Getting old sucks. Last week I was walking through my apartment and my foot slid out from under me, cartoon style. My arms do that wheel thing, I yell, I catch myself on the wall. I didn’t actually fall down. Still hurt for two days.

I’ve used an AI to write simple programs a few times cause I know fuck all about programming an Arduino, but the god damn thing left out all the 0’s from the program, I’d correct it and it would go, “oh sorry, I’ll fix that” and just rewrite it still with no 0’s.

Also I feel that getting older shit. A couple years back I fell cause I stepped half on the sidewalk half into a yard. I bruised my hip and that shit took like a month to even approach not hurting. Meanwhile when I was in my teens I dislocated my knee cap, I slapped it back into place, popped up, and walked home. Still hurt but I could in fact walk on it. I’d be in disability for six months if I did that today.

There was a wave of people surrendering pets they couldn't or wouldn't care for when things started opening back up again. At least I think i remember seeing that in the news or something. I was shocked at how easily the vet was like, "yeah, totally," when I took my cat in to be euthanized because her cancer had become too bad. It's wild.

I work for a cat shelter and sanctuary, and we have a partnership with a lot of vet clinics in our county-- if someone comes in and wants to euthanize their cat for no good reason, they have the owner surrender the cat to the clinic, and then transfer the cat to us. We haven't seen a surrender rate go up with regards to "covid-kitties", but I know the municipal shelter has seen more dogs surrendered.
