A 'fun' little note about Betadine (and anyone with better information, feel free to correct me here): povidone iodine can cause what's called sensitization, particularly after repeated or prolonged exposure. It's rare but tl;dr you end up becoming allergic to it and more repeat exposure is REALLY unpleasant, to put it gently. This is one reason (but not the biggest) why hospitals in the US have started using alcohol or chlorhexidine gluconate antiseptics instead. Found this out after a chat with the nurse doing my pre-op antiseptic prep for my hysterectomy.

With regards to the religious objection to ending your life, once upon a time that was only (or mostly) a Catholic thing. But it's so part of popular culture trust other people have just absorbed it into their beliefs. A friend of mine took her life and at her Baptist funeral, the preacher was educating the congregation to let them know that it wasn't a sin to them. He specifically told everyone that Faith was in heaven and it's a misguided Catholic belief that taking your own life loses God's love and grace. He also talked about how well used her Bible was and how she was underlining passages as she struggled. He didn't seem to realize that was an admission there was no solace for her in the book or spirituality.

That lanes for care as called Triage. We use it for mass casualty & in combat like in large battles like storming the beaches in Normandy & the like. We are using inside the US & not in war time. Vaccine deniers should be back of the line.

I work at a hospital in Texas. We have so many patients dying every day. I have to sort the charts so I'm always reading about thirty-somethings taking Ivermectin or Iodine before they came to the ER. Then they die. Many of them leave behind small children. I had to read the other day about a father being told of his son's death over the phone. Each one of them, in their chart history, has a note that says "Refused COVID vaccine." I want to scream and throw my computer every time.

Idaho is so bad right now that it's spilling over into Washington hospitals. It's infuriating.

While I do not claim to be a medical professional, as a mother of grown children, and after decades of anthropomorphizing and pampering multiple very active and a few accident prone dogs, I’ve had extensive experience with topical antiseptics, antimicrobials, and antibiotic ointments/creams - mercurochrome, povidone-iodine, isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, neosporin, chlorhexidine, campho-phenique, bactracine, polymycin, etc., and I have to say that for general, at home use for minor skin wounds, chlorhexidine is hands down my favorite disinfecting antiseptic product. It doesn’t stink, sting, or stain, and in my experience, it is the absolute best at promoting super fast healing, over and above all others. I first discovered chlorhexidine (as Hibiclins) around 2003-2004, after dealing with repeat inflammations and infections of my belly button piercing (which I got in 2002) for almost two years. When I got another body piercing at a different shop, the technician advised me to use Hibiclins for my piercing aftercare. The next time I got an infection on my belly piercing, I used the Hibiclins for it and the infection cleared up practically overnight. I had only a few subsequent belly piercing infections within the following year, each one further apart from the one previous. I used Hibiclins each time, rapidly healed, and eventually, I never had another flareup of any of my piercings. My 32 yr old daughter recently got a helix piercing and had struggled with slow healing, constant pain, inflammation and repeat infections for more than 8 months. I got her a bottle of Hibiclins, and she had the same positive and lasting results as I had had with my own stubborn piercing years earlier. I’ve used it on my dogs for various cuts, minor scrapes, and several bites and punctures from their occasional scuffles with each other. Always super fast healing, less than two days for the minor wounds, less than a week for more serious bite wounds. I always keep some on hand. It’s my go-to and I always highly recommend it to others whenever such an occasion arises. It’s AWESOME!
