Happy Thanksgiving Week to those stateside. I keep reminding myself this week-nothing needs to be perfect, the decorations, the food, the house etc. What matters is spending time with family and being grateful. I am excited for the feast though, although I wouldn't say turkey is my fav. I'm in it for the side dishes-mashed potatoes with gravy and cheesy broccoli are my favorites, what is yours?

This week we have an Extra Butter Live hangout TONIGHT at 7:30. It will probably just be an hour as this week is busy for everyone! I'm excited to hang and chat though! Hope you can make it!

As I mentioned before we will just have two releases this week on Patreon and YT! Finishing TNG movies (tear) and the duck one! ( I can never remember the name, I keep thinking Marvin because of Marvel I think but I know that is wrong!)

Next week we will have our Christmas poll, thank you so much for all of your suggestions on last week's post, I am so glad to know there are still so many good ones I still need to see :)

Also going to be having a Christmas YT LIVE On 12/13 in the evening! Games and giveaways and packages!

Of course in this week of gratitude, I want you to know how thankful I am for each of you and your online friendship. I know I have never met you, but I want you to know how much I value you and how wonderful each of you are. Please be safe this week and remember to be kind!

Cassie

Ps: The Popcorn To Go podcast episode this week was movie milestones and some feedback is that it is the best one yet! Would love for you to give it a listen!

I am once again strongly advising you to watch TOS the Menagerie pt1 and 2 before watching the Chris Pine movies

T.J. Gengler

Howard the flippinā€™ Duck?! Did you lose a bet or something?

Shad Kanyak

Kinda looking forward to Howard the Duck. Such a terrible, idiotic, but fun movie.

Sam Wilson

My favorites are probably stuffing (homemade) and fried apples , really looking forward to both Star Trek TNG movies also!

Lyle Morgan

I remember seeing Howard the Duck when I was 9ā€¦.and thinking ā€œIā€™m probably too mature for this.ā€

William Bryan

Said this once and I'll say it again sweet Cassie, I'm thankful for your reaction to the original Ghostbusters. Watched the YT edit and discovered you while I was in the recovery room from back surgery. šŸ˜ŒšŸ˜Œ

nick bell

Is this an April fools thing?

Robert da Spruce

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving Cassie! Oh, and my favorite is the stuffing! šŸ˜Š

Philip G.

I need someone to feel me in on the lore behind HTD being watched

Christopher

Iā€™m anxious to see your Insurrection reaction; Iā€™m in the minority, but I think itā€™s a good movie. BTW, before you continue on with the JJ Abrams Trek movies, have you given thought into reacting to other episodes of The Original Series that you missed; or possibly giving Deep Space Nine a chance?

Blake Evans

Oh yes. Howard the Duck. Probably the best worst movie ever made, outside of Road House. I wore that VHS out when I was a kid. It also begun my lifelong crush for Lea Thompson.

Jacob Wagner

First a Pauly Shore film now Howard The Duck? You guys are just trolling her now lol

David Freese

The Duck it would have been better to call him Marvin. Just a recap Howard is in Guardians of The Galaxy and for a millisecond in Avengers Endgame

William Brownlee

Sorry you are wasting time on "Howard the Duck". May have been decent as an animated picture and was OK for a short time in comics with the right writer, but is just bad as a live action movie. Every movie has fans, but this one doesn't have many. My birthday was just 2 days ago and I was hoping for a good reaction to enjoy. I really enjoy how you try to see the good in every situation. I do laugh sometimes when you always want the romantic happy ending. Thanks for the smiles. Loved Grumpier Old Men and Some Like it Hot. Great films.

Just Plain Bob

Watched Howard the Duck when it was first released on VHS on the suggestion of a high school friend. It was obviously trying hard to be a cult classic and, equally obviously, failing miserably. Iā€™ve seen cult classics that just didnā€™t work for me - Repo Man and The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension spring immediately to mind. But, even though I didnā€™t ā€œget itā€ with those films I could definitely see what it was that others liked. They were different and, for what they were, they were well done. Howard the Duck, on the other hand, committed the cardinal sin of any movie striving to be a cult classic: it was just plain boring. Canā€™t see putting myself thru that 2 hours of pure boredom again, even for a Cassie reaction. PS: Iā€™m a fan of roasted or smoked turkey and dressing with homemade gravy (includes mushroom soup and chicken broth mixed together, with bits of roasted chicken, heated to a boil until thick and kept simmering until served). Also, pumpkin pie with pecan and brown sugar topping for desert. Delicious.

David Freese

Unfortunately it won a DVD poll on YouTube during the last package live

Wes

I can never decide if itā€™s so bad, itā€™s good or if itā€™s just badšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜‚

Bill Maurer

Howard the Duck before The Searchers .... ouch šŸ¤•šŸ¤•

Thats MR. Baldamort

Star Trek Genesis is one of my favs. I actually worked backwards. My first star trek movie i ever seen was Genisus and remembering liking it so much that I asked my dad if I could go back and watch the rest of Star Trek from his VHS collection. So this movie is my fav just from a nostalgia perspective. I'm aware it's not a lot of people fav.

Zane From Canada

Fun fact: If Howard The Duck had been a critical and financial success instead of the atomic bomb that it was, Pixar Animation Studios likely wouldn't be what it is today.

Just Plain Bob

Cassie randomly picked several movies on a YouTube live broadcast. It was among the movies picked and inexplicably won the YouTube live poll. I assume those watching that night hate her, and the rest of us, for some reason.

Choof

During a YT live she did a random pull of DVDs, then by rolling dice she narrowed it down to 4 then put those on a poll, then the YT crowd decided to troll and vote for Howard the duck and she's so nice she didn't just say no to this dumpster fire of a movie haha so here we are

Paul Cox

It's from a DVD pull in the last livestream. I don't remember the three other movies it beat, but they were all better.

Joel Wayne

Happy Thanksgiving Cassie, Carly and the rest of the family. I love smoked turkey but am a fan of most and way it is cooked. Sides.....sweet potatoes, dressing (not stuffing) and cranberry sauce.

Zane From Canada

Just outta curiosity, what were the other movies drawn on the YT Live? Asking for a friend. šŸ¤Ŗ

Wesley White

Sorry I won't be able to make it for the hang out tonight, work is kicking my butt lol! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving week, love and support šŸ„°šŸ˜‡šŸ™šŸ¤—šŸ˜šŸ˜‰āœŒļøšŸ‘šŸŒ¹

Starpartyguy

Marginally better than Santa Claus conquers the Martians!

ROACH

Lol Paulie Shore? Should have bin Encino Man with Brendan Frasier and Paulie Shore

Joe M

Cassieā€™s first ā€œSo Bad itā€™s Good movieā€ I commend her for it. Keep up the trend. Go the distance. Watch The Room next. Followed by Plan 9 from Outer Space, Samurai Cop and my personal favorite, Miami Connection. Just something to think about.

Godzilla Jones

Damn the haters. Howard the Duck is fun! Just enjoy the weird ass ride!

Robert N Douglass

Nemesis, not Genesis. That was "The Wrath of Khan" where Spock died. And now Cassie may end up having to watch the Kelvin Timeline films...

mikethemotormouth

My favorite anything during Thanksgiving or Christmas is my mom's double layer pumpkin cheesecake My favorite side? Green bean casserole My favorite meat? Duck. Sorry Howard

Gray

Come and See was definitely one of them, so be happy she didn't have to watch that at thanksgiving lol

mikethemotormouth

And then Howard flew past that topless duck and I thought "Maybe I shouldn't be watching this...oh well. Not the first time this kind of thing has happened, probably not gonna be the last."

Donald Fleming

Don't listen to the Howard the Duck naysayers. It's one of my guilty pleasures. Yes, it's an incredibly goofy movie, and people have taken pleasure poking fun at George Lucas for producing it (most famously William Shatner when he appeared at the AFI Lifetime Achievement tribute for George back in 2005 where he sang his own version of 'My Way', and Holly Robinson when she appeared on a 1987 episode of The Tonight Show & she mumbled the movie's title when she told Johnny about what her rough start in movies), but it's a fun 111 minutes where you get to turn your brain off & just enjoy the silliness of a alien duck stuck in a world he never made. btw, when I saw the movie in the theaters the year it was released (1986), I managed to catch it at a theater that was showing another movie that Lea Thompson was starring in called 'Space Camp'. One of the greatest thing about that movie was the musical score, which was done by none other than John Williams.

Dean Holt

Other than it having Pike in the episodes I donā€™t see any link to the films. And in the first one it explains who he is anyway because as itā€™s starts before Kirk joined Starfleet

Tim C

Definitely the Stuffing we always made extra ,Devil Eggs and Pumpkin Pie.But the gravy to.I could go on on.šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ Ours is October though. I Seen Son inlaw haven't seen it in years,Funny Movie.

Chris Thom

Howard the Duck was one of the very first movies I ever saw. But really don't remember much about it at all. Have vague memories of the special effects being pretty good for the time.

Witchfinder General

For Howard the Duck they actually formed a girl band who played their own instruments with original songs šŸŽøšŸŽø

Stranger2Reality

I genuinely wonder how many people have actually seen that movie, especially among the people who voted for it. I saw it back in the 80s and remember almost nothing about it, but I really don't hear it referenced much at all, even among fans of bad movies.

Stick Figure Studios

@Chris: I'm curious what you think of it now. I also liked it when I first saw it as a kid, but I made a mistake of watching it again as an adult.

Brian's Dog

She'll love it, I've never been more sure of anything.

Shad Kanyak

I see it referred often. Usually for bad reasons. Particularly for a scene between Howard and Lea Thompson. I was 7 when it came out, so it was mostly over my head back then. First time I saw it again as an adult was on a date. It quickly became a ā€œoh noā€ decision.

Stranger2Reality

Sounds like when "Boaty McBoatface" won an online contest to name a submarine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boaty_McBoatface

Neill Shaughness

By that reasoning she didn't need to watch any TOS as all the characters are reintroduced in the film. Having a connection to the characters is the whole point

Ron

I eventually did finish Howard the Duck, but I had to watch it in 5 min increments because it was so cringe. Definitely a hard watch, but I suppose worth a watch just to see what the kerfuffle is all about.

Stranger2Reality

I have to be honest here, while there are many awful Paulie Shore movies, Son in Law is actually decent, mainly because it's got a great cast around him, so it isn't just him doing "The Weasel" non-stop.

Stick Figure Studios

The other three were COME AND SEE, MCCLINTOCK with John Wayne and THE GUARDIAN with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher.

Jacob King

Iā€™m not sure Cassie is the right reactor for trash movies like Howard the Duck. It can be fun listening to a group of comedians spend 90 minutes roasting a badly made film but I donā€™t get the appeal of asking one person to fill that dead air.

Stranger2Reality

I can totally get people not being on the same wavelength as Repo Man, as the entire movie is like non-stop non sequiturs and randomness. I think that movie is absolutely hilarious, but it's definitely not one I would just automatically recommend to anyone and everyone.

Dan

You are legally required to follow The Room with The Disaster Artist, which is about the making of The Room. The second movie is actually remarkably great, but you miss all the context if you don't work through The Room first

Mike LL

The John Wayne western comedy McClintock was also in that poll. A dark day indeed!

Ricardo Rodriguez

I'm drinking a six pack during the Howard the Duck reaction. Twill at least be hilarious. Nemesis I'm honestly curious how that's gonna go down.

Stick Figure Studios

There are movies that are "so bad they're good" and then there are movies that are just bad. HOWARD is the latter.

Stick Figure Studios

@Paul: The other three films were COME AND SEE, MCCLINTOCK (with John Wayne) and THE GUARDIAN (with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher).

Stuart Guthrie Jr.

Happy Thanksgiving Cassie, your family and fellow patrons. I agree with you 100 percent. I like side items such as mashed potatoes and stuffing better than the turkey.

Kyle

YES, lol.

Stick Figure Studios

I don't think it's necessary. I didn't see those episodes either before watching the Kelvin movies and I had no trouble grasping who Pike was. If, however, she were to watch DISCOVERY or STRANGE NEW WORLDS, then I think it would be necessary.

Steve Mercier

Howard the Duck...I actually saw that in theaters...I've never been the same...

Richard Maurer

The reason Repo Man and Buckaroo Banzai donā€™t work as cult movies is because the filmmakers were trying to make cult movies.

Mike LL

When this channel started no one could have predicted that a Thanksgiving Week schedule would consist of HOWARD THE DUCK and STAR TREK NEMESIS. What a week to be Thankful for! But truly, Cassie and her channel are a blessing to everyone!

Clay F

Yeah, a total of 4 choices in the YT live poll. COME AND SEE MCCLINTOCK THE GUARDIAN HOWARD THE DUCK I voted Come and See. My best memory of the results is ballpark: Come and See -- 10% McClintock -- 25% The Guardian -- 25% Howard the Duck -- 40%

Tara

Howard The Duck? What theā€¦

John Liebling

Cassie, after you take a break from Star Trek...Please, please, please, before you head into the Chris Pine movies - go back to the original Star Trek, with Shatner and Nimoy and watch the Menagerie. It will be helpful if you understand Christopher Pike's backstory, he was the captain before Kirk. I understand if you don't want to do this with the PIB community - do it for yourself. Especially for the second movie, it will have more emotional impact. Cassie, have a great Thanksgiving with your extended family.

Richard Maurer

Officially nominating Horror of Dracula for the Christmas pollā€¦ā€¦ because I donā€™t like Christmas movies. Also because if Diehard is a Christmas movie then any movie can be a Christmas movie.

Sam Wilson

Slices apples sautƩed in butter with brown sugar, cinnamon and a touch of cloves, it's pretty darn good!

Cole Jennett

At least from my perspective, not having seen it first didnā€™t impact my love for the reboot in any way. I couldnā€™t think more highly of that movie!

Walter

not sure I can join the Howard The Duck reaction. I dislike that movie greatly. But looking forward to closing out the TNG journey (though I don't really like that movie either...)

Paul Cox

@stick Right, right! Now, I'm a proponent of every reactor watching Come and See eventually, but this was by some distance the worst dvd draw poll she's ever had to honor.

Bill Maurer

Being honest ... If this is what I am complaining about; I must be doing okay. Happy Thanksgiving šŸ¦ƒšŸ¦ƒ everyone !!!!!!

Joe

The Duck has entered the building people (haha). Cassie be like, "Stop it...that's gonna haunt my nightmares" šŸ˜†

John Liebling

That's good to hear. I still feel if Cassie watched the Menagerie, she'd get some subtle hints in the first and not so subtle characters points. There is of course more depth in the more recent star trek Strange New Worlds. I like it. Though I think others on this thread have expressed a different point of view.

Matt Jamison

My prediction for "Howard the Duck": Cassie will have a confused look most of the reaction and won't like the movie.

Chris Thom

Will be nostalgic for sure. Haven't seen it since I was 6 probably.

Mark

Not watching the Chris Pine movies is an easy solution here.

bgb1975

Cornbread!

Choof

That's the whole reason she started watching ST to begin with. We're just blessed she ended up loving the franchise overall. And whatever issues some Trek fans have with the new trilogy I'm confident she'll love them

Donald Fleming

George Lucas produced the film, so it goes without saying that ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) did the special effects.

Mark shes watching the Kelvin movies and then taking a break. Hopefully we get more trek in 25 plus no one voted for Kelvin movies. But that is what got the ball moving on trek for the channel

Stick Figure Studios

I don't think it's necessary. I Saw the Kelvin movies without ever having seen those two episodes from TOS and my grasp of who Pike was and my enjoyment of the stories was completely unaffected, though I do think that if she were to watch DISCOVERY and/or STRANGE NEW WORLDS, she would need to see them.

T.J. Gengler

I can appreciate an enjoyably dumb movie with the best of us. Iā€™ve long preached to mind numbing brilliance that is THE ICE PIRATES. It has no redeeming qualities but itā€™s a heck of a ride. HOWARD though just fails for me. I will watch the reaction to see Cassieā€™s befuddlement as we all question our life choices. BTW - sweet potatoes, plain, baked, skin-on, served with just butter, salt and pepper.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, I think youre right, Clay. I remember that two other titles (THE GUARDIAN and MCCLINTOCK I believe) essentially split the vote. Taken together they actually equaled more than HOWARD and if I had been able, I would have switched my vote to whichever one had the chance of actually winning, but the YouTube polls don't allow you to do that.

Trevor Rotan

ā€œCleve Land?ā€

Randy Schuh

You need to see the 2009 Star Trek with Chris Pine. This movie shows how they all met when they were young. Hint...Kirk did not like Spock

Byrd N. Hand

Congrats, I believe you're about to become the first reactor with over 50K subs to watch the entire 'Star Trek 1.0' movie series. Now, if you'd become the second (after Jen Murray) to watch the entire James Bond series (hint, hint)...

Richard Maurer

So many people here crying about Howard the Duck. Would I have voted for it? No. But it won, so we might as well embrace the suckyness. I really do enjoy when Cassie has no reference point to stand on when going into a movie so this should be fun.

Ian A

I loooove Howard the Duck in a soo bad its good type of way. I haven't seen it in yrs. Plus I used to have an insane crush on Lea Thompson. Nemesis I've not seen before. I'm excited for both of these! Thanks!

Chris Retzlaff

I love Spacecamp. I can definitely say that I like Howard the Duck, but I can definitely see that in 2024 there are some inappropriate moments and some things are not looked well on. But if it's to hot.... stay out of the kitchen

Chris Retzlaff

You know you don't have to watch it, it's not mandatory, you know that you don't like it already. Maybe just wait for the YT cut

Stick Figure Studios

Oh, believe me. I know. That is my plan. I've seen both HOWARD and NEMESIS more than enough times already... but it's still gonna be rough on Cassie and whoever else watches them with her.

John Liebling

Okay, well I am not going to spoil what is to come. Cassie is becoming more and more of a Trekker and I feel she'd enjoy one longer two in one episode - the Menagerie. I don't think she ever watched the Chris Pike pilot. She'd she a more emotional Spok, no McCoy, nobody considered Shatner yet. As I suggested, maybe she wouldn't want to watch with the PIB community, maybe just for the fun of it, for herself. In any case, we are all open to our own point of view and respecting the difference we might have. These are for what it's worth, my own two cents. It's still Cassie's call what she wants to do. I am still hopeful we'll see one or some Fred Astaire in 2025, and other musicals with Gene Kelly. Or some Rogers and Hammerstein. I don't think Cassie or Carly has scene Oklahoma. A lot of Romance in that classic musical.

V M

It's a missed opportunity to watch something good, Chris.

Jacob Harris

HOWARD THE DUCK 1986!

V M

howard the duck won the razzie for worst film of 1986.

Chris Thom

Oh actually George Lucas was Executive Producer of Howard the Duck. Not the official director. Whoops. Pretty sure he had a major hand in it, though.

Kent

Cassie got trolled so hard with Howard the Duck. Diabolical...but will make for a hilarious reaction.

Chrissonator

I'd say there's at least one more movie after Nemesis... heh

Chrissonator

Eh, those are an alternate timeline, so they don't really represent how Kirk and Spock met in the prime timeline.

Clay F

Richard, she randomly selected Come and See as one of the candidates for the poll. If on a banned list, maybe she didn't know.

Ben Schwartz

As a ST fan, I liked Nemesis... but it's easily the worst TNG film, as everyone says. the storyline is meh. But it's still a TNG movie, it's still the TNG crew, and I still like the movie. Even though we have three seasons of Picard (season 3 was a really great sendoff for the hardcore TNG fans), I wish the last TNG movie had been done better. But I still enjoyed it, I'm sure Cassie will too.

Brian Lowery

Canā€™t wait to see your reaction to the Star Trek reboot films.

Clarence Newman

To your little note below Star Trek Insurrection about not wanting it to be over, I'm going to channel my inner Rambo: "Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don't turn it off!" We understand that the three Pine movies will be it for now, but rest assured, there's plenty of boldly going to be done in the future. Ye cannae change the laws of physics, lassie, so until then, lock and load, live long and prosper, and before you know it, it will be time once again to make it so.

Clarence Newman

Cassie's Patreon subscribers need to have a veto on YT poll winners in future. This is two hours of her precious little life we're talking about here. She can also veto it herself and I will personally fill the gap with a better film. Trust me, Cassie!

Clarence Newman

The rest of the Bonds would be great, although there are some true duds in there. I mean, without spoiling anything (as if it's possible to spoil this movie more), who on earth thought it was a good idea to cast those two nimrods as the bad guys in Diamonds are Forever? Were they crazy, Montana? Were they crazy?

Clarence Newman

I like the Pine movies as a standalone batch. They're quite good in their way, with a really good cast. But they're not true Star Trek, any more than Gladiator 2 is true Gladiator.

Clarence Newman

Cassie can always do a "What's Up Doc?" on Howard. The day after she "watches it", she can come on here, profusely apologising that she did in fact sit through the whole thing, but "Gosh dangit, I forgot to press record on the camera!" She can then promise to maybe get around to watching it again at some point in the future, then skip out of the room like her kids on the last day of school.

Clarence Newman

In all lucid seriousness, a Hammer Horror would not be the worst choice for Cassie. She's seen waaaaay worse, and there's a kind of campy fun to them. And it stars Christopher Lee, who was an acceptably competent actor in his day. He was in that hobbit thing, you know.

Clarence Newman

Stick, your second post there concerns me. "I've seen both HOWARD and NEMESIS more than enough times already." Tell me you have not seen either of those movies twice!

Clarence Newman

Over The Top was there too, but got eliminated by Cassie's treacherous, Stallone-hating dice.

Clarence Newman

"Worst movie outside of Roadhouse"? Not Swayze's Roadhouse, right? Don't tell me that, Blake. Cassie, please watch Swayze's Roadhouse so you know Blake is talking about the Jake Gyllenhaal remake.

Clarence Newman

She owes us a double bill of John Wayne, Bill. The Searchers and The Sons of Katie Elder.

2024-11-27 10:53:29 You're reminding of those Youtube videos where people do those slingshot fairground rides. Half the time they're screaming, the other half they're passed out in the chair. I hope watching Howard is a little less traumatic for Cassie.

Clarence Newman

It's not happening before the Pine movies, Neil. People have been asking Cassie to watch everything from DS9 to Voyager to more episodes of TOS and TNG, plus Picard before she watches the Pine movies, but she's been very clear that it's the TNG movies, then the Pines, then a long break. The Menagerie will happen eventually, though, because it's a great double episode. Just not for a while.

"The Sons of Katie Elder"? I *love* that song! Now I'll be singing it all day! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VDS8uArR0A :-P :-P :-P

I was going to react to Clarence's first comment. Clicking "Load replies" obviated this. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

/looks at the movies I demand a reaction to Chairman of the Board (1997)! "I keep reminding myself this week-nothing needs to be perfect, the decorations, the food, the house etc." If you truly wanted at least one perfect thing, you could have invited *me*! šŸ‘¼ I'm also not sure you have an excuse for a lack of perfection, given you had a trial run with Canadian Thanksgiving! :-P So what am I grateful for this Thanksgiving? ... ... ... I am grateful I'll be so busy with Thanksgiving preparations and celebrations and recovery that I will be unable to watch the reactions to these movies. :-P :-P :-P "Remember to be kind!" That's a very unrealistic exhortation to put in a post announcing the coming of the anthropomorphic waterfowl. Regardless: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njU7VVO4co4&t=2255s

Happy Hanukkah

Howard the Duck. So powerful, he can draw all the heat away from Paulie Shore!

Cassie will enjoy Thanksgiving. No matter what happens, she will be able to comfort herself with the knowledge that Lt Colonel Frank Slade is not about to drop in uninvited.

Canā€™t believe Howard the Duck won a poll. Itā€™s been a very long time since I first saw this movie, but Iā€™m pretty sure it was lousy. People probably just wanted to see Lea Thompson.

Jens Kristensen

I have the original danish poster for "Howard The Duck" on the wall in my living room ... šŸ–¤šŸ’ŖšŸ»šŸ¦†

Clarence Newman

Oh my God, T.J., Ice Pirates is so random. I'm currently rewatching one of my favourite ever sitcoms - "Soap" (1977-1981), and the character of Peter Campbell the Tennis Pro has just been murdered by Chester. Peter Campbell was played by Robert Urich, who was also the star of Ice Pirates. I remember enjoying that movie, in particular the scene at the end where they age rapidly and Roscoe ends up with an afro the size of an elephant's head. Hilarious.

Richard Maurer

Acceptably competent? The greatest screen Dracula ever? The greatest Bond villain ever? Saruman? Blasphemy! Seriously Christopher Lee is considered a good,or even great, actor by most critics (if you care what the critics think) And Hammer films werenā€™t really ā€œcampyā€ . - but other than that I agree with your statement completely.

Richard Maurer

I saw where someone claimed it was on the fabled ā€œbannedā€ list. Seemed odd to me too. The only films I know for sure are banned are The Exorcist, The Omen, and Hereditary.

Richard Maurer

A veto on YT polls would pretty much make them pointless. Cassie doesnā€™t do many YT polls , but perhaps she should do less.

Richard Maurer

Gun to my head, Iā€™m watching Howard the Duck over any movie Paulie Shore starred in. His schtick gets real old, real fast.

Kent

Idk. I think you might be missing the point of a reaction channel. Many will find plenty of entertainment value in seeing reactions to bad films as well. Movies like The Room are notorious for that reason alone.

Byrd N. Hand

If she's watched "Son-in-Law" and, soon enough, "Howard the Duck," she and Carly can sure as hell watch even the weakest Bond movies as well (I mean, they've already watched "Live and Let Die," which is the third weakest in the series, IMO).

Above Average Dave

How did Howard the Duck get on here. Perhaps the worst Hwood movies ever made, and that's saying a LOT. Did people want to see Cassie waste 2 hours of her time, plus editing?

Clarence Newman

You may speak the truth, Richard, but the greatest Bond villain ever? Have a word with yourself. Even with the extra nipple, Herve acted him off the screen.

Clarence Newman

And campy might not be the right word. Exaggerated. Over-dramatic. Only slightly, but enough in both areas to take the sting out of the horror.

Byrd N. Hand

Hooray for Jar Jar Abrams and his shallow mystery boxes and crates of 'member berries! šŸ™„

bgb1975

"Ice Pirates" was a film I remember loving as a kid, having seen it once or twice. A few decades later, I grabbed it and watched it and couldn't believe how my childhood judgment had failed me! It has made me question every movie I grew up with. But I still think most of them are pretty solid!

Cole Jennett

Didnā€™t they change the name of that Carrot Top movie to ā€œBox Office Poison?ā€ Or did they settle on ā€œChairman of the Bored?ā€ RIP Norm MacdonaldšŸ˜‚

Joe

Cassie inflicted two Mel Brooks clunkers on me, so HTD feels like some payback (haha).

Richard Maurer

I did forget Human Centipede. Is Antichrist ā€œofficiallyā€ on the list? I mean it would be if Cassie was aware of it but I donā€™t recall ever seeing it mentioned before.

Zane From Canada

I would've voted for McClintock since Cas hasn't done a John Wayne film since The Quiet Man. The Guardian would've been a decent Cassie-pleaser because of Kevin Costner.

Joe

No way Live and Let Die is the third weakest, and it was the best of the Moore films IMO. I always felt Moore was just channeling his Simon Templar persona, he loved to send-up Bond and embraced the campiness.

Clarence Newman

Maybe not officially, Richard, but it might as well be. If she ever threatens to watch it, she'll get a window-shattering reply of "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

Above Average Dave

Favorite Thanksgiving foods are the Lasagna (which accompanies the Turkey, because we're Italian-American), my Grandma Ann's apple pie (a recipe she taught me before she passed), and my own homemade Apple-Cranberry bread, which is more like a cake than a bread (no yeast). Glad to post the recipe for the latter if anyone wants. Simple to make and tastes like Thanksgiving!

Joe

Sorry, she just has to "man-up" Clarence. Cassie can do hard things.šŸ˜†

Dean Holt

Yes I get having a connection to the characters, but the Pike in the TOS is a very different version. Heā€™s played by a different actor and heā€™s more of a supporting character. So I donā€™t think she will get much benefit out of watching it.

Byrd N. Hand

The borderline 'blaxploitation' tone was always weird to me. It also has a weak villain - who, incidentally, has the most ridiculous death of any villain in the entire series (even outdoing Goldfinger's) - and probably the most utterly helpless heroine in the entire series. For me, Moore didn't truly start hitting his stride in the role until "The Spy Who Loved Me"... and then had worn out his welcome by "Octopussy." šŸ¤”

Bill Maurer

in sad news, Earl Holliman - the actor who played Matt Elder passed away recently. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/earl-holliman-dead-police-woman-1236072160/

Mark White

Moonraker all the way! Outlandish bond movie! And we get Jaws back!

CLisa

Absolutely love Star Trek the next generation

Clay F

Stick ā€” I now remember you commenting during the poll that couldnā€™t change vote. All ā€” as for a banned list, she has mentioned expressly one or two movies that are a no-go. But I never realized there may be an extensive list. I had a fellow patron tell me that Taxi Driver I suggested would be a no-go (banned) by the team. I replied I didnā€™t think so. An AFI Top 100 movie with less sex/nudity than other content she has reacted to, and for sure less violence.

Mark White

Hi Cassie, such a shame your TNG journey is coming to a end! Itā€™s really has been a big highlight of my year watching your reactions to a wonderful part of my youth and such a iconic series. If you find the end of Nemesis a bit of a anti climax. Almost as if that crew didnā€™t get the send off you wanted like TOS got, firstly you wont be alone in that thought and itā€™s put right in Picard season 3! If you donā€™t watch it on the channel, make sure you watch it on your own one day. I feel once again I must mention some snowy movies for December. The Day after Tomorrow. (Natural disaster movie) Everest. (True story, good cast) The mountain between us. (Idris Elba and Kate Winslet, love story in the snow. Ignore the detractors, youā€™ll like it. šŸ™‚

RJ MacReady

Honestly after the originals the reboot movies are just soulless. I will skip them even though I saw 1 and 2 in the theater. I tried but I just could not get into the new Spock actor.

RJ MacReady

It will be sad when the ST journey ends with Nemesis. She will probably like the reboot movies I was pretty meh on them. Hopefully next year she continues with Picard!

Richard Maurer

@Clay - I strongly believe some people are projecting movies they are personally against onto the ā€œbannedā€ list.

Jens Kristensen

Ha ha, yes - danish title: "Howard - Helten Over Alle Helte" - /"Howard - The Hero Of All Heroes"... or something like that? :D

Blake Evans

Donā€™t get me wrong I absolutely adore Swayzeā€™s Road House and I hope Cassie does watch it, but itā€™s utterly ridiculous. Now the Jake Gyllenhaal version was garbage.

Alan Kobb

How much do you want to bet that I can make you crave seconds of brussels sprouts?!?!?!

Chris Clarke

Was going to mention this last night, Cassie, but a bit under the weather at the moment. There's a YouTube channel I follow about aircraft, and many people say it has eased their fear of flying. I won't mention the name unless you're interested though.

Ice Pirates should be in a poll against SpaceHunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone and The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai as strange 80s cult sci-fi curios with uneven tone

Clarence Newman

Clay. The Taxi Driver thing can only be for one reason. And I'd put Leaving Las Vegas and Derailed on the banned list before I'd consider banning that one.

Mike Lemon

"and remember to be kind!" I am so disappointed. Just six months ago you watched the movie but you missed the chance to use one of the most iconic lines of the '80s- "Be excellent to each other." Favorite sides? Usually bread. I *hate* that vomit-inducing, vile weed people put in everything, onion. So I only eat the outermost layer of turkey (the inner is disgustingly contaminated by stuffing) and bread.

Darren Harrison

I am far from a Star Trek fan, but as I mentioned last night I do hope you view at least the first of the Chris Pine ā€œStar Trekā€ movies. Yes I am the one whose auto correct thought I was saying ā€œChristmas Pineā€ LOLā€¦Grrrā€¦so embarrassing!! In the Superman talk, I was going to mention I hope ā€œWonder Womanā€ gets a viewā€¦it also stars Chris Pine. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Richard Maurer

Thanksgiving favorites? Iā€™m a traditionalist - turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie.

Stick Figure Studios

I wouldn't put LALD as the third weakestnod the series, but I do think it's the second weakest Moore film.

Picard Season 3 šŸ˜

The Chris Pine movies are what she was most looking forward to when she started her ST Journey.

Fun fact, I saw Howard the Duck in the theater when it came out... twice.

Bert Towle

Well if you're going to watch the worst movie ever filmed in Petaluma, CA, you should try some good ones like American Graffiti, or Peggy Sue Got Married or Phenomenon.

scott osborne

it was not a poll winner it was during the last live stream pick we all picked it so she can have a bit of fun

McShades

Picard season 3 is awesome. If you like sci-fi and haven't seen it yet, Ready Player One (Steven Spielberg movie) is excellent also. Another great Steven Spielberg movie is Real Steel which has Hugh Jackman in it.

McShades

I believe a really young Harrison Ford was in American Graffiti, although it was a small part. A lot of young actors who became big later on were in this movie. Great Movie

Dan M

Happy Thanksgiving Cassie and Carly! And Happy Thanksgiving to the entire PIB community! Iā€™m thankful for another year of watching and talking movies with you all. šŸ™ šŸ„‚

Ian Tonge

Real Steel was surprisingly excellent. I assumed it was just some goofy mid-range family movie about boxing robots, and it sort of is, but everybody involved put in a lot more effort than they needed to. It far surpassed my expectations and it's actually one of my favourite Hugh Jackman movies.

Darren Harrison

The question was raised during the live chat. I think the only advantage to watching ā€œHoward the Duckā€ is all other movies will look better in comparison - and that from a longtime Lea Thompson fan

Clarence Newman

Maybe we need a poll for movie stars in good films before they were movie stars. Here's a few: Carrie (1976) - John Travolta (and Sissy Spacek) Enter The Dragon (1973) - Jackie Chan (and Bruce Lee) Empire of the Sun (1987) - Christian Bale (and John Malkovich) Taps (1981) - Tom Cruise (and Timothy Hutton) The Lords of Discipline (1983) - Michael Biehn (and David Keith) A River Runs Through It (1992) - Joseph Gordon-Levitt (and Brad Pitt) Donnie Darko (2001) - Seth Rogen (and Jake Gyllenhal)

Cole Jennett

Just imagine it if you figured out how to get on discord! Happy Thanksgiving!

Clarence Newman

I've just rewatched Cassie's reaction to Airplane. Very quotable movie, that one. I'm having a case of the Thanksgiving blues, though. I'm sitting here in my home office (it's a converted shed at the bottom of my garden, but that's not important right now) and I'm aware that you've still not watched An Officer and a Gentleman. Do you think you could put me out of my misery and tell me if you're going to be watching it any time soon? You can tell me, I'm a doctor. What with Son-In-Law and Howard The Duck, it looks like I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines. I'm a little anxious, so I just want you to know, we're all counting on you. I'm not expecting the answer to be yes, but maybe I'm wrong. If it's a no, then..... What a pisser.

Dan M

lolā€¦Iā€™ll get there eventually Cole. When my daughters are home for the holidays Iā€™ll have to recruit one of them to get me through my tech deficiency.

Jimmy Stewart

shameless plug for Patrick Stewart in A Christmas Carolā€¦. Make it so #1

Mark White

The Outsiders has to be on that list! Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon.

Mark White

Put the poor man out of his misery Cassie!! šŸ˜† Clarence, you got me as about as confused as I will ever be! (Yes, I know that is easy!) You have thanksgiving blues! so now I am questioning my original assumption of your nationality and you are a Doctor, who works in a shed at the bottom of his Garden!šŸ¤”šŸ¤£

Mark White

McShades, I would love to see Cassie react to Picard season 3. Also, Cassie has reacted to Ready Player One. It should be there somewhere.

Clarence Newman

There's more than one kind of Thanksgiving, Mark. Mine is being reserved for the day Cassie finally watches Sugar Britches walk the wall.

Byrd N. Hand

Yes, Willard Huyck, who co-wrote the scripts for "American Graffiti" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," directed it.

Byrd N. Hand

"Moonraker" gets a lot of shit from a lot of people, and I also thought I'd hate it as a result, but I actually really liked it. On paper, much of it shouldn't work, but it somehow does. And I think it's the funniest Bond movie and also has perhaps the most underrated villain in the entire series.

David

Based Director of the wizard of oz harry potter and the philosopher's stone same scene Like Wicked new movie was Amazing and Brilliant this movie called Wicked Cassie and Carly's first time watching Spectacular movie reaction we talk about best friend David stapley say this movie a winner

Bagofsoup

Completely agree on all the above mentioned movies, Ready Player One and Reel Steel. And a big agreement on Cassie having to watch Picard Season 3. It will give her the conclusion to TNG that the movies donā€™t give, and she will only fail to recognize three characters or so (2 being from Voyager and 1 from Picard season 1-2). I didnā€™t get into Picard Season 1-2 at all, but I really enjoyed season 3. I wish Star Trek would have gotten so dark lately with NuTrek in the stories and lighting, but there was so much to love there!

Chris Thom

Don't be rash and go and do something crazy like quitting drugs. My God. It's Howard the Duck week AND Thanksgiving for Gods sake.

Clay F

I like Peggy Sue Got Married and Phenomenon. American Graffiti is AFI Top 100. Set in 1962 and loosely based on George Lucas' experiences in Modesto, California.

Clay F

Wow, twice is hardcore. I may have seen bits and pieces. I am not sure. Thus, will be doing my first watch along with Cassie's full reaction.

Clarence Newman

It occurs to me that I also tend to smile a lot when I'm on here. That's down to you guys, so there's my Thanksgiving. šŸ‘šŸ‘ŠšŸ‘ŒšŸ––

Byrd N. Hand

Adding to Clarence's idea, I'll include: "Bonnie and Clyde" - Faye Dunaway, Gene Hackman, and Gene Wilder "Catch-22" - several actors, though, perhaps most notably, Martin Sheen "M*A*S*H" - Elliott Gould and Robert Duvall "The Last Picture Show" - Jeff Bridges, Cybil Shepherd, and Randy Quaid "Raising Arizona" - John Goodman and Frances McDormand "Dazed and Confused" - also several actors, though, most notably, Matthew McConaughey and Ben Affleck "Gattaca" - Jude Law
