Sanji

IT ONLY GETS BETTER FROM HERE 📈

Sanji

I don’t wanna start another dub vs sub war, but you should check out the last scene in Dub. Erwin death charge vibes 👍

Paul Durbin

I kinda checked out and only tuned in here and there for season 1. This was one of my favorites years ago. I will be tuning in for every episode of season 2. If that tells you anything...

Max__

I just wanna say that season 2 is even more goated

bondbond53

The funny thing is because Code Geass is not based on a manga fans literally were left to hang dry with this season ending for almost a year

bondbond53

As an absolute sub truther, I like the ending scene with Suzaku and Lelouch more in the dub. Give it a watch Gek boys!

kai

rachel this is serious!

BigManSirob

I haven't finished watching yet but did u guys seriously completely forget what Jeremiah looks like 😭😭😭

Dude Man McGee

I’m ready for them to be totally confused when season 2 starts.

DepressedSoggyWaffle

The way Euphy’s final heartbeats faded into the crowd’s chanting before being completely drowned out and replaced by it :/ it’s so sad how someone kind and compassionate had to die senselessly with her name stained forever. My heart broke seeing the cut scene to the crowd cussing her out right after she asked Suzaku if she’d made them happy. Stories and Continued Story are goated osts.

Grim Reaper

Table girl is crazy

Nathan

God I cant wait for the confusion on S2. Lol

Alex

What a heater

Tina L

It took them SOOOOO long to realize it was Jeremiah. 😆 🤣 😂

Alex

Granted there watching like 6 shows just for the channel rn lol

pink turtle

You wont be disappointed with season 2 :)

fcitifciti12

Lets go season 2!!!!!

James Moss

Honestly the cat was just a silly moment lol I don't think it was this huge deliberate buildup. Sometimes this show just has silly moments that I just laugh off because the rest is so goated. As for the comparisons, I think Death Note has the better first 25 episodes, but Code Geass as a whole is easily better imo. Your reactions next week will be interesting haha.

Calen

For real, that episode needs a disclaimer like "you are going to be very confused, but eventually you will understand"

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Like i said, Code Geass hired like 2 people to create this show... William Shakespeare to write a revenge story about an exiled prince willing to do anything to defeat Britannia and the Royal Family and hired some eccentric anime guy who wants to throw cat episodes and random nudity and pizza and school life to keep it truly Anime of the 2000s and unpredictable. It was original series so they didnt have a manga or novel so they improvised some of the story and added mechas because the production company, Bandai sells robot figures. The ending of Code Geass is what elevates this Anime amongst many.

kai

season 2 is sooooo fucking good like i can’t wait for yall to watch it

DontFailArtSchoolEren

The sheer variety of music genres in Code Geass is amazing, the music is distinct from saxophones to blues to fairy-like singing to tribal etc.

Julio cruz

Loved the reactions! The Jeremiah reveal, and that final cliffhanger lol. Btw, love the jersey, Brigg!!!

Sanji

When I first watched this, I also didn’t know that was Jeremiah until they did the name drop LMAOO

BigManSirob

Love to see my comment referenced so much in the reaction :) Also yes, Code Geass got extremely popular during season 1, so they definitely gave season 2 a higher budget. However, something I've heard about anime is that budget doesn't actually play as large a role as you would think. Of course it's definitely a big factor, but the amount of time they're given to create/animate the show and especially the talent they have making it (directors, writers, key animators, etc) actually play a bigger role towards the quality of the final product.

Rodrigo Figueroa

Hooooly this is PEAK. Ngl I didn't remember that finale lol so sorry for that. Guess it's time to start the 2nd season right away 😂

Nonos

Death note was great with L and light but I still would disagree. S1 code geaas> respectfully especially considering the last like 5 episodes in this season was peak. But it’s close tho DN still good

Derpeon

I think arthur biting his leg would have been more realistic, the searing pain in the leg would take his attention way for the one second suzaku needed

Shadow

Can’t wait for yall to experience the rest of this. Just keeps getting better until it finally gives u one of the best endings oat

Zed

bro this show cooks so hard. SEASON 2!!

Sanji

They are SO MUCH more insane moments (akin to bloody euphie) in season 2 compared to season 1! Code Geass gonna be in some of y’all’s top 3 by the end no cap

Sanji

Treating MyAnimeList like IMDB is crazyyy cuz they have a perverted harem anime about kissing little girls ranked higher than: Attack on Titan, Code Geass, Vinland Saga, Jjk, Spirited Away, A Silent Voice, Death Note, Demon Slayer, Evangelion, OPM s1, Mob Psycho, Haikyuu, JoJos, One Piece, etc. 😭

James Moss

I just looked and am not sure what show you are talking about? Are you sure you have the right list? MAL in my experience is much more accurate for anime because most shows (outside of top ones like Code Geass, AOT, etc...) don't have enough of a sample size on IMDB.

James

Which anime are you talking about? The only anime that's rank higher than all of those anime on MAL for any given season are Frieren, FMAB, Steins;Gate, and Gintama.

Sanji

Monogatari ranked #13 I’m told it has special dialogue/cinematography but frankly all I see is the dude sexually harassing young naked girls😭

Sanji

They also put Mushoku Tensei over: Attack on Titan, gurren lagann, death note, Kaguya sama, your lie in April, and jjk. Sorry that website ranking is heavily biased and cooked brother 🙏

olivia

u guys are gonna loooove S2 more than S1

James Moss

I mean GOT has scenes that are just as problematic (Emilia Clarke pressured into "r-word" scenes that made her super uncomfortable and brought her to tears and the show frequently depicts incest and stuff) and it's rated 13th on IMDB. I wouldn't use the fact that people gloss over problematic scenes in certains to just dismiss the site as a whole. If you look at the top 200 shows on MAL, most of them are fantastic shows without the creepiness. (I've never seen Monogatari so I can't comment on it)

Starkfern

Season 2 has lower lows but much higher highs. Also trust me, leaving off here would be better than leaving off on season 2 ep 1 😂

Starkfern

You're treating the cat moment too seriously it's just a classic anime moment I didn't think twice about that scene lol. Not every anime is aot where every frame matters

Starkfern

Ok monogatari and mushoku are weird but if you can look past weird shit like many long time anime watchers then you can see that the story is amazing. You haven't seen monogatari so how can you say it's bad. Mushoku is peak btw. It may not be better than aot but it deserves a high score

Sanji

I don’t agree or disagree with what ur saying! I just think placing Vinland saga and spirited away 30 ranks below and AoT 65 ranks below those shows is a valid reason to question the site 😭 Especially when AoT and Vinland are both on the top 20 rated shows on IMDB! it’s hella weird for Mushoku and monogotari to be ranked MUCH HIGHER than highly rated anime on IMDB (Vinland, AoT, spirited away). Especially when the Mc is the one who is doing all the weird shit 😭

Sanji

it’s different bcuz in anime those creepy sex scenes are celebrated and caused by the MC while in GoT it is frowned upon and caused by the villains 😭 Honestly not tryna debate this tbh but what I’m just tryna say it’s WEIRD AOT and Vinland are ranked so much lower than those shows on MAL, yet on IMDb they are on the top 20 😭

Zess

Seeing everyone get more into it as time goes on is awesome. S2 is gonna go hard.

James Moss

GoT's scenes are painted in a more negative light but with how graphic they get with them, they are still using that stuff as "fanservice". Regardless though, Mushoku Tensai is about the 30th highest ranked anime on IMDB. It's highest ranked season on MAL is 70th and the other seasons are much lower.

James Moss

Yep lol. Season 2 is known to get a little bit messy (in terms of plot coherency) but the highs are actually the peakest of the peaks.

James Moss

Yeah the cat scene was definitely just a joke and not meant to be taken literally haha.

Brianna Tsao

Season 2 is an S tier ending, not just in anime.

Brianna Tsao

People like to compare Lelouch a lot to Light, but I’ve always found LeLouch a lot more interesting

Brianna Tsao

Also I forgot which Gekkie said it, but “this show has so much information it’s crazy” is how I felt when I saw it in school lol. This was one of the first animated stories I saw that opened my mind up to this kind of scope

James Moss

GOT sex scenes are absolutely fanservice haha. There's no way you can tell me they make them that graphic solely for artistic reasons.

Nico

Peak fiction. Season 2 can only be better. Im prepared to see yall confused as heck.

Brianna Tsao

Code Geass no diffs death note for sure. It’s just got so much more going on

Brianna Tsao

Wanted to leave one more comment lol. I like Brig’s comment at the end about how this show has better execution than FMA. The editing, directing, the trippy uses of colors, etc are so precise. Bro that scene where Lelouch gets a peek into CC’s memories gives me chills the way it’s put together “If you’re a witch, then I can be a warlock”

MEW1023

Are we getting a One Piece drop tonight?

Av

When less people watch things, it can inflate the numbers due to the ratio of high to low ratings. Also, a lot of communities have done mass rating bombs on other shows to be petty, so that also skews it. Monogatari Series and Mushoku are still the goats though, they're up there for a reason. Can't dismiss a show you've never seen due to bias. And of course, in the end, everything on those sites is subjective.

Enma

"Perhaps this was what I had hoped for since that day. The destruction and loss of everything. That's right. Destruction is necessary before creation. So, anything that may make my heart waver from that should be swept away. That's right. The only path left to me is forward. " I believe for Lelouch, destruction embodies two significant meanings here: the destruction of the Britannian Empire and the personal destruction of Lelouch himself. I'd also extend this view on personal destruction to Suzaku, but I'll focus on Lelouch and Britannia for now. Britannia is a corrupt and oppressive empire, a hierarchical system based on feudalism and classism. (It's almost comically evil, but there have been empires/regimes in our own history that are just as evil if not worse.) It's rotten to the very core, you cannot change/have any form of reformation from the inside (Suzaku) or the outside (Japan Liberation Front or other rebellious groups before Lelouch). It must be completely destroyed for a newer, beneficial, more just creation to take its place. To do this, Lelouch believes that not only does he need to resolve himself to completely destroy Britannia, but also cast aside or sacrifice his own humanity and his past to achieve his end goal. He recognizes his identity, his past experiences, personal morals, and relationships, allows for a series of potential vulnerabilities and limitations to occur and must be "swept away" or "eliminated" so that he can completely focus on his self-given mission. I feel like he realizes that his "Lelouch" persona must disappear and must fully embrace the identity of Zero. Transcending from his previous personal and moral hesitations to Zero, a figure who is solely committed to the destruction of Britannia and the liberation of the oppressed. He believes, that there is no use dwelling on the past, as the path only leads forward. With unwavering resolve and conviction, he must continue alone, no matter the obstacles, and no matter the cost.

DepressedSoggyWaffle

In response to Carter: the best way I can try to describe the disturbing feeling these few episodes elicit in my own words would be the unsettling feeling of uncanniness that’s evoked from moments of extreme and unexplained character or visual dissonance. Idk if there’s a singular term to describe it but it’s not uncommon for authors to rely on the effects of concepts such as the uncanny valley and radical duality and use them as literary devices. It’s the feeling of incongruity and polarity from seeing what’s supposedly familiar, suddenly behave in a way that’s cognitively/psychologically/visually irreconcilable and unrecognizable, that gives it impact and makes it feel so wrong to look at. It’s similar to how jarring and unsettling it might’ve been for those familiar with Buddhist lore to see Netero using Guangyin, a deity known to be so compassionate they wouldn’t even step on an ant, to try and smash the king to death while also causing mass destruction in the process.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

The whole anime before the final ending is like a solid 7.5-8/10, the ending wraps the entire show in peak aura and is like 10/10 iconic. I feel its been reverse for AOT, whole anime before the ending has been better than Code Geass and then the ending didnt hit the mark like Code Geass did, both still iconic but AOT has 4 seasons to cook and years of manga development.

Albin Limani

As much as I love Code Geass, with it being my second favourite ever, it is in no way better executed than FMAB. It has pacing problems, needless fanservice and it can be really confusing as well. These things multiply in the second season a lot more. When you see the ending you now that they knew how they wanted it to end, but they did not quiet know how to get there, cuz there is a lot of bloat in the middle of it. FMAB is a seamless story beginning to end, the author knew how to start, how to get to the ending and how to end. Code Geass knows how to start and end(it has the best ending ever for me), but it does not really know how to get there. I would have to get into spoilers in order to fully explain that, but a certain characters whole plan just never makes any sense and ruins the story for me. Lelouch is just actually so goated that he makes me forget about the issues.

Albin Limani

When I was first watching it around the middle of season 2 I was like damn, its getting so messy where the hell is this story going, but the way it ends makes it worth pushing through some of the incoherence and stupidity that happens.

Albin Limani

Ranking sites in general are just bullshit. I only use ranking sites to see what people think about a show I want to check out, nothing more and I never base my enjoyment afterwards on it. For example, as good as Frieren is, there is no way in hell it is the best anime of all time. And it currently is listed as the best rated in MAL.

Brianna Tsao

Nah, the only thing I agree with the is needless fan service in season 2. It gets pretty sus lol

Albin Limani

The reason Code Geass had a low budget is the fact that it is an anime original, meaning it did not have a manga, but was created by the studio from scratch. So it was a complete unknown story, with nothing to back it up for a higher budget.

Zipzzty

Season 2 IS GOING TO BE PEAAAAAAK

Albin Limani

I really don't want to spoil, but season 2 objectively has bad asspulls. The whole plan of the character(you know who), the whole betrayal thing and how it happens. Euphy is a good asspull, those are not. It makes no sense and is just there for plot convenience. Now, the ending makes those things worth it, but they still make no sense and are badly written. Same with the replacement character all throughout season 2. You can clearly see that they captured lightning in a bottle in season 1 and they know how the story should ultimately end, but they were now planning for another 25 episode season. You could easily cut the season in half and I think it would be way better. Again, I say this having Code Geass in my top 2 and Lelouch as my GOAT character, so I love the show, I can also admit that season 2 has a ton of flaws.

Albin Limani

I think it would be fun if you watched the best moments in dub as well as a reaction. Like Lelouch's speeches, his laugh, the Euphy death scene, the ending of the season etc. The dub is amazing for Code Geass, one of the best. And the Johnny Yong Bosch(Lelouch) and Yuri Lowenthaal(Suzaku) combination is always amazing.

Shadow

Easier to see the peak of one mountain from the peak of another🫡

Ari

im just so happy i was able to rewatch Code Geass (and Naruto and Haikyu) with you guys. It's fun to see your reactions and hear your thoughts about these animes. On a side note, hopefully you continue to watch 86 (one of my fave new gen anime) and also start Frieren, when you get a chance.

Ale

Imagine being someone watching this back in the days and wait a year with that end of season 😅 I like Code Geass more than Death note, but could be that I watched CG when I was an adult already, so it does changed a lot on how I perceived the story 🤔 And with FMA I like it better than CG because of (spoilers) lol

Albin Limani

As someone who has FMAB and Code Geass as my number 1 and 2, there are a few reasons why I put FMAB over Code Geass. 1. The characters. While Lelouch is my favourite character of all time, I genuinely only care about like 2-3 other characters beside him. Meanwhile, in FMAB, even with quiet a large cast for such a short show, every character is unique and feels important. They all have a part to play in the story, no matter how small. 2. Story coherence: The story from start to end flows seamlessly. You can look back and see that from where we started to where we ended, it all makes sense. The same can be said for Code Geass though, where we start and end makes complete sense, but the way to getting there not so much. 3. Worldbuilding: FMAB just has way better worldbuilding. We see different places, how they interact with each other, the places are unique with their own quirks and interests. And the wordbuilding is always done through the characters. Code Geass, for tackling a global war, doesn't really have much worldbuilding. We see some different places but they all seem the same and also the characters from those places are not that unique in their designs or ideologies. To talk more about it, I would have to spoil, but I just feel the FMAB has a way stronger story and cast, and everything makes sense, how it happens and why it happens. While in Code Geass, it is carried by Lelouch and the other characters don't matte as much. My problems with the plot can't be explained without spoiling the second season. Again, these are my number 1 and 2 so I love them both, just thought it would be fun to compare them.

Matt C

I like that the writer chose to make every character in this show have importance in some way. Like it makes me not think about the cat scene and jeremiah's comeback as much cuz there's so many layers to this show

Beeg

I enjoyed Jack's character arc of going from thinking Lelouch's is half Japanese to explaining to Cannon that none of them are Japanese outside of Suzaku. We're proud of you Jack. And yeah if you guys still remember it was a BIG DEAL when they introduced Suzaku as an honorary Britanian at school. Because we never actually saw another Japanese person at school (besides Kallen who was part Japanese but people didn't really know that)

Garlic

Yes it was me who urged to watch 4 episodes. The one who has watched both seasons to the end. The one who has this whole world's lore in the back of my head.

Shadow

Same been wanting to rewatch Naruto and this again. I really hope they do Frieren sometime

Ale

Since you guys asked, the story was co-write between Ichiro Okouchi he is a screenwriter (he has worked on Kaiju N°8, and Devilman Crybaby an anime that you guys definitely need to watch) and Goro Taniguchi which is also CG director, I think he worked on one of One Piece movies, he also worked in Planetes (another story by the author of Vinland Saga). I don't think we are able to notice the low budget because it didn't affect the episodes animation, maybe with the openings and endings that had still images and re-use animation but it didn't matter in the end as CG openings are iconic lol

Beeg

I also like FMAB slightly more than Code Geass but I've got a bone to pick with your point about the characters. The Code Geass minor characters are really unique too, what other anime shows a lesbian mentally unstable table-obsessed military tech genius? Mao is a "minor" character if you think about it, but his character has depth and his insanity makes a lot of sense given his background. In fact, each of the antagonists and kills Lelouch committed has WEIGHT to them. Nobody ever talks about the depth of Cornelia or Clovis. In the first episode Clovis was just portrayed as a simple, racist, and incompetent villain that got killed off, but we were given information about his relationship with Lelouch after the fact. We find out that he wasn't just "some guy" that Lelouch killed on his way for vengeance, they grew up together and had a real relationship during their childhood along with Euphy and Cornelia. He was also a talented artist who had paintings of Aries Villa, so he had fond memories of their time spent together as children. Lelouch was even shown to be emotional in front of a mirror commenting on killing Clovis. Cornelia herself was also portrayed as a patriot to this evil empire, but we also see the other side of her as an honorable warrior who won the most utter respect from those under her command. She's a racist and would slaughter people in cold blood but she's also simultaneously a loving sister to Euphy. Mao, Nina, Cornelia and Clovis are all characters I would consider to be "minor antagonists" but they have crazy depth to them as they show there's two sides to all the characters. I would agree though, if you said FMAB has more LIKEABLE characters. But saying FMAB has unique and important side characters as if Code Geass doesn't would be...to neglect the nuance in a lot of the Code Geass characters imo.

Ale

Also the openings wouldn't be the same without Lulu riding that horse lol

jrnoodles

Thank you. Imagine watching this live and knowing you have to wait 6 months for the next season. I could never.

Jake R

Code Geass was developed by Sunrise who has done the Gundam franchise, and Cowboy Bebop; all of it is original work and not adapted from anything. Pretty wild to think of, they are geniuses.

AnonX

It'll be so funny to watch you guys react to the 1st episode of R2. Can't wait for it. Also can't wait for ep 2 of Chernobyl, hope it's coming soon!

Albin Limani

I never said the characters aren't unique or important, I just don't find them to be. With all the information we get about Clovis, I never care about him. Cornelia is one of the few character I actually enjoy too. And then again, anything interesting about most characters come to their relationship with Lelouch. Nunally, Suzaku and some spoiler characters can't stand on their own as characters, without Lelouch, which again brings me to the point that the anime is carried by Lelouch. Mao is interesting, but he has really no lasting impact on the story as a whole, sure he moves the plot forward with Suzaku, C.C. and Shirley, but then he is forgotten as if he never existed before. FMAB brings things back to a character that dies in episode 4 and another in episode 10, they never leave the story, they are always on the mind of the characters. Also, compare Mao to Kimblee. Both kind of psycopathic characters, but Kimblee has so much more depth and nuance to him. That makes it unique in my mind. Not to say that Code Geass has no good characters. I love Suzaku, Kallen, Todoh, Cornelia, loyalty man(I don't want to spoil). But FMAB just has way more of them. In FMAB most characters can exist on their own, without Ed. Mustang has his own ambitions, relationship with his team and Riza, badass moments etc. Scar with his whole Ishvalan history and Winry's parents, his revenge, his moral standpoint etc. Even Hohenheim, though he is made more interesting through the fact that he is their father, the real interesting part of his character is his story with the dwarf in the flask. Even minor characters like General Grumman play their part and have something to contribute. Then the villains, insanely better. Code Geass villains are so shit. I would have to spoil about this so I won't go into detail, but I genuinely don't feel anything about any of them, except Cornelia.

Richie Sour

This show is definitely top 5 for me and I’m glad you guys enjoy it. I personally think it’s better than death note because I agree that death note fell off I think it’s very close to FMAB and I could probably flip flop but I would lean FMAB due to the characters but it’s legit probably 4 and 5 for me

Renaldo Allard

This show is way better then death note hands down bro literally started a nation going to war wit a country that’s holds a 3rd of the entire world

Renaldo Allard

This show is just warming up that’s how good it is the plot is so good everything ties up in the end

Renaldo Allard

Suzaku and leluche dynamic and ideals are so good they both kill but believe there doing it for the right cause and for peace leluche understand to gain anything even peace you have to produce results even if it means getting your hands dirty suzaku thinks using the system and rising the ranks can make a difference but I can’t wait for you guys to see his change in season 2

Christophe Monnier

I'm glad you guys liked this first season. Given what happens next i bet CG will easily end up in your top 3/5.

Ed Joultz

Carter is so smart

Shpitz

Next episode is like: "new season, who dis?"

Beeg

Don't take this the wrong way I'm not trying to undermine FMAB, like I said I like FMAB more overall as well. I would say Code Geass characters are covered in a way that each character has been shown to have multiple sides. The characters you would want to root for have their own flaws and a lot of the villains had redeeming qualities too. FMAB characters had more relatable goals and overall more likeable personalities. I understand that you feel like some of the characters in Code Geass don't make you care for them in the same way. TBH I would say I feel the same. The only reason I brought it up was because the way you worded the original first point about the characters. I still don't really agree that the characters are "carried" by Lelouch, but hey, to each their own

Albin Limani

Well I also dont want to slander codw geass because I love it. But in a comment things may come out in a different way than we want.

Sanji

Yeah I agree! I feel like the 2nd season is akin to GoT seasons 5-6. Writing kinda felt ass pully but IMO there were many more rewarding scenes in s2 than in s1 which made it okay 👍

Sanji

Is FMAB that good? My top 5 anime are Code Geass, death note, Vinland Saga, AoT, one piece. I’ve been recommended to watch it a lot but I always get bored around episode 5 :/ Should I watch more or is episode 5 enough to see if I’ll like the show

Richie Sour

Hmm I mean I would for sure but I do feel like you get a feel for it early but AOT and Vinland are in my top 5 too so I think we might have similar tastes I would definitely give it another shot 🤷‍♂️ Might not be your favorite or top 5 but certainly worth a watch

Albin Limani

FMAB is that good. It is a short 64 episode story that flows seamlessly from start to finish, ends very satisfyingly, has an amazing cast of characters, great OST, opening and endings. It is just an insanely well made anime.

ash

i will never get over lelouch incinerating darlton after using him to stab cornelia.. he's really the greatest main character ever, a demon fr

Zess

Paris, knowing your taste I think you should push on. Theres always the chance it is good but its just not for you, but with the anime you love it just makes sense that you'd enjoy FMAB. The gags shouldnt put you off since youre good with one piece, you'll love the political war drama thats there, fantastic cast of characters with great range and moments, and the ending is up there as one of the greats. It's solid as can be, even if nostalgia plays a part. It actually convinced me to start pirating anime and watching all the ones I have now when it was airing on adult swim because I just NEEDED to know where the story was going and the dub was behind lol it beats death note for me pretty easily, but probably not the others in your top 5 there.

Beeg

You're much more likely to love it than not judging from your top shows

Landen Kiviniemi

Code Geass has its plot holes, some dont make sense at all but most arent indicative of the whole quality of the show and most are easy to overlook.

Vincent Bueno

Code Geass honestly has quite a few instances of bad writing the Euphie thing being the worst of them but you just overlook them because the good moments are so great

ash

no i seriously agree!! any of lelouch's best moments just for yall to get a feel of the dub.. if time permits<3

Cooper Anderson

If there was any scene that you guys need to watch in dub as well it its 100% the vey end scene of season 1! The DUB blows the sub out of the water for that scene!

Daddy's Home!

Lol thats purely subjective to you. Lelouch's geass being more chaotic over time has been constantly forshadowed time and time again. Saying it's bad writing is a very emotional and ignorant take on CG's story writing. When handling character death in story's all that matter is Pro's & Con's. Euphies sudden transition into evil and eventually death better serves the story because... 1. If Euphie's plan went through the story would've ended rushed and unsatisfyingly 2. Sets and futher establishes the tone of CG and many themes of Lelouch's Journey one being sacrifice and redemption 3. Cause & Affect. After this point the story progresses tenfold a literal war breaks out leading to Suzaku & Lelouch at their breaking points and to one of the best finales in Anime 4. Once again FORSHADOWED. Mao and his Geass, C2's warnings, Lelouch flipping out on Britannian civilian for bullying a 11 nearly telling him to commit seppuku on accident? Countless mentions of Lelouch's path being filled with tragedy and sacrifice? I mean its okay to not like it but feelings are not facts in terms of writing objectively EP 22 & 23 could be worse than you think it is.

Brady

Hey Brian, it's possible to disagree with someone without being a dick about it!

Sanji

I think you guys should do a dub vs sub reaction like you did with AoT. The ending scene and certain upcoming emotional character scenes IMO were better in dub. I’m an elitist sub only guy but there were some seriously amazing amounts with Lelouch Dub VA

Sanji

I agree that the side characters and as a whole that the sub is better. But in dub, the mcs are better imo (lelouch, Suzaku, kallen, Charles, cc, schneizel)

Matthew

Preach. The code geass dub us genuinely amazing. And that final scene? The voice actors of Suzaku and Lelouch really went crazy and gave it their all

Mira

I have FINALLY gotten a break from med school to catch up on the CG reactions. I'm so glad you guys are liking this show so much; these uploads make my stressful week so much better! Excited to see your reactions to the next season!

Brady

Alright I'm caught up to the reactions, you can post season 2 now

James Moss

While I definitely far prefer the sub in the scenes you are referring to cuz the Japanese dub just hits far more emotionally for me, english Lelouch does sound great in those moments and it’s certainly worth watching at least a highlight reel of English Lelouch’s best moments. I feel like English dubs work best on epic speeches like Erwin’s god tier speech for instance.

ash

i agree w everyone saying y’all should check out some dub scenes! lelouch’s best moments are worth watching bc his dub VA is goated fr

GreetswithJudgement

FMAB, DN and CG are in my top ten but they’re interchangeable to me.

studiogek

Bro I just caught up and man I truly forgot how peak this was! I'm so happy I get to rewatch code geass with you guys. Over the past few years I really wanted to rewatch it but never found the right time. This is perfect! Can't wait for you guys to do other shows I love like kuroko no basket <3

Handler One

Just catching up on these reactions, absolutely great btw, but can someone clear something up for me? Is them pronouncing C.C's name as "see see" a joke or do they really not know that everyone in the show pronounces her name "see two?"

jessiefungirl

I think because the subs say C.C that's how they perceive it. Unless I missed something.

JeanJean

The focus on the cat is weird because, why would you suddenly choose to be bothered by the cat when it's been used as this fun little convenient thingy all along. he doesn't actually get them out of huge pinch or something, it's a detail to depict the cat's attachment to them and it's cute, a cat would probably not act like this irl but who cares?

JeanJean

Yeah they still have a hard time grasping that lol, it's just supposed to be an endearing moment, other than that it has no effect on the plot.

JeanJean

It's not just the ending, the whole show is well made and still obliterates newer releases. The little slice of life moments are fun and add some lighter moments, which make the more serious moments even more impactful.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

I wished the show was a bit slower with an extra season, 25 more episodes for more build up and breathing room because each episode is just things happening, the ending cements itself as a very solid and proud anime, if the ending sucked no one would really push this show to any reactor.

Freedom

I love how you guys articulate the great things about this show, every single one of you! I love when Brig says he loves this more than Carter now 🤣 I cant wait until you react to entirety of S2!

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Hey there, everytime you "Like" my comments from previous episodes i keep thinking they posted the newest Code Geass reaction and get let down lol

Freedom
