Hey! Ok I did not realize Father's Day was so quickly approaching! We have to do a   quick poll!

Remember these are not movies about fathers (although we should do that sometime) These are some of my dad's favorite movies! Guess What though!? I went back and looked at the same poll we did in June 21 and I have since watched ALL of those movies (my dad's favs) except one! (Romancing the Stone)

Lethal Weapon-check

Braveheart-check

Romancing the Stone- Will it win this poll?

Dances with Wolves-check

The Hunt for Red October-check (won the poll)

The Patriot Games-check

The Great Escape-check

I have kept a note in my phone anytime my dad mentions a movie he has really loved (that i haven't seen) there are only a few, but sometimes that is fun!

ElmSt Reactions

Im first, went with Con Air, such a great movie

Jason Dolan

Romancing the Stone all the way

Eric Wallace

Con air definitely needs your sister included

David Freese

Con Air would be fun but Romancing the Stone is more Cassie.

Alex Villarreal

I voted for Romancing the Stone, but I was just thinking a little while ago that wouldnโ€™t it be great if Cassie watched The Game?

AGBmom

I love Romancing the Stone. Iโ€™m sad to see Con Air winning. Not an awful movie just my least favorite Nic Cage movie

Leonard

You should watch โ€œDadโ€ starring jack lemon & Ted Danson

Sean Stuart

Con air . We need more Nick Cage references so she can watch unbearable weight of massive talent.

Brian Pelts

I'm torn because you would love Romancing the Stone, but Con Air is ICONIC.

Odd Thomas

Romancing the Stone, obvs

R Harper

Romancing the Stone and Sneakers. Hard choice

KTVindicare

The Game is my favorite from this list and I voted for it, but Con Air is obviously going to win.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

The Game and Romancing the Stone. Classic, great Michael Douglas double feature. Con Air is fun, but these two are better IMHO.

Aaron Mann

I went with The Game. It has that mystery "thinking" element that Cassie enjoys.

ElmSt Reactions

Ah then patreon has went crazy as my comment seems to be the oldest and only 1 vote on the poll lol.

Michael McErlain

Romancing the Stone; the Game is also a must see!

Brian McGovern

Oh my goodness. Con Air. Really? Seen it twice and did not care for it either time. "Put the bunny back in the box." I think they would love Sneakers and Romancing out of all of them.

Wyatt Nuxoll

I voted con air , but romancing the stone is a must watch if you haven't seen it , it has a good love story which I know you guys love

Steven Ashford

Love the pictures Cassie. You look like you have a fantastic Father!

Mike Stevenson

I adore Sneakers. it's just so much fun and I know you have a thing for Robert Redford. He's fantastic in that plus some outstanding supporting actors.

Just Plain Bob

Sneakers has: Sidney Poitier, Robert Redford, Dan Ackroyd, River Phoenix, Mary McDonell, a secret agent vibe, a heist and so, so much more. An overlooked gem. So glad to see it on the list, even though I doubt it will win. Still, it got my vote.

SeanATX

Nooo! Was hoping for IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER Edit: whoops read the post now! Nvm

Miles E Coburn

"Sneakers" (1992) - Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, David Strathairn is my favorite of those listed.

Mike LL

Yes I can't understand people voting for Con Air when it is so obvious that Cassie would want to see Romancing the Stone instead.

Matt Rose

All five films are at least 'good'. SNEAKERS and ROMANCING THE STONE are the two best films in the pile, in my personal opinion.

Mike LL

You are so right, David. Romancing the Stone would be just right for her!

David Crabtree

Cin Air is the perfect Father's Day movie!

TigerDelta

I hope Romancing the Stone comes from behind for the win. Cassie will love it!

Mike LL

I'm all in favor of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, but I would go without the travesty of Con Air winning this poll.

Bill Maurer

Great photos of the family All in on Con-Air No "Searchers"?? A John Wayne and all time film classic !!

Andrew

Iโ€™ll never understand why people like Con Air so much ๐Ÿ˜Š

Kat Farlowe

You guys, Cassie will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Romancing the Stone! Please don't choose Con Air. Give us an adventure/romance for once. Just this one time. Pleeeeaaaasssseeee! Con Air is so violent. She just spent a week with violence watching the three "Sevens", which are all great films, but geez. Let's have a little fun for a change!

Patrick Egan

Sneakers!! Such a fun movie that deserves more attention than it gets these days.

Randolph Tirazona

I liked Romancing the Stone and Sneakers! Both are very good and to a degree - surprising!

Jesus F Christ

The Game gets my vote. A great thriller that is under-reacted-to on YouTube.

Gรกbor รrki

THE GAME is the highest on my reaction wish list from these but given the current score I'm doing an audible to ROMANCING THE STONE. It seems the only one having a chance against CON AIR.

Just Plain Bob

Thank you for mentioning Sir Ben Kingsley. Can't believe I forgot to mention him!

Jerrod Acree

Come on guys & gals! 80s nostalgia with Romancing the Stone!

BlueChip300

All of them are great, but I voted for Romancing the Stone. Cassie would love it. It's a bit like Indiana Jones but with more...romance.

Steve Mercier

I went with the one I think you'd like the most...Runaway Jury...but Romancing the Stone is also a lot of fun.

Bubba Fett

If romancing wins, have to followup with Jewel of the Nile. Different even though its a sequal, but still fun.

rubberkidney

because its just a fun silly action story on a plane with a ton of great actors.

Adam Doyle

Sneakers is great, but my choice is The Game... and IF you do watch The Game, I highly recommend watching afterward The Man Who Knew Too Little (Bill Murray) which is basically a spoof of the Game.

Caomhan84

I have to Google "The Game" because I don't know what that is. ๐Ÿ˜‚ My vote goes to Romancing the Stone, though. That's definitely one that Cassie will enjoy.

Bill Hayden

The Game, is a must watch at some point

Chad Bailey

I voted for The Game but Con Air is a fantastic choice also!

Walter

Con Air? Oh come on! Romancing the Stone and Sneakers! Not only are they far better films, but Cassie would enjoy them a heck of a lot more.

Johnny

Romancing the Stone is a great movie - she'll like that a lot more than Con Air, that's for sure.

Stranger2Reality

Agreed. Con Air is fun because it's so absurd, almost an unintentional parody of itself, but it's not a good movie. Sneakers, The Game and Romancing the Stone are great movies, and fun as well. Those movies you can enjoy unironically, whereas the same is not true for Con Air (unless you're like an 11 year old boy, I guess).

Zane From Canada

My vote would've been Sneakers if Con Air wasn't in this poll. It's just got everything: Action, laughs, tender moments, stellar cast, even ridiculous moments. ๐Ÿ˜„

Chris H.

I know it won't win, but gosh dang is Sneakers just SO much fun.

Roger Wayne Alms

I so hope Romancing the Stone wins. Great love story for Cassie.

Philip Herman

Romancing The Stone followed by Jewel Of The Nile would be so perfect for you and Carly. You two need some good Rom/Com Adventures.

Stranger2Reality

It's fun because of how ridiculous it is. It's like one of the fake Tuck Speedman movies from Tropic Thunder but as a real movie. I doubt the filmmakers really understood how absurd it is, but that's the way to enjoy that movie. You have to think of it as the camp aesthetic applied to an action movie.

Isaac

Dad has that Magnum P.I. look going on in the first picture, love it.

Alan Kobb

Your dad has good taste. You should watch all of them. No problem. It should only take about half a day if you don't take a break. Make extra popcorn!

Robert Nelson

I'm absolutely STUNNED that you have not watched Romancing the Stone! It's such a Cassie movie! Once you see it, you'll want to see the sequel, The Jewel of the Nile.

Caomhan84

Despite never haven't heard of it or seen it, once I googled it I immediately recognized the movie poster. So it must be buried in my memory from 25 years ago. I'll put it on my list of things to see.

Powers209

Kelly's Heroes is a great Father's day or "4th of" Movie.

Shawn Kildal

I feel extremely confident in saying Cassie would enjoy Romancing the Stone much more than Con Air.

Tim Raths

My vote went to Romancing the Stone because itโ€™s the one youโ€™ll enjoy the most.

OrangeLion

I...kinda feel like if it's one of your dad's favorite movie and you haven't seen it yet, that should win by default as a Father's Day movie. :)

D. J. Toland

It's doubtful to win, but Sneakers is just so much fun AND has such a great cast.

rakesh

They are all good, but i'm going for sneakers as it has a great ensemble cast.

Ian Hunter (NewbieInOttawa)

Agreed, hopefully she's gets to it at some point, I can't imagine she would't like it. Plus, it has ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ content thanks to Dan Ackroyd.

Shawn Kildal

That's a bold statement saying it's your least favorite Cage movie considering his filmography

Caomhan84

I agree. When I vote on these polls, I always try to balance what I want to see versus what I think Cassie would enjoy watching. Luckily this time it intersects perfectly with Romancing the Stone. I do think she would enjoy Con Air, but Romancing the Stone is *right* up her alley. Even if it doesn't win this poll, I think it should win a popcorn pick of the month.

Richard Maurer

Con Air is the single greatest film (with Nic Cage sporting a mullet and a bad Cajun accent) ever made! How could you not vote for it?

_tragicmike

Yes, it was a favorite of mine in high school. "Pained? Try prison." BOOM!

Joey

Romancing the stone!! Itโ€™s so much fun

Biggman83

No brainer!

_tragicmike

I agree, but I think a lot of times people vote for movies they like and not necessarily for movies Cassie would like. Which is fine, but for Father's Day I'd throw her a bone and not go with CON AIR. haha

Brian's Dog

I chose Sneakers for me, but Romancing the Stone is a better movie for you to react.

_tragicmike

ROMANCING THE STONE and SNEAKERS are the two best movies on the list. CON AIR is fun, but come on. It's just mindless action.

Terry Yelmene

@John Toland - I think you're right. It's hard to name a better assembled cast, top-to-bottom, or a more clever storyline than Sneakers had.

Celeste McAllister

Ok,super cute family.โ™ก 'Romancing the Stone'โญโญโญโญ

Bill W

Aww you and Carly still look exactly the same!!

JL_83

I didnโ€™t vote for it, but in keeping with the recent Nicolas Cage films that have appeared on the channel Con Air seems fitting

Philip Alan

Con Air is ridiculous. Great for a reaction. I'm not in the 'pick a movie that Cassie would love' club. I'm in the 'let's see her face when this guy does this ridiculous thing' club. Probably minority. :)

John Cranberry

Has to be Conair, but the Game is awesome also.

Peter Guertin

THE GAME! Love this movie. But all are great! I thought Con Air was cheesy the first time I watched it as a teenager but maybe I would be more forgiving these days.

Josh Segall

Romancing the Stone and Sneakers are both great picks if they win, but you should definitely do a reaction to the The Game at some point!

TwistedMagoo

Interesting...I have no idea what Runaway Jury has to do with Father's Day...but it's my favorite movie on this list by a lot

Johnny

Con Air is one of those movies that guys watched when they were young and remember it being so cool. In reality it's pretty silly it just doesn't really stand the test of time.

Kevin Charley

Choose one?! Alright I'm voting for Sneakers since Romancing the Stone is in the lead. But you really should watch BOTH.

Clifton Owens

Romancing The Stone is a Chick Flick meets Indiana Jones.

Joe M

Con Air for the win Please ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Mike LL

Cassie should call an audible for sure, since it is the only movie from last year's Dad poll that she hasn't seen. *sigh*

Mike LL

Let's see if I got this straight. Romancing the Stone is a fun, romantic adventure movie, but Con Air is winning because it is stupid. Ok, got it.

Caomhan84

If it loses, I'll just campaign for it to become a popcorn pick of the month. Because she needs to see Romancing the Stone. She will adore it.

AGBmom

His accent in that movie gets on my nerves so much that I become instantly irritated lol - yes he has some other bad movies but this one is my least favorite movie

Jacob Colson

The Way by Emilio Estevez and starring Emilio and Martin Sheen. Underrated gem of a film! I think that'd be a great Father's Day film.

ElmSt Reactions

I thought i was as no comments or votes but i dont mind being 2nd, 200th or 2000th, Philip can be first

Timothy Williams

Go Romancing the Stone! Con Air is great but Romancing the Stone is more they kind of movie that Cassie would like!

zynjams

conair should win by a landslide

David Freese

Howdy I voted for other movies, but in my mind how is she going to see the mindless action movies if it's not given a chance. I mean she seems to like a few. You have seen Con Air so if it's chosen let's support and watch it again with her. But I do understand you mind set and I'm sure we will get to other things eventually. ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿคž

David Freese

I agree with you but remember it's about opening her mindset of movies. Romancing the Stone is down her like but I think it'll come up eventually. Con Air is just an action flick but is just as deserving to be seen by someone for the first. So winning a poll would probably be only way to win. For the record Romancing the Stone would be my pick as well but majority rules right,? ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคช

Richard Maurer

Nope, I always thought it was silly, but much more fun than anything else on this poll. Especially Romancing the Stone.

Aaron Mann

That's unfortunately what this patreon leans towards. Case in point: THE FIFTH ELEMENT, which won by a landslide. And shocker, Cassie didn't really care for it.

My_Cousin_Mose

Never seen any of these so I'll abstain. Hoping for Con Air though since it's been on my list for about 20 years now.

The Gemini Man

The Game 100% The suspense is insane. Full on edge of your bed movie.

Lesley and Zack

I wish I could forget The Game and watch it for the first time again. So good!

Patrick Flanagan

CON AIR isn't stupid. It's a particular type of action movie and it does exactly what it's intended to do. It isn't a Merchant/Ivory costume drama but it isn't trying to be one. (Although a Merchant/Ivory version of CON AIR might have been amazing)

Mike LL

I actually did not call Con Air stupid. That was a simple summary of the comments I have read here on this post. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Larry Darrell

Some People just canโ€™t Breathe without itโ€ฆ Some will Never Survive without it. Some of us have been asking for 26 Years, How We Can Live without itโ€ฆ And Damn it, We Still Want to Know!!

Larry Darrell

Totally agree. If it doesnโ€™t Win, Sheโ€™s just gonna have to pick it, for all the reasons said before. It is Crazy that it hasnโ€™t been watched yet.

Walter

ha ha I get that and I'd definitely watch. I just love Romancing the Stone.

Larry Darrell

Donโ€™t google too hard. Itโ€™s best not knowing too much about it.

Sam R.

the Game nail bitter yes Con Air good fun action packed yes but for Cassie to just have some laughs and fun Romancing the Stone

Mannygogou

Romancing The Stone... with Hank Pym and V.I. Warshawski lol

Shawn Kildal

I'm all about the expanding the horizons when it comes to movie watching and I'm a fan of Con Air. It's a really good movie. But at the same time, I wish we'd vote for something that Cassie would like most. "We" as a group, I think, failed her on the previous poll with The 5th Element.

Larry Darrell

Iโ€™m voting for Romancing the Stone because I donโ€™t see anything else beating it or Con Air. If it doesnโ€™t Win, Iโ€™m fairly confident She will Choose to Watch it before the Year is out. (Positive Thinking Helps) The Game and Sneakers are Totally Fun Movies that Need Not Be Forgotten. And also, Honestlyโ€ฆ the Only Film in this Poll that Made Me Cryโ€ฆ was Con Air. Just Sayinโ€™

Stick Figure Studios

Naturally the weakest movie on here is winning. I'm hoping for ROMANCING THE STONE, but I'd be fine with THE GAME, RUNAWAY JURY or SNEAKERS. CON AIR ain't bad, but I feel like we've been overdoing it a bit with 90s action movies lately on this channel.

Mike LL

That is exactly right with the superior Die Hard 3 right around the corner. Romancing and Game would be much better choices for Cassie!

Larry Darrell

Whatโ€™s your favorite Product? I like their Blow-dryers, but their Curling-irons have given me trouble in the past. :-)

Keith Jones

I had a quick intake of breath when I saw "Runaway Jury" clicked it and dead last...yep that's how I roll

Kathy Carter

Oh man runaway jury

Stick Figure Studios

Would you consider switching your vote to ROMANCING? It looks like it's the only one that has a chance of beating CON-AIR.

Andrew

I never said it suckedโ€ฆjust found it kinda dumb and over the top, albeit yeah, somewhat entertaining with several good actors in the cast. Iโ€™d just put it towards the bottom in this particular poll ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, I'm getting a little worn out of 90s action blockbusters on this channel. If CON AIR wins, she'll be watching it the same week as POINT BREAK.

diego kontarovsky

doesn't seem like runaway jury is ever going to win a poll, but it's very very good

Phil Stubblefield

It's right there in the title, Cassie: _Romancing_ the Stone! A comedy/adventure/romance? You and Carly would both love it!

Kevin Kuma

I just switched my vote to Runaway Jury. "When a leader believes in a miracle and a follower believes in a leader, then no amounting force can stop it. As we push through wet sand, cold mist and measureless uncertainty, failure and dereliction cease to exist. All you are left with is a warm contenting journey into brotherhood." -Kevin Kuma Celebrating the hero's of D-Day by sticking together against all odds.

Shawn Kildal

I was going to say the best movie did win a poll recently with Tombstone, but I just remembered that the result of the YouTube voters

Shawn Kildal

She's also fixing to watch another 90's action movie in Die Hard With A Vengeance

Mark Vaderr

THE GAME getting horribly disrespected.

Shawn Kildal

Plus, she hasn't done a Michael Douglas reaction yet (that I can think of). She has recently done Nic Cage in The Rock and It Could Happen To You. She's also fixing doing another 90's action movie with Die Hard With A Vengeance

Shawn Kildal

We could dedicate a whole month to Michael Douglas movies as far as I'm concerned. Fatal Attraction, The Game, Romancing The Stone, Jewel of the Nile, War of the Roses, Falling Down, Wall Street, Basic Instinct, The Ghost and the Darkness, Disclosure, and most importantly The American President

Larry Darrell

Sorry John. Iโ€™m in a joking mood, and seeing no space between Con & Air, I couldnโ€™t help myself. Thanks Shawn.

B.H. Hosford

Cassie Iโ€™d love to see you react to Sneakers, but Iโ€™d love Romancing the Stone even more. The โ€œTโ€ is for โ€œtrustworthy.โ€

John Cranberry

I donโ€™t think we have that brand in Australia. I thought you were referring to Nick Cageโ€™s hair in the movie. Should be lots of fun to watch it after almost 5 years. Lots of familiar faces. Hope it wins because RTS is coming up the rear. ๐Ÿ˜

Richard Maurer

I think you mean that the movies you prefer don't win the polls. I know for a fact that the best films sometimes win as one of the films I voted for recently won a poll.

warcrimes

The Game deals with a dude with father issues and is by far the best movie on this list.

Stick Figure Studios

Actually sometimes the movies I do prefer win polls, but I don't always vote for the best movie. I tend to vote for the best movie that actually has a chance (which in this case is ROMANCING THE STONE) to minimize my disappointment. I will concede that on very rare occasions the actual best movie does win (obviously in my opinion though I don't think I should have to explicitly say that everytime) because E.T. won a poll once, but generally speaking, the best film does not appeal to the lowest common denominator which is what wins polls. What film did you vote for recently that won? What was it's competition?

Mark Daniels

It came to me suddenly while they were activating the stones in โ€˜The Fifth Element.โ€™ You have to watch โ€˜Romancing The Stoneโ€™ at some point. And hereโ€™s this poll now. Even if it doesnโ€™t win, put it on the docket. Gotta watch with Carly, tho. Itโ€™s a mission to rescue a sisterโ€ฆ

Wesley White

I'm down with either Con Air or Romancing the Stone, I love both movies, so it's a win/win lol! I know for a fact you'll love Romancing the Stone, knowing you Cassie and how much of a sucker you are for romance and happy ending type movies, it's right up your alley, but it also has a pinch or two of Indiana Jones in the mix lol! Con Air is just a typical 90's action movie starring Nicolas Cage, but it's a great popcorn flick, gosh I miss the 90's๐Ÿ˜ญlol๐Ÿ˜‚ As for the other films, well believe it or not, I've never heard of them lol! On a side note, I can't help but just compliment on those cute photos! You Cassie look so adorable in that image with your Dad at the water park, my heart melted seeing that lol! As for the other one, I'm guessing that's you on the far right next to your Dad, and that's Carly he's holding in his arm, and that's your brother with your Mom, just guessing lol! Cute pictures like that really melt my heart with happiness, thanks for making me smile lol! Looking forward to seeing which one wins and many other reactions in the near future! Hope you have a great week, and hope you saw my idea for a voting poll lol! Much love and support, you're the best, and as always...... stay classy Cassie lol๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒน

Jens Pouplier

Could these polls please not show how many voted for each movie before the results are final - people tend to vote in packs, as one wrote in a previous post, "I vote for the movie that has the best chance of winning, so as not to risk disappointment"

Richard Maurer

Sometimes banal populist movies are fun, if you don't take them (and yourself) too seriously.

Richard Maurer

Romancing the Stone is a action movie with some violence and a fair amount romance. Con Air is a action movie with some romance and a fair amount of violence. There's not this huge difference between the two that you people seem to believe.

Richard Maurer

As long as you don't it take too seriously it's fun. Apparently some here went into it expecting the next Godfather or Lord of the Rings

nick bell

Can't believe THE GAME is doing so badly. CON AIR?? Really?

Richard Maurer

I was more or less joking as to the fact everyone thinks their favorites are the "best" films, I didn't really think of a particular film, but I might have had Gangs of New York in mind. The truth is most of these polls are all mainstream films which are mostly not my thing, so I'm torn between voting for the best film that has a chance and what I actually think is best film, on polls where you only have one choice anyway. Is Romancing the Stone technically a better film than Con Air - I guess so. But in the days before streaming I would channel serf the TV and if I ran into Con Air I'd always stop to watch a little - and end up watching the whole thing. RtS on the other hand I've watched all the way through once and have watched exactly 1 reaction to it, and that was plenty for me. Neither of these films are great, but Con Air is more entertaining - to me. I certainly get why some prefer RtS, but I'm not one of them and I'm not going to vote for a film I don't really like because it's supposedly the better film.

Richard Maurer

I don't think anyone is voting for a movie just because it's winning, at least I hope not because that would be silly. I mean, what would you get out of that? I will sometimes vote for the film that's winning in polls where I don't care that much but it still has be a case where I like the leader over second place and I want to help it win. In cases where none of the leaders are movies I like I'll protest vote for whatever I think is the best film. It would be an interesting experiment to see if there'd a big difference if people couldn't see the percentages, but I'd be surprised if it made a huge difference in the poll results. Certain movies are more popular, regardless of their "merit", and those movies will win polls. the only place where not seeing the percentages might make make a difference is if two or more popular films are in the poll. But the films that get 5 to 10% of the vote now are still going to lose, although probably by a little less,

rakesh

Bill W

Of the Nick Cage 90s action trilogy.... Face/Off and The Rock are still watchable, but Con Air didn't hold up. Just too much schlock. Ugh. I can't believe it's winning. You all know Cassie would love Romancing The Stone.

Bill W

Of the Nick Cage 90s action trilogy.... Face/Off and The Rock are still watchable, but Con Air didn't hold up. Just too much schlock. Ugh. I can't believe it's winning. You all know Cassie would love Romancing The Stone. If only some of the voters for the 3 trailing films would switch their votes....

Paul Mellette

Con-Air is one of those "ultimate" popcorn movies. It's corny, goofy, funny trying to be serious. Lots of names and faces you'll recognize from other stuff... Besides Cage you have John Malkovich, Danny Trejo, Colm Meaney... well, it'll be interesting to see how many faces you do recognize! You'll love it!

Story Archer

I know we all love the movies we love, but we also know Cassie (and Carli) by now and I think we're all better off when we vote for the movies we know they will enjoy the most - at least let it be your tie-breaker.

Story Archer

I agree, lot's of good stuff on that list. I'd also like to see them do a little Robert Redford run, you know they would like that - The Horse Whisperer (VERY underrated, especially for these ladies), Jeremiah Johnson (classic), The Sting (classic x2), Up Close & Personal (romance), Spy Game (with Brad Pitt!)... and I don't know why, but Robert Redford movies always feel like 'dad' movies to me.

Javier Hernandez

True. They will like Con Air but they would love Romancing the Stone. Sneakers is quirky and you get Redford and Akroid together. Runaway Jury is topical (for a 20yr movie) but I found it slow. Again, they might like them but ... The Game I like the premise but I thought the movie as a whole was. "meh". I don't see our girls buying into it.

Larry Darrell

The name of the movie is โ€œCon Air.โ€ Not as clever as โ€œSnakes on a Plane,โ€ but in the same vein. ;-)

Sean Novack

You've got some great films here, and I'd be happy with pretty much any of them. I went with "Sneakers" because I haven't seen anyone else react to it.

Story Archer

Oh, I personally loved The Game, and I think the girls would enjoy it too, but not as much as others on the list, especially Romancing the Stone. The only thing I'm unsure about Romancing is how much of my fondness for the movie is nostalgia from that era and how well it would stand up today for someone who didn't grow up loving it.

Story Archer

Obviously there's no way we could know anything about your father, except by the quality of the young women he raised from childhood (no easy feat) and the affection they clearly have for him. Every time I watch you two, apart from thinking what a great sister-in-law Cassie would make ;-), the thing I think most often is 'these girls must have had some amazing parents', because it shows through in every reaction. Please pass along a Happy Father's day to the Man from everyone here (I presume) who gets to enjoy the brief company of the amazing young women he helped raise.

Judy M. Goodman

While I didn't vote for it, I loved "Sneakers," too. I guess I voted for "Romancing the Stone" because I haven't seen it since it was released. I have the "Sneakers" DVD somewhere, so I've seen it often! Grand Cast!!

_tragicmike

Ooh, ROMANCING THE STONE making a late play for #1. Will it make it??? :)

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, that was me who said that. It's just a strategic survival technique. Like you, I wish we couldn't see how each title is doing, but we can and I don't think there's anything that can be done about that, so there you have it. In this particular case, the movie I most want to win (ROMANCING THE STONE) is the one that has a good chance of actually winning, but in the past I have opted near the end of the deadline to switch my vote from a title that has no chance to help aid a film that I would prefer win over the leading option. I'm not necessarily proud of that, but neither am I ashamed. You do what you have to do around here to try and affect the best outcome. People voting in packs is how elections get won. Safety in numbers and all that. That's just the nature of democracy.

Stick Figure Studios

They often are, but a steady diet of nothing but them can get a bit wearying (like trying to live off just McDonald's: It may taste good, but it's nutritional value leaves much to be desired) and I feel like we've been having a few too many of them on the channel lately.

Stick Figure Studios

For the record, I agree that neither they (nor ourselves) should be taken *too* seriously when it comes to movie-watching, but I do think that it could (and should) be taken at least *a little bit* seriously. This is obviously totally subjective and personal, but I find that sometimes, for some people, any amount of seriousness about anything at all is too much. One can be serious and have fun at the same time. Those two are not mutually exclusive.

Stick Figure Studios

Would you consider switching your vote to ROMANCING THE STONE? If enough people do that, CON AIR might not win. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

Not a huge difference? Oh, hard disagree on that, my friend. One is more like RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and the other is more like DIE HARD: two movies that might occupy the same genre (action), but are nonetheless vastly different kinds of movies in tone, style, intent, etc (just like not all classical music is the same, though it might sound that way to some ears). Both have their place, of course, but for the sake of variety, I think one would make a much better choice right now.

COME ON ROMANCING THE STONE!! YOU CAN DO IT! ๐ŸŽโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŽโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ

Stick Figure Studios

Cassie has seen THE STING. It's one of her best reactions. You should check it out. The only thing more fun than watching THE STING for the first time, is watching someone else watch it for the first time. :-)

Darklighter1138

Sneakers is a hidden gem that most people don't know about.

Obsolyeet

I think The Game would be the best reaction but will vote for Romancing the Stone as it's good too and far more entertaining than Con Air which is pretty cringe.

Rodger Johnson

Con Air: mediocrity at its finest!

sarCC

I love The Game, but I know you'll enjoy Romancing The Stone a whole bunch.

Wes

The cringe is what makes Con air so bad, thatโ€™s itโ€™s good ๐Ÿ˜‚ however I did vote for Romancing because itโ€™s something I loved as a kid but havenโ€™t seen since!

rtt143

Runaway Jury is a sleeper hit

Steve Slatten

โ€œRomancing The Stoneโ€ is the best movie on this list, even if โ€œCon Airโ€ is more dad-friendly lol

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

It's LIVE AND LET DIE vs FOR YOUR EYES ONLY all over again. And we all know how Cassie felt about the winner. Come on fellow Patreons, search your feelings and you'll know ROMANCING THE STONE to be true!

Bjรถrn Karlsson

Cassie did Amelie in January last year. It's like 17 months ago, since she did a non-english from Europe. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜

Richard Maurer

Well, the real problem is we can only work with what we have in the polls, and as the polls progress, only with the movies that have a chance of winning. Personally I wouldn't consider either of the two poll leaders particularly "serious", so I went with the movie I consider to be the most fun reaction - Con Air. But in a different poll, with different movies, I might not have even considered voting for Con Air. Realistically, Since Cassie has already done most of my must watch movies (the mainstream ones anyway) there are precious few movies in any of these polls that would be "must vote for" to me. So I tend to just go with the flow so to speak, voting for whatever hits me initially, then I may or may not change my vote depending what's winning. We all end up being disappointed by the group's choices sometimes, but that's just the nature of majority rule.

Richard Maurer

They still boil down to two action movies with different tones, It's not like we're talking Lord of the Rings versus The Room here, at least not in my book. They're both mid-level movies (imo), but for me Con Air just happens to be more entertaining. I can see where some people would prefer Romancing the Stone, but I can't see acting like it's so much better than Con Air. Neither is really that big of a deal as far movies go.

Richard Maurer

@Story Archer - the theory that we all know what movies Cassie will like has one big flaw - we don't. Many people said Cassie would hate the movie 300, but when it turned out she liked it, not one person who insisted she'd hate it admitted they were wrong. Personally I'd rather have her try something different and not like it, than never knowing if she'd like it because of fear of picking something she wouldn't like. I have never, and will never, base my picks on what I think (not know) Cassie will like. That's just to boring of a way to do a reaction channel.

Richard Maurer

Con Air. At least it isn't a snooze fest, unlike the movie that's currently trailing it (and hopefully stays that way).

Story Archer

That's a fair opinion - it's one I might disagree with but perfectly valid nonetheless. Personally, I would rather see her/them try something that I know I like and that I believe they will like, rather than just something that I like. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

Naturekitty5309

I think she should go ahead and do Romqncing the stone, just because it's the last one on her dads list. I lost my dad in 2000 and every year on father's day I watch his favorite movie Rio Bravo.

Stick Figure Studios

To be fair, I think she actually will enjoy CON AIR. I just know she'll enjoy ROMANCING THE STONE more. Plus, I just happen to think ROMANCING is the better film.

Stick Figure Studios

That is true. The disparity between the two films (in terms of quality, tone, style, aesthetic, genre, etc) is not nearly as vast as between LORD OF THE RINGS and THE ROOM, but I think there is far more different between them than is really being appreciated in this thread (I mean, if you back far enough away, everything starts to blend together rather than when you examine things closer, they become more distinct). I don't believe, for example, that it is quite as simple as just "two action movies with different tones" (CON AIR might be a mid-level movie, but I think RTS is upper mid-level) but this is, after all, entirely subjective and -- since apparently I have to always make this explicit or.people get mad at me -- just according to my own personal opinion of course, so I'm not going to try to persuade anyone who only sees it that way since that is indeed (if we are dispensing with nuance) partially true after all.

Stick Figure Studios

With only a few hours left in the poll, here's a quick message to all the people still voting for other than the top two contenders: if you want CON AIR to win (or if you just don't care), feel free to leave your vote where it is, but if you don't want to see CON AIR win, seriously consider switching your vote to the superior (imo) ROMANCING THE STONE.

Stick Figure Studios

When I used the word "serious," I was referring not to the films themselves but to the patrons (as I assumed you were when you first introduced the term into the conversation). I know many don't take this whole enterprise seriously at all while others take it too seriously. Personally, I think somewhere in the middle is the best place to be.

Stick Figure Studios

lol. It's a sin that it didn't make the recent SIGHT & SOUND "Top 100 greatest films ever made" list. ;-)

Stick Figure Studios

It's okay. Not bad but very mediocre (even for a standard '90s action flick). Easily the worst film on this poll.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

Well said @Stick Figures Studios. Fingers crossed for a last minute surge in favor of RTS. Cassie mentioned that she reads all these posts. So my recommendation to her is to watch both. I hope one day she and Carly get to watch FYEO (1981) to make up for LALD (1973).

Colin Gutierrez

Bummed that The Game didn't get more love but I think not a lot of people heard of it...I never heard of it until just a few years ago when my GF made me watch it.

Celeste McAllister

One hour to go and it's Con Air by a nose..Cassie you've got to add RTS no matters what!โ™ก

Richard Maurer

@Stick Figure Studios - Yes I tend to have a bias against films I'm not a fan of.

Richard Maurer

Now that Con Air has won, I hope that she does add RtS. Many people here enjoy it (why, I don't know), and Cassie would probably enjoy it too.

Richard Maurer

As to the patrons being serious (as opposed to the films, although I might argue that there's a correlation between the two), basically you pay your money and you get a vote. Whether that entails flipping a coin or doing hours of research on each film is up to the person voting. People are going vote the way they want to vote, you might change their mind on a individual film, but trying persuade them to change the way they vote overall is probably a lost cause. I always look at it this way, no matter what film wins it's never coming back again, so if you hate the winner at least you don't have worry about it ruining other polls anymore. You also can't ignore the fact that while the patrons pick the films, Youtube views are a major part of the equation. People here picking popular choices help make this channel viable for Cassie. And Cassie does more polls with classics and other less YT friendly choices than any of the other popular reactors, even though those poll winners won't end up doing very well on YT. So be thankful Cassie's not one of many reactors who just watch the trends and fill their polls with nothing but YT friendly content.

Richard Maurer

Well, I feel the same about Con Air, it's upper mid-level, imo ;-). So we could go back and forth and not get anywhere, or just agree to disagree on the merits of these films. I'm definitely in the agree to disagree camp as the point is moot now anyway.

Richard Maurer

But did they have a greatest films featuring Nic Cage sporting a mullet and a bad Cajun accent list? Because Con Air would definitely be number 1 on that list. Also the only film on that list, but that's not important right now.

Richard Maurer

I guess I must be a indiscriminate teenage boy then, because that's the only possible way I couldn't prefer Romancing the Stone. Unless, of course, I just have different preferences than you. Seriously, Runaway Jury was a close second but early on I could see it had no chance, then The Game and Sneakers. I'm sorry RtS doesn't appeal to me the same as it obviously does you. I have a hard time pinning down exactly why, part of it is all the casual reptile killing (I love reptiles), but even without that I still find this film grating for some reason. If Cassie does happen to watch it too, I'm even a little torn as to whether or not I'll watch the YT edit. I most likely will hold my nose and get through it because I enjoy Cassie's reactions so much.

Dazman

I do think The Game takes its premise a couple of steps too far, and I end up irritated by the absurdity!

Dazman

She would enjoy re-watching Indiana Jones more!

Kat Farlowe

Absolutely. 1% definately warrants a watch and with Carly too!

Stick Figure Studios

I just meant that calling it a "snoozefest" is pretty unfair. Methinks thou doth protest too much. :-) Granted, it might not be as HARDCORE MACHO and relentlessly KINETICALLY EXCITING as something like CON AIR, but it's got action, it's got humor, it's got intelligence, it's got gorgeous locations and it's got emotion, so such a hyperbolic characterization tends to say more about the person using it than it does about the movie itself (I have oftentimes found it's not that people are biased against films they don't like, but rather they don't like films that they're, for whatever reason, biased against). At any rate, CON AIR won after all and I'm assuming you're very happy about that since you called it "the greatest film... ever made." ;-) Congratulations on your pick coming in first. Should make for an amusing reaction because despite my '90s action movie fatigue here on this channel lately, I have enough objectivity to be able to say that CON AIR is not a bad flick. It's a harmless, mindless entertainingly fun ride and I'm sure Cassie will enjoy it.

Richard Maurer

Snoozefest might be a little off - I probably wouldn't be able to sleep through a film that annoys me so much.

Chris Bordeman

Well, I'm not watching Con Air. It's such an awful movie.

Paul Deaconu

I'm just messin' with you, Cochise. Don't get all Wounded Knee on me and $hit.

Larry Darrell

Con Air is FUN. Donโ€™t take it seriously. Just have FUN watching a Movie with Cassie and Carly. If you canโ€™t do that, then you may be Too Tense, and just need to learn to Relax a Little. This Whole Popcorn in Bed Reaction thing is supposed to be Relaxing and Fun. Just Like Everything Else, it is What YOU MAKE IT. โ€˜Nuff Said. Have a Great Day Everybody :-)

'Pappy' Johnston

Con Air is a GREAT flick! Incidentally, my oldest Son is a Federal correctional officer and is actually done a lot of air transports for real!!! He can confirm The movie gets some of it right and some of it wrong, but, what can you expect, IT'S A MOVIE! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ I say just enjoy it for what it is and what's sure to be a GREAT Cassie reaction.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‚

Chris Bordeman

It's a brainless action flick that she won't like. It's not even memorable like The Rock. Did her dad like it?

'Pappy' Johnston

Well, I would guess that, yes he did since she put it on the Father's Day pole. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‚ For my part, I can't believe 'Romancing the Stone's got as many votes as it did! I personally always saw it as a cheap Indiana Jones knock-off-wanna-be. But HEY to each there own. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, ๐Ÿ™‚

Larry Darrell

Heart Strings will be Pulled in Con Air. Itโ€™s good to keep that Instrument in Tune.

Trevor Rotan

Sneakers! Sidney, Redford, River, Kingsley, and Aykroyd, such a forgotten gem.

Robert Haynes

Romancing the Stone is a movie that is tongue and cheek playing with romance novel tropes. Indiana Jones is a movie that plays with old pulp dime store novel tropes. There is some overlap in the adventure portions, but if you go into Romancing the Stone expecting an Indiana Jones adventure, it will seem clumsy. I think it comes out more favorably if you judge it on it's own merits though.

'Pappy' Johnston

๐Ÿค” Fair enough. I can agree with you on those points ๐Ÿ’ฏ. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
