I adore Ashford, he’s such a compelling character! Everything he says is a result of his experiences and who he now is (I’m thinking of his discussion with Drummer about uniforms from last episode too). What he’s suggesting now is a bit outrageous, but we understand why he’s decided to take out the ring to save humanity. We’ve also seen the belter attitude that sacrifice for the greater good is admirable before, when we saw all those belters who agreed to stay behind on Ganymede (RIP Champa), so although Ashford’s plan may seem extreme, it fits the belter mentality to a tee.
