island - they would have come back with the 3 titans they started with. I'm sure I'm missing something here, but imo this does not justify Ymirs decision at all.

Caleb

i dont think its fair to say wit cant do it since they never got a chance.. also the way they animated Mikasa kind of pissed me off tbh, they made her so overly masculine just because shes "powerful".

Caleb

ngl it kind of frustrates me that the boys have never seen an intro.. there has never been a single "spoiler" in any of the intros as long as you guys just dont answer their questions. just seems like they are missing a part of the show that we all experienced

Maximum Homerdrive

so Ik that this comment is a tad old and that they've now reacted to the intros....but certain intros definitely spoil things. like Bertholdt and Reiner being titan shifters; it's alluded to when you see them with Annie in the intro. the episodes between Annie's reveal and their reveal kinda make it obvious to sus out

Kpop Tart

You can read deep into a character’s background and sympathise with them at the same time as hating them. It’s not impossible. All of you people commenting stuff like this sound so uppity

Blue John

Almost a year later, here i am in the same boat. I'm like oh dear oh god what's he gonna tell em now aaaah lmao

Blue John

I mean i hated gabi too early on. It's more of a heat of the moment, emotional response type thing. Later on after I've stewed a bit, I grew to understand, maybe even like her honestly.

aadimy

crazy how they just told them ymir is dead and they took her titan wtf😭😭😭😭

JeanJean

Some intros don't spoil, but some do and when they do it spoils key moments if not everything. So I an understand the paranoia. Second intro from Season 3 for example has got to be the worst, literally giving away everything. Last one of Season 4 is awful too.
