Last week I put out a poll asking which movie studio you'd most like to see a video about and Warner Bros. was the winner. The update is that the video is happening though it may be a while before it's released. It is completely written and mostly voiced (even made a thumbnail for it that I attached here), but the editing has proven to be unpleasant.

It's hard to avoid using copyrighted material when talking about a movie studio, especially in the way I wanted to tell this story. The video is not turning out like I had hoped so far and I've been getting discouraged. Thinking it would be best if I take a break and move onto other things for a while.

So the video is in progress, but it may be a while before it's completed.

Very understandable. Good luck!

Heh yeah can see that being a problem with them come to think of it. Maybe the first couple years of their silent movies are in the public domain 🤣

Thanks Ahmad. I'm sure it'll get done. It just feels like one of those situations where some time away from it would help things.

I was hoping Kevin but it appears to be only the ones before 1923, which are very few, mostly unknown and unimportant to my video. Good thought though.

Oh yeah, that’s a tough one. Not a legal expert, but I think you’d have a good chance at winning a copyright dispute considering the reasons and uses for those clips. Either way, hope you figure something out.

Thanks for the support Stonez. In my experience it's pretty hard to win copyright disputes on YouTube and they're pretty stressful in general so I really try to avoid them at all costs. Just hoping I could figure out ways around it without compromising the quality of the video too much. May have to try to find that right balance.

I love the thumbnail. You are doing great work, I really enjoyed the Sonic video this week. I am sure you will figure out how to tell the WB story in a fascinating way but I completely understand moving onto something else for now and coming back to it with fresh eyes in the future.

Thanks Jon. I'm confident I'll figure it all out eventually. I had similar troubles with my Pixar video about a year ago. Can't say I'm incredibly happy with how that one turned out but most people seem to like it and maybe it'll come together better this time. Really do appreciate the support though. That Sonic video was definitely one of the more fun ones to work on.

I would hope you get in touch with Legal Eagle (the Youtuber) He actually recently had a copyright strike on one of his videos that I believe he was rightfully under fair use (commentary). I would hope he could help you stay out of legal trouble while producing a great video! Best of luck!

Yeah, that'd be nice Christopher. I've dealt with copyright issues before and in my experience it's just a giant hassle that's ultimately hardly worth it even if you do win. Best to avoid by any means necessary.
