Just FYI, Minnie Driver saying "Rosebud" the first time we see her waking up in the hospital is a reference to CITIZEN KANE, a favorite film of the director Bonnie Hunt.

I had no idea David Duchovny starred in this!! As a HUGE X-Files fan this was a fantastic surprise!!

Gideon James

Really looking forward to March.

Johnny Liu

Thanks Cassie, glad I can finally watch this one :)

Answering Carly's question about the first Superbowl Halftime performer: The University of Arizona Symphonic Marching Band, The Grambling State University Marching Band, jazz musician and bandleader Al Hirt, and The Anaheim High School "Ana-Hi-Steppers" Drill Team and Flag Girls all performed. Superbowl 1 was played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Jan. 15, 1967. The music performed during halftime included songs from "The Sound of Music", a jazz medley (montage!) "Way Down Yonder in New Orleans/When the Saints Go Marching In", "This Is My Country", "The William Tell Overture", and other songs. There were no floating stages, no fans with flashlights, no Apple Music sponsorship (no Apple or Apple Music period), and it did not take an army of volunteers to set up and take down the scenery and props. Oh, and the Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10. And now over to Jim for the weather....

damn.................my only add-on is that the halftime wasn't a big deal or advertised bonus viewing until the 90s, I'm over 50 and remember every Superbowl since 1978, went to Superbowl 20 in 1986

I loved your reaction to this! It is my all-time favorite movie! When it was first in theaters, I didn’t get to see it until it went to the theater with the “cheap seats”. At only $1.50 per ticket, I saw it 10 times in two weeks because I loved it so much! I took my mom with me once or twice, and different friends other times, but it just made me so happy. All the characters seem so genuine and there’s not a villain or “bad guy” to be found. Carroll O’Connor (Marty/Grace’s grandpa) reminds me so much of my dad in this movie. From the very first time I saw it, I saw the resemblance. My dad is now passed away, so it makes me a little sad now but also still makes me smile. I’m glad you both liked it. 😊

Great film. Bonnie Hunt (Grace's) BFF, wrote, directed and produced this film. This film always gets to me. She knows how to write a beautiful story

Loved being able to watch this for the first time live with both of you! It was a great movie and a really fun time! Looking forward to the edit.

SplinterTME

This is my favorite Romantic movie. And this was the first time I've watched it since I had my own transplant last year. It hits differently now I'll say that for sure.

Sam White

Watch John Cusack and Minnie Driver in "Grosse Pointe Blank" for an action-packed Rom/Com! Also starring Dan Aykroyd.

Lamar Savage

Even though I know it's likely that you won't be coming back here to look for new comments at this point, I need to tell you two this. I've been a film fan all my life and especially of the high quality Rom-Com. Ever since movie reactors became a thing I've been literally begging the good ones to watch this film, which has been my favorite Rom-Com for over 22 years! Not one of them has touched it..... until you two did! I am deliriously happy that you two were the first! Your reactions were EVERYTHING I was hoping I'd see! I've now watched it through your eyes three times! And it won't be the last time I do...... :)

2023-02-21 13:57:02 Haven’t had a chance to watch this one yet, but will soon. Just thought I’d ask you, Cassie, if you would still consider doing a Reaction for About Time in the future, since you initially brought it up. It would be very interesting to here your thoughts on the Film. Please and Thanks.

I definitely agree with Lamar as I have always been a huge fan of this film.

The way Grace handled herself was amazing, she was never jealous or seemed to be living in the shadow of Bob's late wife or competing with her memory, that scene with them on the sofa talking about the habitat, she acknowledges how hard he's been working and that his wife would be proud, when he says thank you and kisses her I feel that the thank you wasn't for what she said, but for how she's handled all this again not being jealous or feeling awkward when he talks about his wife. Lastly there's their reunion in Italy, after he makes his feelings clear and they kiss she holds his face and brings him in close to hear her heart beat, and I love that line from the grandfather about how her heart beat true when they met and that maybe the heart was always meant to be with him.

I don’t watch romcoms very often (there are four that I like) this is definitely one of them. Watching it with you two made it even better. Great reaction. Thanks again.

Tara

I didn’t realize that Bonnie Hunt, her friend with the kids, directed this. She is also the Mom in Cheaper by the Dozen opposite Steve Martin. Minnie Driver played Matt Damon’s girl in Good Will Hunting.

Tara

I need to be honest, when I saw that David Duchovny was the male lead, I passed on this movie. I only know him as Agent Mulder from The X-Files and my bias jumped in. I couldn’t see him as the leading man in a rom com. I only came back to watch it because Cassie ranked it as a Super on her December live. I see why you both loved it and I’m glad I saw it. I guess it’s a good thing you didn’t see the thumbnail beforehand like Cassie did with While you were Sleeping.

Director Bonnie Hunt (mentioned above) was the sister in Jerry Maguire.

I absolutely love this film. This is at the top of a (very short) list of movies I go to when I want, or need, a good cry. Thanks for the reaction ladies. Y'all are great.
