Takahashi Meijin (高橋名人) means Master Takahashi. He was a guy born in Sapporo in May 1959 and his real name is Toshiyuki Takahashi.
In the 1980s Takahashi-san was working in the supermarket cleaning the stock and shelf and serving. He wanted to learn about computers because the idea of programming video games was very interesting for him the home PC had a nice gaming motion.
He saved money which was quite hard and buy a Sharp home PC and learned all about programming. Takahashi-san had a friend in the company Hudson Soft and he got him a interview. In the end the Hudson Soft gave him and job selling computers. Of course he was working in a supermarket so actually this selling job was not much different..
But Takahashi-san was still very interesting in programming games. And when his work hours would finish he became friends with many programmers at Hudson Soft in the different departments and would talk to them about programming and look them making new games. here he learned a lot about the game making procedures.
Takahashi-san became popular with the company when he helped to sell Hudson Soft's first Famicom game to a publisher. This game was Lode Runner which was actually a license port of a game by Doug Smith for Broderbund game company made in 1983. Lode Runner was very successful in Japan and there were many games in this series for different consoles.
